Where to start for a charitable event?..please answer i want to give backhearts;? -

I really want to give away like baskets or even help feed the homeless at a shelter for x mas..but i have had no luck at all finding a place..I would really appreciate it if i could get some ideas on where to start or even how to start..please just give me all the information you can..Oh and by the way it would be in the DMV area...(D.C.,Maryland, Virginia)Thnx?

Hi, I found some listings for homeless shelters in the 3 areas you mentioned. I believe they list phone numbers too and you can try calling them to see if they need help. Also, try contacting your church or other local churches to see if they are having a food drive for the lower income people of the community. God bless.

My GM yells at employees in front of customers. Is this professional behavior? -

I ve worked at this restaurant for some six years (ever since high school, I m now in college). There is a high turnover rate; however I ve seen nearly every employee/GM/Supervisor come and go. I ve got to say nothing grinds my gears that being yelled at OR seeing somebody else go through that same punishment. I believe that it is utterly unprofessional and not to sound Dwight-like but, a sign of weakness--not leadership. So, my GM (who everyone hates for being inept) has yelled at employees over nothing (like staying 3 minutes over their time to help- today s example). What is worse is that this makes the environment uncomfortable for the staff and the customers; especially since they re in the same room. I ve been there six years and I know my way around and I ve got to tell ya, I ve never seen anything like it before; it utterly offends me. Especially because these are just kids, neneophytes with less that 4 weeks on the job. They don t know everything yet. At this point I just don t know what to do. I was about to speak up to her about it, my superior, but thought that I should give it a day or two to think about. Should I tell her boss? Bother him about it? This just seems so unprofessional to me, ya know?

Your GM is an inept idiot. It is very inadequate to yell at employees, especially in front of customers, which leaves a horrific impression of the place. It is appropriate to call the employee in the kitchen or office, in order to reprimand. Your GM knows he is not capable of handling personnel or even the restaurant. His actions are the result of a complex stemming from ignorance and lack of authority. Besides, his yelling can also be considered harassment. Sooner or later he may find his match , who will address the issue with the Department of Labor.

It is unprofessional and illegal, this could be taken as harassment in the work place.

yes someone needs to do something.this sort of thing is like cancer to a business.eventually it spreads and will affect everything.this person needs to be counseled or fired for acting that way

Completely unprofessional. Have you thought of trying to get a manager position there so you can be in charge and show the others what a good manager should be like??

Whew...Maybe the Royal Pig will have his heart attack soon and a true professional will take his place.Good luck with your endurance.Bummer.

No, report him to HR, or call the employee help line

no.

Definitely go above her head and tell her boss. Her boss will be glad to hear the problem. Don t expect anything in return, however.Perhaps it is time for you to step up and become the GM, perhaps not. But the GM s boss is not going to fault you for bringing up something that could cost all of their employees. Remaining silent would be seen as incompetence, speaking up would be seen as making you management material. If you want to stay in this job a while, speak up.

Licenses required to start an (online) business in Texas? -

I am starting an e-commerce retail-type store, and I live in Texas.I have already obtained an Employer Identification Number from the IRS, and also I have filled out the papers for my LLC to be Incorporated as a Corporation.I need to know: What tax information do I fill out? Do I need more licenses to operate an ONLINE business? Does Texas charge sales tax on items sold online?

No, online based businesses doesn t need a license in Texas but you do need a to file a assumed name certificate at your local courthouse. Since you have a e-commerce site you need to collect Texas sales tax from Texas residents, it s called a sales tax permit. You can get the assumed name certificate at your local courthouse and fill out the form for sales tax permit on the Texas Secretory of State s web site.

I don t think you need a license to sell online, no. You need all the documents you wouldnt need for a real-world store though.
