I m doing a resume for a secretarial position and have noticed its important, if not vital to have the typing wpm information on there, so I m wondering whats the average. I took several tests online and have a 95% accuracy rate with 47 wpm. If this is your profession or if you re an employer of such is this sufficient? If not, what should my goal be? I ve heard that 60 is average but is this expected as an entry level secretary? I type much faster when not having to copy from another written source, but I know this will only allow me the luxury of learning faster...Thanks for any help I can get!

Totally depends on how much typing is required. Many receptionists only answer the phone, so typing speed is secondary to communication skills and multitasking. Alternately if your primary job is typing, you should be able to do it well. 47 isn t bad and I imagine that you could easily be at 60 or more after a few weeks of typing.ANyway, it just depends on the exact job.

Every job I had which tested typing speed demanded 60 wpm.However, being able to compose a good letter, typed at whatever speed I wanted, or being able to correct the spelling and grammar of the letter s writer so it went out perfect, counted a lot more heavily than typing speed once I had the job.Still, I suspect you probably ought to aim for 60.

Hi Beverly,I am guessing you mean MYOB Plus 12 the US release from 2002 and not the Australian version MYOB Premier v12 which is recent. If your situation is the former unfortunately there is no option but to upgrade your software in order to convert the data file. The bright side is that as long as you own the copy of MYOB 12 you can upgrade for the upgrade price vs the full retail price. ($159.00 single user upgrade) Give them a call they can check your status via the serial #.If this is still cost prohibitive my only recommendation is to: a) Download the trial version for a TEMPORARY fix (30 days to use for free) AND b) by the end of the 30 days make sure you have the $$ to upgrade because without a current license your data file will become READ ONLY. Additionally, you will not be able to use it with the older software should you have decided the newer version is not for you. You could present your income tax returns from previous years to show that you business is real and is earning money.You could show them your business s books and your business checking account records.If nothing else, explain to the bank your situation and they will tell you what documentation they will require. Idea s ... cell phone accessories, women fashion accessories and jewelleries (I talk about cheap and affordable stuff).. Handbags and purses, sunglasses, etc.... All of those you can get a small kiosk in your mall or a high traffic area .. for less than $1000 rent..
