Do you then own it even though it s still in the sellers posession? Can they cancel it?

Technically yes you own it - the same as you own the dishwasher you have bought from Dixon that they haven t delivered yet.The seller is able to cancel an auction after it s been paid for due to not having the item anymore but if this has happened to you, contact Ebay and report the seller as technically they are not allowed to do this. Unless something has changed with ebays rules: the seller is obligated to deliver the item they sold once payment has been made. If they do not, you can report them to ebay and they could be banned from ebay altogether. It s like any other financial transaction. After you make the payment the item belongs to you.

In theory you own it and are just awaiting delivery to your home. In fact, it is not unknown for ebayers who have not achieved the price they want to conveniently damage or lose the item and you get your money returned (which is the last thing you want if you are looking forward to getting a nice near new laptop at a super bargain price!)

I was wondering if anyone knew exactly how vendors work with supermarkets. For example, does a supermarket have to give the vendors the money upfront and are returned any money for products not sold? In other words, would a company like Pepsi stock the shelves with its products of a Foodtown after getting paid by Foodtown and then return any money to Foodtown for products that were not sold? Please excuse my ignorance on this. I was just always curious about the whole vendor thing.

I believe if you use Quickbooks...they have a credit card payment option for the invoices you can create from their system. This would also allow you to avoid having bounced checks and you are paid after the card is processed. You will have to pay a transaction fee each time...but that may be worth it so your Foreman doesn t have to touch the cash.

My view is, if you are just getting this business started, you need to be there on site daily. If you are not, it will quickly become a disaster.
