Would it be a good idea to buy a sequencer for eighty grand, then charge 400 bucks a pop to determine if kids on Ritalin actually have the genetic problem? Profit =100 bucks per kid. Dyslexia is genetic as well. that would run about a thousand bucks a pop! . It would be a valuable service, but how would you drum up business?

Unless you had significant scientific and medical training and experience, I doubt very much you d be able to drum up business, as you say. This sort of test requires a degree of trust, and that can only be obtained by qualified, trained, certified personnel.It s a business opportunity for a medical lab, not for some dude off the street.
