for example www.olx.com is a free classified site.They donot charge for the advertisements posted in the site.there is no banner advertisement also.. then how do they earn

Ok.. some of those sites.. are for large survey companies.. so it help them with getting informations about the trends and new era s of interest in internet through ads, or getting how many ratio s per each site/ category, etc.... Others are just smart big fish as well.. they want to get popular as a start so attracting plenty of people .. so when they hit the right number of customers and viewers and make a name.. then they start making money for the ads , etc.. like being a google or something when people and customers used to them .. Some are just like intilligence agencies.. they could collect easy informations , etc..
