Am opening a new company that will run restaurant and coffee shop business need a nice name? -

Never pick a name for your business that doesn t say what you will do for the client. The Rain Forest is a nice name, but already exits (http://www.rainforestcafe.com/). In addition, it says nothing ABOUT your business. I know of a company which named itself Sylvia Beach and Company . AT first I thought it was a CPA or maybe an Advertising company. No, it was a BOOK STORE AND TOBACCO SHOP. (WTF? is what I thought) Apparently, the owner chose the name from an obscure poem about going to Sylvia Beach to read and smoke a pipe . Can you guess how long it took them to close? If by your description, you are going to open a restaurant or Coffee shop, choose a name which states the product - or rather what you are going to do for the customer . Mr. Beans Coffee shop , C.B. Roasters Coffee and Sandwich Shop or even use a location type name such as East End Coffee Shop , Downtown Coffee Stop In each of these names, you tell the customer what you are going to do for them as well as where you are. Very important in starting a small business. EAch time the name is uttered, you get a flavor of what type of business AND where to find it. I hope this has been helpful in choosing a good name.

How about running a competition in your area through your local newspapers, or with local secondary schools/colleges etc to get all the locals to come up with a name. That way you get free PR in the local newspapers, school/college newsletters etc both announcing the competition in the first place and then announcing the winner, perhaps with a photo of you handing the competition winner their prize (which doesn t have to be expensive - how about an MP3 player for a tenner?) and if you get photographed with the winning name/logo being held up too then it gets it in front of people right from the start. then once they start to see your business up and running they will already be familiar with the logo/name etc and your business will have instant credibility. This is just an idea - adapt it at will!Best of luck with your new businessRebecca :)

....you have to think of all the aspects of the situation my man...look:1.)location... If i was in a place like seattle, or any west coast city I would go with something like Earth ..could have some pretty interesting interior designs with that, and you could keep yourself somewhat green for the earth itself. east coast, depending on north or south, you would have to look at your surroundings, who are you attracting. how will you market it, and advertise.but my overall name of a coffeshop is the rain forest ....ultimate spot to relax and drink coffee..Real tree s, water features, comfy chairs and low tables. wifi, outlets.could be epic.think about it, your patrons... meet me at the rainforest for a coffee dude no doubt, we shoud smoke first

How do I get back at a client who did not pay for freelance work? -

I ve been working as an online freelancer for quite some time, and I ve been working for a certain client who has always been quite late on payments. We ve gotten along pretty well over the past months, but now she owes me $45 for a couple of articles I wrote. I ve been sending her messages, IMs, but all to no avail. She will not respond to questions I ve sent about when she will be sending payment. I am in the Philippines and she is in the US. Is there any legal action I can take despite the distance and the work situation I am in? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I m a writer and can appreciate your vexation. I m going to suggest you forget this client. She s used your service repeatedly so we know she likes your work. $45 is a very small amount of money in the US. If she won t pay you, either she s fallen on hard times (terribly hard, at that) or that in combination with the realization that she won t be consulting with you ever again. There is no way for you to take legal action as no legal authority would ever take your case, knowing there s no dollar-denominated compensation possible. My advice? Be as angry as you like! Know that I, for one, can appreciate the unfairness of it all. However, it would be a great idea if you were to cut your losses as we say and not let yourself be consumed by anger or hurt. And I hope you ll consider dropping her a line in which you acknowledge that she is probably under pressure financially. Tell her you await her payment for services rendered and look forward to doing more work for her in the future.Your way is to breed resentment and burn bridges. Mine is to preserve the good in your relationship as it may foster other opportunities. It is also important that you respect yourself...something that happens when we turn the other cheek and reach for tolerance and understanding. You don t walk in her shoes but it s quite possible you woulodn t want to, either.Len

Sorry I doubt if there is any recourse or legal way you can collect bec there was no written contract or agreement plus court costs would far exceed $45. Basically we all learn from our mistakes and good deeds of trusting others where your sad experience shows you can no longer trust your client so that if they contact you for additional work in the future, then you need to hold your ground and demand advance payment based on delinquency. Then again since you are in the Phillippines with little or no recurring clients, basically clients offering ca$h puts you at a disadvantage bec Cas$h is King and Ca$h has leverage.Hopefully I did not confuse you and Bless of Luck!

Stanch your bleeding, and write her a im explaining that her slowness has caused you to change your business practices, and that you ll no longer be doing work for her. Then go after some other stuff!

What are some questions a popular clothing store will be asking me on an interview? -

Only If you can , please answer the questions you give me.Also, what should I wear to the interview, im 16.

Hi Brandon, You may want to walk past the store a few times to see what their employees are wearing to get an idea. They may also ask you about what you like about their store. It is always good to visit their website if they have one and read a bit about their company and the ideas behind the company. A good impression isn t always about giving the right answers but also about asking the right questions to show them that you are really interested in them! You can ask about your possibilities for the future, what the team looks like, what they expect from you etc. And it is always good to think about what makes you special that will add to their team. It can be your sense of humor, being able to deal with people of all ages, etc etc. Don t worry too much about the questions, just be genuine, be yourself and be interested in them. Good luck on your interview!
