Employee asking for raise despite poor performance ?!? -

My employee asking for raise despite poor performance .I told him i dont understand on what basis u are seeking increment !!we had promised small increments every 3 months ,(it was obvious tht would be based on his performance.) two months back , he pushed us to give him some raise....and we promised to give performance after 2 months ...but his performance did not improve ...project are in very bad shape...but he returned salary...i refused to take ...he said plz keep......i am not feeling well....i keep telling him how our client is getting mad ...but he is oblivious to that.!!!!

This is an employee who is manipulating you.Simple as it sounds, put everything in writing. Put it on paper. List positives and negatives. Ie., you helped us with ____. However, client was angry that time when you ____________. Maintain a matter-of-fact, objective attitude as you analyze his performance. Stay forever calm and principled and stick to the high road. And stick to a schedule--reviews are only to happen when they re scheduled to happen. He shouldn t be nagging you the way he is, he s only putting a noose around his neck by doing so. He SHOULD be focusing on making relations better with you and with the customers.Give him warning but be prepared to fire him if he doesn t shape up. Ask yourself, How much is this employee worth to my company? Firing him might be a wake-up call for him. His life might be better for it.Always put principles first.

Most people believe there is a strong relationship between job satisfaction and job performance.A happy employee is a good employee.Companies are looking for ways to make their employees more productive. But Employees aremore interested in appraisal rather than good work.To raise your performance firstly you should be fully satisfied with your work then only you can perform better and the chances of raise will be much.

I would say to give him a one month shape up preformance review. If he his holding back your company, with the way the economy is, you can find someone that will work hard for what he is making now. If he works well during this time period then he can get a raise, if not then he can find another job. He is obviously holding back operations.

I ve been in situations like this and it is frustrating. Don t get angry about it, but tell him in a very straightforward way that his performance simply does not merit you giving him a raise. You may want to add that he is lucky to have a job given his performance.

You re the boss, don t give him a raise. If you give him a raise even though he has poor performance, it will just make him think he can slack off and get more money.I would fire him if it gets worse.

this does not compute. he is being unreasonable.

First, as you have found, it is not obvious to many people that you must perform to receive a pay increase. You say you promised a pay increase every three months but based on what? Just length of service? Your promise may or may not be considered a verbal contract, more likely to be one if that is the policy you follow with all your employees. Here are some steps that may help.First, review your policy on raises. Is it perfectly clear how and when it works? Do your employees have a clear understanding of what good performance is?Second, have a sit down with this employee. Let him know you are concerned about the situation and about him. Lay out very clearly what your expectations are for him and for all associates. If the time is right go ahead and review the previous discussions you have had with him and then review his performance and make it plain as day what he needs to do to get more pay. Make sure both of you understand it is nothing personal, that it is simply about treating everyone fairly and equally. Third, if you haven t already, start documenting the performance and the discussions you have had and are having and include the date. If you have a formal system of counseling/verbal and written warnings etc. make sure you are using it. If not start one...this may help you in the future. What you need to do is establish, for yourself, that this associate has a clear understanding of what the rules are, what they are doing wrong and what they need to do to improve their performance. Once you are comfortable with that progress through your written warnings etc. until termination in the clear end result. I feel your pain, experienced this a lot myself and every time I am caught off guard for a second. When someone asks you for a raise out of the cycle of normal reviews it is very difficult. Often, though it is due to a personal financial problem but it can be because of other things (so an so got a raise and I do more than them). As you go through this remember others associates are watching and taking in how well or poorly you handle the situation. So, don t discuss it with others and make sure you are being fair to them as well. Good luck....load up on the Advil!

Can I do payroll from Quickbooks Professional? Whats the difference between that and Quickbooks Payroll? -

Can I do payroll from Quickbooks Professional? What s the difference between that and Quickbooks Payroll? It seems that the professional edition has everything you need to do payroll - am I wrong? Also, on additional note, do I need any other Quicken software other then professional services for a law firm?

