i wanna sell make up online..someone said the best place is to buy it cheaper from overseas (japan) and sell it here in the uk...but are the international shipping charges alot?

There are always international shipping charges and they vary depending on who you buy from. Also there may be import taxes especially because your importing them to sell rather than personal use. Make sure you look into where your going to buy from and then ask customs about import taxes. Be sure to give them the FULL details of what you intend to do, they will be more lienient if they believe you to be honest and truthful. Additionally, find customers first. Ask around to who would seriously buy from your site as you dont want to go through all the trouble of importing to only find out that noone wants to buy your products.

If makeup is the way you want to go, Do extensive research on ebay first to see what is selling and for how much. Then you must click on the completed listings on the right side of the page and see how many have been sold and for how much. Then check out the buyers other items they have for sale. Now you must find a manufacturer that you can buy comparable product or better from overseas (probably china on this one) , now the trick is to buy in major bulk! the more you buy the cheaper it will be and the more profit you can make! Remember RESEARCH!!!

I want to know a little bit about starting a business. I asked my friend who really has no experience in business that if starting a business would involve alot of numbers and he said nope actually business involves mainly creativity and an understanding on consumer trends, numbers are almost all taken care of by computers I don t really believe what he says sooo I thought I might have better luck on here.

I would say your friend is wrong.You may not have to be a mathematician or an accountant, but you do need to be able to have a basic understanding of financial statements - and these involve numbers - mainly monetary figures. Yes the computer can do much of the adding and subtracting, but if you don t understand how the financial statements work, you will have a tough time running a business.

Things I look for in a business are free or low cost to join, free or low cost to run, some level of training and/or support, a website or information on how to create one, and a simple duplicatable business success system. The company and people should support and train you because when you make money they make money. I really like businesses that can be run part time, from home, and online.
