No. it would bring you to the total that you were paid in the year. What you are paid and what you earn are not necessarily the same.

I think you have a good idea since a party supply store is more about selling the plates, balloons decorations for parties (consumables) and a party rental store would more likely rent tables, chairs, chaffing dishes, etc.(durable items). How do I quit a babysitting job? -

Over the summer I worked from 7-4 babysitting two little kids, for 40 dollars a day. I ve talked to alot of other people, and correct me if I am wrong but this pay absoulutley stinks! They want me to come back next summer, and I ve somewhat commited to it, but that was because they put me in a corner sort of when they asked, should I tell them I can t work for them this summer, and how do I go about doing saying this? They live across the street from me and we re kinda family friends. Another reason I want to quit is I feel like I need a better job going into my senior year in highschool. Something I can but on a resume.

I have two solutions if you d like to keep the job:1.Ask if maybe it could be fair if they paid you by the hour, instead of a set time. What you re doing now is nine hours everyday. If you were paid by the hour, you d get more money, and it d be more fair.If you charged 7$ an hour, then 7x9 = $63, that s $23 extra a day than before. What they were paying you before is $4.40 an hour, which I think is too little if you re taking care of two kids. Play around with the prices; You seem mature enough that they should be paying you something between $5 - $10 per hour :)2.Ask if they could pay for both of the children. It isn t fair to have to charge 4.40 an hour for *both* kids. Two kids is a lot of work for nine hours, especially if you only get $20 per kid! Take it from me, I |had| to watch 4 or so kids every Saturday for about two hours usually by myself FOR FREE, which I thought wasn t fair, but it was a religious thing, so I couldn t be like, Can you pay me? So, at least ask them to pay more. $2.20 per kid for 9 hours is terrible for someone your age-- they pay 13 year olds at least 3.50 for babysitting! If you ask them to |at least| double the prices, that s $80 a day.In all, you just have to |talk| to the parent/s about it. Make sure you have another job first before you just up and leave them, you want to make plans before you tell them no because then you don t have a reason to back it up. If you get a minimum wage job, then you will make $40.00 in only 7 or so hours per day instead of 9 hours a day. So the pay is not so good working for them. That s $200/week that you were earning. Do you have any qualifications that should earn you higher pay? For example, a degree in early childhood education or ten years of experience as a nanny? If you don t want this job next summer, just let the mother know that you ll be unable to accept the babysitting job for next summer. Be advised that you may not be able to find a real job though, and then you re income will be gone. You may let the family know that you would still be interested in babysitting some evenings or weekends if they need your services (keep the options open). Another question would be to ask if you re paying taxes on the $200/week you received from this lady. If not, then you need to realize that when you work a real job the taxes will automatically be taken out of your pay each week. It is a well known scam.She will send you a check that is a forgery. You deposit the check, but the bank will take a few days to find out its a forgery.In the meantime, her carrier comes to your home and picks up the goods, and you never see then again.When the check bounces, you are out the goods.If you still believe that this is genuine, tell her that you will wait for 2 weeks before the check clears, and then you have to go to the bank to confirm the money is in your account - before you even order the goods. that will stop the scammer pretty quickly, and they will move to the next victim.

This is a scam. She will want you to pay the shipping out of the extra money she sends you in the check. It will take a couple of weeks for the check to come back as counterfeit or stolen. You will be out the shipping plus the merchandise.

But they stick you with the fee for its convince.You could always try to post it locally for free (craigslist.com) to see if that nets you any hits. I ve been in situations like this and it is frustrating. Don t get angry about it, but tell him in a very straightforward way that his performance simply does not merit you giving him a raise. You may want to add that he is lucky to have a job given his performance.

You re the boss, don t give him a raise. If you give him a raise even though he has poor performance, it will just make him think he can slack off and get more money.I would fire him if it gets worse.

First, as you have found, it is not obvious to many people that you must perform to receive a pay increase. You say you promised a pay increase every three months but based on what? Just length of service? Your promise may or may not be considered a verbal contract, more likely to be one if that is the policy you follow with all your employees. Here are some steps that may help.First, review your policy on raises. Is it perfectly clear how and when it works? Do your employees have a clear understanding of what good performance is?Second, have a sit down with this employee. Let him know you are concerned about the situation and about him. Lay out very clearly what your expectations are for him and for all associates. If the time is right go ahead and review the previous discussions you have had with him and then review his performance and make it plain as day what he needs to do to get more pay. Make sure both of you understand it is nothing personal, that it is simply about treating everyone fairly and equally. Third, if you haven t already, start documenting the performance and the discussions you have had and are having and include the date. If you have a formal system of counseling/verbal and written warnings etc. make sure you are using it. If not start one...this may help you in the future. What you need to do is establish, for yourself, that this associate has a clear understanding of what the rules are, what they are doing wrong and what they need to do to improve their performance. Once you are comfortable with that progress through your written warnings etc. until termination in the clear end result. I feel your pain, experienced this a lot myself and every time I am caught off guard for a second. When someone asks you for a raise out of the cycle of normal reviews it is very difficult. Often, though it is due to a personal financial problem but it can be because of other things (so an so got a raise and I do more than them). As you go through this remember others associates are watching and taking in how well or poorly you handle the situation. Can I do payroll from Quickbooks Professional? What s the difference between that and Quickbooks Payroll?It seems that the professional edition has everything you need to do payroll - am I wrong?Also, on additional note, do I need any other Quicken software other then professional services for a law firm?

I can t answer all your questions. But I ve used Quickbooks for years (all the way back to 1988). Never had to do payroll with it though. (I worked for small businesses who paid via 1099 forms to independent contractors). [As an aside, not sure that was/is entirely legal - probably not]. But I had comandeering bosses and I caved in. [As another aside, I recently stopped working - for all of them. Asking me to manipulate the books was not right and my conscience finally got the better of me].But anyhoo, I believe that Quickbooks Pro will completely be able to handle a law firms accounts - the payroll thing is this - you have to subscribe to a yearly subscription from Intuit in order to activate the payroll module - they do this 1) to make money obviously, and 2) your business needs yearly updated tax tables to properly prepare the payroll.From what I could tell, Quickbooks Payroll is kind of a stand-alone thing. But it would almost definitely need a paid upgrade each year as well.I think you would be better off using QB Pro and subscribing to the payroll upgrade service. That would link the programs together and be so much easier to maintain. My opnion.

The per-book cost is obviously higher, but you don t have the up front investment or inventory to worry about.Your only costs will be getting some professional page design software (like Adobe In-Design) and learning how to use it. In Design is not cheap, allow about $400 or more for that. It is also not easy to use so you will have to take an online class for $100 or so.

You can self publish the book or you can try to sell the book through book publishers. Either way, get to the library for books that will help you find out the processes and procedures. A book publisher (legitimate, there are alot of scams out there) will give you money upfront and royalties on sales. The publisher can then help with the marketing. If you self-publish you will make more money on your sales but you ll have costs associated with that marketing and advertising. You have options but making the right decision isn t always easy.
