An at home business.? -

I m thinking of starting an at home business. Like a hair salon. something small. What would be some advantages and dis advantages of doing this?

I think the best thing about a at home business is that you can save on traveling and can run upstairs and do things in your house if you have time! The bad thing is you might not get dress up because you think you at home and you ll start feeling lousy with yourself. But I still think that a at home business is a great thing to do! But one thing I mus tell you is important to advertise so people will know about it. When I opened my business I sent out lots of flyer s I actually got them printed from a online business called superfineprinting.com and it did bring me lots of business!

You just need to do your research on the biz and your overhead involved and what you need to run it-ie,certificates, licenses etc. Also check into the area you live in for the need and how much draw you will get in terms of customers. How much competition you might have etc. I do artwork for a living and teach classes out of my home studio. I sell paintings on commission and on Ebay. I also do murals 1-5 times a year on site. I make about an extra 6,000.00 a year doing this. I used to work full time but I am lucky and have a well earning husband. It just depends on you-all I am saying is just don t jump in the pool before you can swim. Make sure you know what you can write off too. Also, my studio is used exclusively for my art-I can write off the room-that portion of my mortgage-on my taxes. Just an example. Good Luck-

Any Ideas for a business name please? -

My friend is A tattooist and he needs a unique funky name for his tattoo business please.Thankyou in advance

Any names that are suggested here may already be owned by another party and/or may be trademarked so I wanted to go a different route...Here s a few things to keep in mind:1) Keep your industry, your clients/customers, your advertising plan in mind. 2) The more unique distinctive a name, the higher the chances that the name is legally available for use. And the higher the chances of obtaining the trademark.3) Think of your business as having a personality. What kind of image do you want your business to portray? Specific brainstorming tips:Think about what you want but more importantly, think about what you DON T want. If you don t want a 3-word name, don t bother with those. If you don t want non-English words, don t bother with those so on and so forth. What are the types of names you like? Think about words in their simple forms, e.g. adjectives, Latin roots, mythological names, etc. Compile a listing of the types then seek out resources, such as books or sites, which specialize in those types. Here are some links where you can do some preliminary name checking:http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?f=te -- USPTO C Preliminary Search of Federal trademarkshttp://www.statelocalgov.net/50states-se --Go to your state s Secretary of State page to see if they have a searchable database of business nameshttp://www.hoovers.com/free/ http://www.thomasnet.com C Must register (free) to search their databasehttp://www.nameboy.com C Domain name searchhttp://yellowpages.superpages.com/yp.adv C National yellow pages; leave location blank to search nationwide However, please be aware that this is merely scratching the surface of what s out there. Only comprehensive research will tell you if the name is truly available. But, these links are free a great place to start, so I d try them out first. This entails searching the pending registered Federal and State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files. Then, if clear, you can decide if you would like to file for a Federal or a State trademark. Hope that helps! I wish you much success happiness in all your ventures!

What would be some good sale pitch to put on business cards? -

I m a new Avon Sales Rep. I love the product but anyhow what would be something that you think could capture the prospective a little more then the average business card..Thanks so much for any response!!!!

Well, since they can buy Avon products online now, the angle to take is to emphasize that by shopping with you they get that personal service, and they get to try out the products in the comfort of their own home, instead of visiting some anonymous, cold, impersonal website where nobody knows your name. That s a bit much to fit on a business card of course, so, how about something like, Your Personal In-Home Avon Sales Representative or something like that?Good luck!...

Another approach you might want to take is make your business card look different (and better) from the rest of what the usual Avon lady s business card looks like. Make it look more like your own business card than just another Avon lady s. Getting yourself a stylish and beautiful looking business card can do a lot to reflect the product you re trying to sell and hopefully impress the clients enough to buy from you.You can go check the link below to see examples of stylish business cards so you have an idea on how to make your own look really nice. (Check the Salon and Beauty Business categories)A good tag line might work too but remember that it s only as effective as the service you provide so make sure to back that up with personability and great service. Good luck on your endeavors :)

I think in your line of work, you cannot underestimate the power of an amazing first impression. If you hand potential clients business cards that look like they were printed off a dot matrix printer, the recipient s perception of you and your company will take a hit. On the other hand, handing out a high quality, unique business card will immediately generate the good first impression and credibility necessary to build trust, which of course is critical to closing a sale. You want your business cards to be full color on both sides, be thicker (the average business card is 12pt, so 15pt would be a good option), contain your contact details, slogan, and logo, and have at least one enhancement feature. One enhancement feature that looks awesome yet won t break the bank is spot UV. Spot UV is usually applied to a non-glossy cardstock such as silk, and it applies a glossy coating to specific areas of the card that you choose (logo, your name, etc.). This treatment does not impact the underlying color, it simply makes those areas slightly raised and shiny relative to the non-shiny silk cardstock. This is a very cool, very classy effect.Other business card bells and whistles that reek of quality include embossing, foil stamping, rounded corners, custom cutting, and even perforation and scoring. So yes, your slogan and contact details are important, but you really want a business card that will wow your clients and differentiate you from the masses. The best place to go for high-end, fully customized business cards is www.nexcards.com.

How does a lawyer get the referrals that lead to actual clients? -

I ve been to networking events and have not been able to get clients yet, just people who take my card and say they re interested or might need help one day.

Well, the way it worked for me was that I happened to get into a certain incident, shall we say. A friend of mine pulled out a card or gave me the number of a lawyer who had helped him out. So, that s networking. Do a client good, and he/she will refer you clients. (By the way, the lawyer didn t help me out at all for my incident really. I was still found guilty (and I was guilty), but I guess he at least smoothed the path and lined his pockets with $1,000 of my money. I would never go to court without a lawyer by my side.---------I know, it makes me sound like a criminal - but no, it was just a foolish young adult thing. I have no need for lawyers anymore now that I m 45 years old.
