Small Business Website? -

I have a small business I am running from my home, I am trying to build a website and I need a shopping cart. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good shopping cart, easy to use, can list a lot of items, and preferable free since I am just starting off?

uggh.... ok .... i ve been a web designer for WELL over a decade and i haven t heard of a SINGLE one of the things that these people are talking about, so i ll assume their all scams.. but i can t prove it.who is your web host with? typically whatever web host you have will HAVE free shopping cart software that you can install. all you have to do is go into the control panel, find it and click the button and it installs. OScommerce is one of the bigger ones, and then there s Zencart both have been around for longer than i ve been developing, and are very trustable.. if you are hosting with godaddy, they won t have that.. godaddy sucks as a host by the way.. If you do NOT have a website yet, purchase the domain name you want through godaddy, and then purchase webspace through eitherhostgator.com or powweb.com i use both, and they both have 24/7 LIVE customer support, which means if you break something or have questions, you get on chat and talk to them live! hostgator has a thing called fantastico which is really cool. it has lots and lots of softwares you can install including the shopping carts.powweb has their own version of something similar, and has different options from what hostgator does, BUT, has most of the same ones too.. i like powweb s options better personally. that s your best bet.. go with one of those two companies, and install the cart that comes with it. then you log into the cart and change things as you want.. It s really simple to -install-, but, if you need help customizing the carts you can find me. customizing is the difficult part. good luck

The Cheaper option is as follows:Create your website, which can be a Free Website (yola/weebly or others) and put Paypal on it. How to do it. Read link below.Paypal has various buttons you can put on your website e.g buy now , donation or shopping cart . Follow instructions on link below once you ve got your website and instead of selecting Donation button, Select shopping cart .P/s bear in mind that for every 1, paypal deducts 33p, so set your prices accordingly. I have 2 free websites that have Paypal on them.Ps. Ive just noticed you have a domain name. After setting it up on the free website, upgrade it to your domain name.Best wishes

Honestly, the best way to build a website is to learn how to do it yourself because you will cut a lot of cost. You can either do the simple using Yahoo.com or some other host that gives you all the tools to build a simple webiste where you can still integrate a shopping cart. The majority of Americans will trust PayPal over any other transaction company because it is more known and trusted. So I recommend them. I m not sure of the cost, but the customer knows that it is safe to buy from you. As far as website building, I would recommend purchasing Adobe Dreamweaver CS4.If you are to put up any pictures I recommend you get a picture editing software so that they look a lot better. I recommend PhotoImpact Pro 13, if you don t want to get Photoshop. It takes a while to learn but eventually you get the hang of it. I recommend you get a work book on Dreamweaver specifically for dreamweaver, and PhotoImpact comes with a manual already so its there for you. I wouldn t know if it would be cost effective buy these software, but if it is not just use the webbuilder on Yahoo if you wish to use their hosting service.

Try virtuemart.net for shopping cart. It is open source so it s free. If you need good design for your site go to www.vjtemplates.com that s my favourite site, they have good design in shopping cart templates.good luck
