The first things to think about are what you can do that there s a market for and how you reach that market. If you don t have customers you won t have a business. If you re in the UK, contact your local Business Link and go on one of their free starting in business seminars. They go through all the things you need to think about whatever business you decide on. They re also very good on food businesses, if that s what you choose, guiding you through all the food hygiene and other regulations that you need to comply with.Good luck!
have a look at the area that you would like to set up in and be realistic, dont try and start a business three hours away from where you live. the first thing you need to look at is the demand and supply of your chosen area. get your local yellow pages and have a look at how many established business are in the area. look at how much cash you have. for any start up cash is everything. remember that you may have to finance the costs of your business for a year or two until a solid client base is established. i would say that a food outlet is the better option if you can find an opening in the market. the nail salon is usually set within a hairdressers and the tanning salon is an outside bet from my opinioni know you can lend money from family or the banks but to enter the market at a good level you could really do with plenty of your own cash.
Once you have a definite idea about what you actually want to do, go and find yourself an Accountant. They ll tell you everything you need to know. You keep very basic books - the Accountant does the tax return etc. It costs money but he will save you many times more than he charges you.
