You ll need a lot of money and planning to do this so its good you are starting now. A shelter will likely be considered a commercial or industrial property if you plan to house a lot of animals, so you may not be able to do it on a residential property (one with a regular house). You ll need to create a non-profit company, get approval for your non-profit business there as well as building permits. You ll also need to find out the impact of all the waste on the area (can t have tons of dog poop washing into your neighbors yard)...again a commercial or industrial property may be better. Think about how you ll raise money as you won t be able pay for it all yourself. You ll need to think about contracting with and paying for vet, especially for complicated pregnancies...as well as food, cleaning, medical supplies, toys, etc. So...to get started...when you are old enough start volunteering at your local shelter or pet rescue organization. You will gain lots of experience in caring for the animals and will learn alot as well as make lots of contacts. As the owner of two rescued cats, thank you in advance for helping the animals!
thats a good idea...you wanna help animals :) thats sweet...good luck.http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsUWl_U3GLApMzSTEdY85Gvsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20091021180558AAohd7W
