A great way to generate a lot of business is to knock on doors and let people know you are starting a cleaning business in the area and you would like their help and would they mind if you ask them a few questions. Then have a question sheet with 3 to 5 questions on it like If you had someone to come in and clean your house what would be some of the things you would look for in a cleaning service? and What day of the week would you prefer someone to come in and clean your home? just ask a few questions to help you know what people want, but the main purpose is to meet these people in person give them your card. People are way more likely to do business with people they have already met. Also get email address and let them know you will be emailing them to let them know of specials you will be running if that would be OK? This will generate a lot of business. When ever your slow send them an email with a special cleaning price on windows, blinds, ect. If you keep your name in front of them regularly by email when they need cleaning are knows someone that does they will remember you. Because a lot of people loose your business card but if you keep your name in front of them by email they will remember when they need you are a friend ask them if they know any cleaning service. As far as references be honest and tell people you are just starting so you don t have business references but you can give them some personal references. And to generate business at first give a good discount and let them know you are giving them a good discount because they are some of your first customers and you need some good references. Just be honest with people and big things will happen.Hope this helps! If you need more help just email me at kcharlie@ymail.com
