A manager might use cost information to? -

Surely there must have been some choices to choose from which you didn t type in.My thought is that cost information is used by managers to determine the profitability of products, i.e. how much the said products contribute to profits. That s what is called the contribution margin in managerial accounting.

Is it normal to come into work with Avon catalogues and expect your co-workers to buy things from you? -

Is it acceptable to make a profit from your colleagues??

It s annoying for people to do this. Just because I work with someone doesn t mean I have to buy something from them. Why do you want to piss people off like that? You really should keep the two separate. Not to be rude but do people actually still buy avon? I thought it was only sold at flea markets anymore. That s the only place I ve seen it for a long time.

My current job would limit you to a sign in the lunch room.At my old job, people would leave the catalogs on a table in either the lunchroom or the ladies room--you would have your name/address/cubicle on the catalog.Actually approaching the coworker and asking them to buy is the biggest no-no.

No. Not only is it not cool, most companies have a policy against it and you can get fired.Just add their names to an e-vite then have them over for an Avon party. But even that is sketchy in the professional world. Ultimately it s a conflict of interest.Sorry.

Under what conditions should a firm consider focusing on a single business and under what conditions should..? -

it expand into other businesses?

This is really a very difficult question to answer. Really difficult. Most businesses, I think, would be best served by focusing on just one business. It is difficult enough to run one business much less multiple. The company I once worked for had at one time 3 major businesses and 15 minor businesses. The minor businesses for the most part all lost money--at least 1/2 of them. They were eventually closed or sold. All 15. Management was either unable or unwilling to invest the money in those minor businesses to make them really profitable and besides that they did not command enough revenue to worry about. The company is now down 3 businesses but they might be having 2nd thoughts about 1 of them. Nevertheless, some companies are able to manage and grown multiple businesses. MMM is such a company. They seem to do it well. At one time back in the 60s and 70s conglomerates were all the rage. Almost without exception they have all ceased to exist. Back in the 20s there were holding companies. They for the most part all collapsed during the depression. There is an old adage. The bigger they are the harder they fall . It applies to companies very aptly. If it were not for the government s free money the biggest bank in the U S would now be history. The biggest insurance company would also be history. The biggest mortgage lenders would be history. The biggest automotive company would be history. Part of all of these companies problems were that they were too big to manage maybe. Another possibility is that management was managing them as their personal piggy bank. You are rather cute.

That is way too broad to be answered in a meaningful way. What type of firm? Located where? What skills do the members of the firm have (for example, someone with only trial skills will make a poor tax attorney without a lot of training). Every answer can change depending on those variables and probably many more.

How can I tell my boss that I cant do the work she assigned to me? -

I applied to be a cashier at this place but she has be moving these big boxes and stocking shelves. I agreed to be a cashier not a moving woman. I have a very bad back I have hemorrhaged discs, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, lordosis, scoliosis, degenitive arthritis, and this like degenitive disc disease I am not sure what it is called. I want to continue to work but my back is killing me! I am only eighteen, I don t want to be crippled from this. If the pain gets too bad my blood pressure gets too high and I can seizure, I don t need that at work, it there some way I can tell her, I don t wanna be fired! Any help?

The nature of working for a small business is that you as an employee generally need to do whatever needs to be done. That being said, you should tell your boss about your back problems and inform her that you are simply not physically capable of doing what she is asking. Tell her you re sorry, and you re not trying to be difficult, but if you had known that physical labor (lifting, moving etc) was part of the job, you never would have applied. The simple reality is that if you can t do what the boss needs you to do, you ll likely need to find a new job. If you re polite about things and both you and the boss are reasonable, you can probably work something out where you keep your job until you re able to find a new one.

If you needed a lawn mowed and saw a flyer on a trail would you be interested? -

Recently I made a flyer and am about to distribute it around local park/trail area telephone pole/etcIt has an image of a lawn with the title Lawn Mowing in (town)! Text is: - Lawn Mowing- Edges- Yard cleanup And at the bottom Call for free estimate (phone number) And below that I have many little paper slips with phone number people can rip out and take one so they don t have to write down the phone number/remember it in their head.I think this ad is sufficient though my dad says I should add a picture of me and the friend who are doing the lawn mowing to it. What do you think of an ad like this for a local lawn mowing/edges/yard cleanup service?

No, I would ask my neighbors, friends and workmates who they use and go with one of their answers. Yes marketing with a flyer might get some work but you need to give your current customers, friends and family copies of your business card to hand out to people they know. Word of mouth is the most effective form of marketing.*Edit*DO NOT PUT YOUR PICTURE ON THE AD. You re selling a service, not yourself so you want to show a nicely mowed lawn with good landscaping. Services like yours are about fantasy, you want people to imagine what you can do for their lawn. That means showing an ideal lawn.Another Edit***I would edit your text like this:It has an image of a lawn with the title (Name of Town) Lawn Services! Text is:- Mowing- Edging- Yard cleanup-Other services on request(or something to that effect)And at the bottom Call for free estimate (phone number) Oh and get business cards printed! They are more effective than a flyer. Give them to everyone you know, possibly go door to door in your own neighborhood and give them to your neighbors.
