Am I good enough to open my own bakery? Pics included!? -

I started doing cakes out of my own home about a year ago. I ve gotten a portfolio together on myspace and I was wondering if you guys could check it out and tell me what you think of the cakes. Maybe tell me which one is your favorite least favorite?I really appreciate it. I want opinions outside of friends/familyThank you!http://www.myspace.com/katiezcakes

One word sums up my feelings: Wow! You definitely have what it takes to open your own bakery, as far as talent and imagination goes. Though we can t taste your cakes, they look yummy and I bet they are delicious by the pictures and going by the expressions on those two cake eater s faces. lol! It is very hard to pick a favorite because they are all so awesome, unique an beautiful. I thought the guitar and Chevy were both cute and cool. Some of the other ones had a lot of detail, too, like the Baptism cake, Poetry cake, and sports cakes. The wedding cake was gorgeous. Hard to believe that s your first wedding cake! The cherries cake was very original. Honestly, I don t have a least favorite. I love them all! You go, girl! = )

Thank you very much for your your time and praise. I like to think I do a good job I appreciate all your answers very much! Report Abuse

WOW, you re so talented! Congrats on starting your own business, I think you re going to do really well. With all the publicity artistic wedding cakes are getting these days, you re definitely in the game of supplying what everyone wants. It s essential that you advertise any and everywhere humanly possible and have cakes that taste as good as they look. I ve had a bad experience with that, ordered a beautiful cake from a bakery in NYC only to have it taste horrible!I especially like your gone fishin and pirate themed cakes. I wasn t too crazy about the toothbrush though. Everything else was great. One more piece of advice, the icing handwriting could use a little work, with such awesome cakes I would expect superb calligraphy and such. I m sure a little more practice would make you a pro.Good luck with the business!!

Well I like your cakes. Can t say I have a favorite or a least favorite though...This is what you need to figure out...How many people are buying your cakes a month? What are your cakes going for? What is your income a month for doing cakes? Is the amount of orders you are getting outgrowing your house? Do you NEED a bakery or is it more of a want?Is that enough money to pay for the costs it will incur to have an actual bakery? It is becoming more and more common for people to run businesses out of their home and online because it is a lot less overhead than to have an actual location. You can always have an actual website, do deliveries, etc. all from your home so that you don t have the extra overhead.Once you outgrow your kitchen because the demand is so high, thats when I would look into getting a small bakery. You don t want to get too far ahead of yourself, and things not work out! Good things take time and patience-keep that in mind!Overall, I think that your cakes look great and you will succeed at whatever you decide.

Your cakes are Amazing , you can get lots of orders with these types of cakes .

My server will not allow me the pleasure of viewing your samples, but if Mr. Cacciatore says they are awesome, then I give you my vote.

Oh, my. Looking at those pics, for me, is the biggest turnon a woman has ever given me via the Internet. Drooling!Mmmm!
