It always motivates the employees when you give them fun incentives to giving better customer service. It doesn t have to be something that is going to be overly expensive for the company.Example: Maybe have a little bbq or party quarterly/monthly for the people that have good customer service reviews. Or even give away silly prizes like $5 to Starbucks.Little, silly incentives can go a long way for people. It makes it more like a competition for the employee and is more likely to motivate them.

So not only knowing the products and being able to help customers, but also not being false and robot-like (we can tell they are just doing their job in a robot like-way). It s nice when a staff chats in a normal down to earth way, as he s helping you or walking across the store with you to something etc. This can t be trained - it is only be hiring people that are naturally like this with people; People -skills.

I get very cross when I see staff standing talking to each other and often overhear them talking about personal matters. Hello =)I have posted a couple of items on one same day. Every buyer receives the item except 2 buyers who open up a non-receipt item dispute on paypal. I am aware it is my own fault for not posting using recorded delivery however, I have posted using 1st class postage and Royal Mail are usually pretty reliable in delivering parcels.I have compensated both buyers through paypal and the disputes has now been closed. What I am left right now is only a receipt from the post office to claim. As the items are pretty low value, both items cost me less than gbp20. However, I felt cheated as now I am out of the items and money and somehow I felt that buyers may have cheated me. On top of that,I have to incur the postage fees as well. I wanted to claim for compensation from royal mail however this is my first time, first case and I am not sure how to do it.All I have is the paypal page proof of transaction of the item cost and the receipt from the post office. Is this enough? Should I write both claims on one compensation form or should I send in 2 separate forms to royal mail? hi mate, fill out 2 claim forms and photocopy the receipt twice (you keep the original), attach the photocopy receipt to both forms and send them off and see what happens. as for ebay thats where your problem lies, your receipt is proof of postage and then it is down to the receiver, in future just put at the end of your advert that fact, you obtain proof of postage and any lost items will have to be claimed by the buyer! or you leave yourself open to future people just saying they never received items, good luck with your claim.

I sympathise with you as the same thing happened to me with HIGH VALUE items a FEW times and I am now SO FED UP of Ebay and the Post Office that I am GIVING UP selling on Ebay as all it has done is make me LOSE loads of money NOT make moneyI ve had enough!!

Hi this is a well used trick there are postal strikes going on but even still you wonder if they are honest or not.Claim forms can be picked up from post office or downloaded online they will also post you one if you phone themyoiu will have to wait approx 3 weeks before they will allow the claimif you are a personnal seller you can claim back the sale value if you are a business seller you will need proof of the original value of the item (cost) if you can not prove the value you will only get back stamps as said the claim form is a pain to fill in and the other party will be sent a letter if they do not respond to the letter you may not get back a pennyif you are not sending by recorded you need to ask for a certificate of proof of posting not just the receiptI send everything by recorded it is only 75p extra

print your paypal transaction with the addresses of where your item was going and what it was etc, get a claim form from the post office, ( photocopy your receipt and keep it safe ) fill it in and send it all back to them, and see what happens. i had to claim off the post office for postal orders which meant missing in the post ( also ebay items ) and all i got back was 24 first class stamps as compensation because i had sent the postal orders with no name filled in ( at the buyers request ) so anyone could cash them ! so i was blamed for it by royalmail

You should check with your lawyer, but if you mix the accounts, those funds may be vulnerable if one of the companies has legal action brought against it. I am looking into starting a company. I am currently in Full Time Employment and I intend to remain in Full Time Employment whilst I operate the company. The company is a weekend thing that can only be operated at the weekend. What I need to no is: How does tax and national insurance work?Are there any restrictions on being in Full Time Employment and Owning a Company?What kind of records do I need to keep?Can petrol be of set in expenses?Thanks

First you need to decide what type of company to set up.If you are providing a service to someone - eg plumber, gardener, mechanic etc you should be a sole trader, you will not need to notify Companies House, nor deal with any administrative or accounting requirements which are required of limited companies.You must register with HMRC as self-employed, even if you already send in a tax return. The advantages are that you can carry on using your personal bank account as your business account. Essentially, your business income is counted alongside your existing personal income, so the accounting side of your business will be very straightforward. But, you will be personally liable for any debts you incur in the running of your business which you wouldn��t be liable for under the limited company route. Self employed people are also liable for Class 2 NI contributions (currently ��2.40 per week: 2009/10 Tax Year).In terms of accounting, you will need to submit an annual self assessment form to HMRC annually.A Ltd company...is more complicated, you ll have to register your company with Companies House (an accountant/solicitor/specialist broker can do this for a one-off fee of ca ��150). Essentially this looks more official and gives you personally greater protection against bad debts. Tax wise you pay class IV and corporation tax and the rest you can pay (after expenses etc) as a dividend. So you ll pay less tax, but the accountancy side is more exacting and annual accounts will need to filed annually and you ll likely need a qualified accountant, so that will cost more. There are also partnerships and limited liability partnerships which are variations on the above. As regards being in full time employment and owning a company, first if you are working for someone else consult your work contract - they might not allow it, in which case you can set up the company in the name of a spouse, parent or similar. You are best off getting an accountant to answer the technicalities of this though.What records...all cash in and all going out - book-keeping plus related business expenses - whether professional services, parts, post, stationery etc. Essentially a record of everything you spend on the company. Keep any information and documents that you may need to help you fill in your tax return or to make a claim. If you lose a few receipts don t worry - especially if they are for minor amounts, but don t of course go claiming for stuff that is not relevant to your business. Petrol...you can charge 40p per mile for the first 10,000 miles and 25p per mile thereafter, in any one tax year. But going to/from home your place of work is not business mileage. Essentially keep a log of where you went and when and the mileage.If your t/o is above ��67,500 you ll have to register for VAT and keep records for that too. Lastly, in my experience provided that you file accounts in good order and don t make too many mistakes HMRC are unlikely to hassle you - there are more than enough tax cheats out there to worry about whether a small businessman has claimed a few receipts illegally.

I have made BAS errors previously but as I was able to convince them that they were genuine errors not me trying to be dodgy the ATO was fine I wasn t penalised for the mistake.Just keep in mind that once you have been audited once mistakes have been found that your BAS will be scrutinised more closely in the future so you have to be absolutely certain that you have no mistakes from now on!I have now decided to take mine to an accountant.