I can t answer all your questions. But I ve used Quickbooks for years (all the way back to 1988). Never had to do payroll with it though. (I worked for small businesses who paid via 1099 forms to independent contractors). [As an aside, not sure that was/is entirely legal - probably not]. But I had comandeering bosses and I caved in. [As another aside, I recently stopped working - for all of them. Asking me to manipulate the books was not right and my conscience finally got the better of me].But anyhoo, I believe that Quickbooks Pro will completely be able to handle a law firms accounts - the payroll thing is this - you have to subscribe to a yearly subscription from Intuit in order to activate the payroll module - they do this 1) to make money obviously, and 2) your business needs yearly updated tax tables to properly prepare the payroll. From what I could tell, Quickbooks Payroll is kind of a stand-alone thing. But it would almost definitely need a paid upgrade each year as well.I think you would be better off using QB Pro and subscribing to the payroll upgrade service. That would link the programs together and be so much easier to maintain. My opnion.

How do you publish a book...with no money? -

Amazon allows publishers to use on-demand book publishing services. Instead of having to print 1,000 or more copies, you can print them one at a time. The per-book cost is obviously higher, but you don t have the up front investment or inventory to worry about.Your only costs will be getting some professional page design software (like Adobe In-Design) and learning how to use it. In Design is not cheap, allow about $400 or more for that. It is also not easy to use so you will have to take an online class for $100 or so.

You can self publish the book or you can try to sell the book through book publishers. Either way, get to the library for books that will help you find out the processes and procedures. A book publisher (legitimate, there are alot of scams out there) will give you money upfront and royalties on sales. The publisher can then help with the marketing. If you self-publish you will make more money on your sales but you ll have costs associated with that marketing and advertising. You have options but making the right decision isn t always easy.

Looking to open a retail toy store and need some business advice.? -

how do i get started? i dont have a lot of money on me but I would be able to get a loan from the bank hopefully. where is the best place to put toy stores? i assume somewhere where there will be a lot of children walking around. anyone have any experience or thoughts on this? are big chains like toys r us going to give me a lot of problems? i have a few ideas for it with having like a 5 dollar and under section at one part and have different categories of toys in different sections. please if you have any advice let me know.

Well the first thing you need is a business plan. Based on what you just asked is a business plan. But you should get different categories of your money to manage it. Like a part of your money for fees, bills, advertising, and of course buying toys. You should put the store in a populated place but not really close to competitors like toys r us. That doesn t mean like real far but a good half a mile is enough of distance from your competitors. Also you need to come up with a name fast and quick but it has to be a good one that is attractive. Also come up with a website for your business to. Toys r us will actually help you at first because if costumers go there and find something expensive that they want, they may search around for another toy store and if they happen to find yours and you have the same product for cheaper than your in luck because they will buy it most likely and tell their friends and family that your store has great toys that are cheap. Also the category thing you want to have is a great idea. Just throw in some cheap name brand toys then eventually the word will get around and people will start coming. My advice is to like have a contest or free give away on one day of the week to reel in costomers. Well sorry for the long paragraph. My first and longest one. If you need anymore help send me an email and I will gladly help you.

By the sounds of things, you are in the beginning stages and you will need to put together a business plan. That will help you jot down your idea into a more constructive plan. When you have more of an idea, check with your local library where you can get some business advice. If there s anyone in your family who is business oriented, ask them as well.

Where I can find online project/job? -

I am software engineer, with 2.5 years of experience in web Development.I am looking for some projects by which I can earn money.I have a small team apart from job (we all work in different companies)we are planning to start some business .......... since we don t have proper contacts we are not able to get projects .........We are ready to take any kind of small to medium size projects

You need to send your resume out to real jobs you are qualified to do. In your cover letter you need to state that you wish to work remotely, from your home office. LOTS of companies, especially in CA operate this way. They usually provide transportation for you to come in for an interview and for you to attend company meetings a few times a year, but otherwise everything is done online.

You could make 40-80 just making websites/blogging/Development using Java PHP , dreamweaver, im doing it now and Im crap at art.It s just that I know what key words to put in and what websites to host it on. Where you are a graphic artist I think it would be the best thing to do website blogging. And before you dive in not knowing what your doing , you need to join a forum/clubs .(Im not promosing butt loads of cash) In these forums you can talk to people who make thousands every day and in clubs you can get taught how to do it and when you ready you can make money yourself . The best club at the moment is www.MoneyCashCapital.com Im not saying its going to make you a millionaire but checke it out , its a really good money making site .
