Please help, need some business advice!? -

I have set up a fashion label. Designed four jackets and had the four samples made. I have marketed it and have a website and everything and had orders from several clients. I cannot afford to have the jackets made out of my own pockets any further as there are too many orders. Do you think the bank will lend me the money? I have a good business plan and they will see I have the clientelle, but I am worried they won t grant me the loan. I am in Toronto. Thanks in advance.

Hi I do not know about the Canadian system _ I am in ScotlandHowever if you have a bank account anyway the best place to start is at that bank. Just ask they will help even if it is to point you in the right direction.Yes there may be some merit in asking family and friends as the above answer directs - but this is only a short term measure and really the sooner you talk to a bank and get a formal arrangement set up the better - also the bank may have other sources of info helpfull to you - like business start up organisiations etc.Mostly in business it is a question of persevering and asking the right people the right questionsor even the right people the wrong questions as they will enlighten you.iF THE BANK SAY OFFER YOU LESS THAN YOU NEED OR MAYBE NEED YOU TO SHOW SOME FUNDS IN AN ACCOUNT THEN IS THE TIME TO ASK FAMILY AND FRIENDS IF THIS IS POSSIBLE.yYou can also ask clients to pay a deposit just to get you startedIf they are getting something unique and custom made then I am sure they will not mind.If the clients you mention are not individuals but stores wishing to re sell - then again you can ask for some cash up front - even if you have to reduce margins to offer them a better deal.If you are getting the jackets made up - then ask the makers for some credit as well maybe even a few weeks.Often in financing a business be it just set up or long established - the answer is a mix of sources.DepositsTrade credit for you banks loans or overdraftand maybe some bucks from family and or friends.Hope this helpsCoincedence you being CanadianI am just listening to Neil Young stuff on you tubeanyways hope this helpsGOOD LUCK

If the bank still refuses you, I suggest that you turn your passion/hobby into an information product online for people that earnestly desire it and will pay you your asking price. Visit: http://www.dollarsformyhobbies.blogspot.com Report Abuse

Almost every business requires start-up capital. Didn t your business plan cover that? You will need to find someone to loan you the money, probably someone who loves you. I don t believe a bank will be interested this early in the game. After you have established a track record, you can get a bank loan to grow the business.Your best bet for a loan is someone who loves you.
