How much does an independent contractor charge for technical work? -

I got a request for some temporary work using specialized software (Revit). I didn t know what to charge and on a whim I said $30/hr. Is this way too low? Will they think I am incompetent because of my rate?

If it s good for you then it s good. I wouldn t be asking for much more if you don t know the current rate. It may indeed be low but like I said before if you need the work then it s good. Contractor prices can vary by a ton in the real world so don t worry about it. When you have more experience you ll know exactly what to charge. Until then, consider it a blessing just to get work.
