True grants are very uncommon for for-profit businesses. Grants.gov is the clearinghouse for all federal grants. In general, there should be no fees to apply for a grant.Since you are in Texas, contact the Economic Development Council (EDC) that serves your area. Most localities in TX have them and they are funded through a special sales tax. You may be able to get a loan or grant from your local EDC faster than most other sources.

What kind of grants are there in Texas for a small business owned by women? -
What, if any grants are there for a small business owned by women? I am a resident of Texas and would like to expand my business. We have been open for 6 months. We are still in the struggling stages, and just need something to keep us afloat, as well as help us in our expansion. We own a nursing agency, and would just like to know which grants are scams and which are legit.
