Offer alterations and repairs then you could add specialty designs to your repertoire. It takes years to get a decent clientele, including fashion shows and inviting celebrities etc.. Start with a small repair alterations shop. Offer designs as a side-line. Put poster in the window or on a site. Put your credentials, Certificates and Education in a frame and hang it in the shop, and on your website. Sure, it will take a few months to get established and you may barely break even but when people learn about your designs and talents, you will have them lined up at the door.A business is for life so don t rush it. Take your time. Offer your services to other clothing stores and manufacturers and dry-cleaning services. You can do the designs and patterns when business is slow but try to set up a wide client base so that you can then choose your own clients. You might be able to get sa sponsor to assist financially, if you are low in finances. You could get a partner or offer yourself to an already established business, as a partner.

GO FOR IT! Being in business for yourself is the best thing you could do. I live in Atlanta, GA and I use a independent tailor for all of my work clothes, he travels to me and have a great relationship. It might take a while to break into the industry but once you get loyal clients it will be very lucrative. Also sounds like you need minimal capital to get started so you can get a small investor to help you get off the ground.
