ARE ALL PARTNERS IN A GENERAL PARTNERSHIP REQUIRED BY LAW TO TAKE AN OBLIGATIONAL ROLE IN MANAGEMENT? -

I m about to start a new general partnership (GP).The GP will consist of myself and 2 other partners.None of the 2 other partners want to manage the GP.None of the 2 other partners want the right to obligate the GP.None of the 2 other partners will contribute cash or assets.Instead, the 2 other partners wish to simply contribute ongoing services for a share in the net profits.Therefore...a) all management duties will be performed by myself;andb) I will be the only one with the right to obligate the GP.My question is:Can this sort of arrangement be legal if we all sign and agree to it?OR, does the law force all partners into taking an obligational role in management?

Speak to an attorney but you are looking for a limited partnership where there is a general manager responsible for the business decision making (management) and others that are investors for example.For additional protection legally you can set up a LLC, limited liability corporation. It is kind of a hybrid between a corporation and a limited partnership as I understand it. Without knowing the location it is difficult to answer accurately. Around my neighborhood we could use an Indian, Vietnamese, or Taco shop. But if you really want success go vegan/vegetarian. We had one that moved 10 miles away and people used to come from many, many miles away to go to it.

Small business ideas.? -

What are some good ideas for a small home based business that could later grow into something larger? Currently I make signs, banners, small yard signs and random stickers (like the In Memory Of and car club decals). Apart from that I do pressure washing and other small jobs on the side. I ve though about adding lawn care to the pressure washing bit but, it seems like everyone and their dog does lawn care now days. To me it seems like you have to lease a building somewhere if you re offering a product or hope like hell word of mouth and a bunch of advertising works out for you if you provide a service. Of course I have business cards and flyers and all that scattered across the county advertising the services I provide. I m just looking for something different that catches on real quick or might help improve my income that has a low cost start-up. Any ideas?

Every town has people who need small jobs done. Cleaning gutters, cleaning outside of windows, replace storm windows or screens, fixing a door etc. A good place to start advertising might be a senior citizens center. There is no reason to be by the airport, since if you are going to be using UPS or Fedex they will pickup from your location for free. The post office will also pickup for free if you are shipping priority or express. You might want to broaden your clientele to everyone s shipping needs. It would only take 1 person to run this business if it is done correctly.Ordering shipping supplies should come from the post offices free priority supplies and from Uline.com.
