I think you could swing something like 15,000 square foot in a small town with like 8,500 people.

They have so much more buying power than a one store operation, you would never be able to compete on price. And consumers don t care about personal service anymore, price is what matters.The product variety required in a department store would be almost impossible to manage in a store that small. How much would each customer have to spend for you to pay your overhead - including rental wages and advertising and stock?
