What is the standard commission for an agency agreement? -

I have been offered 4% commission on net sales of a specific product, is this standard or should I ask for a higher commission

Totally depends on what you re selling. In advertising, agencies typically make 15 to 20%. In retail stores, sometimes it s 2%. If you re looking to be a product rep, I d look for more toward 10% than 4%. But also if there s any sort of base pay involved than expect your commission to be lower.

Rude ebay customer. How do I respond? -

I do internet sales as my job. Through emails a customer wanted to purchase some gloves from us a couple months ago. He kept trying to price haggle when the gloves were already marked down. I eventually told him he was exhausting me, we couldnt lower the price and told him to find a different store to purchase from then. Today Im checking my emails and he has wrote 4 times saying 3 months later we still have the gloves on ebay at the same price, not selling any of the pieces of crap . He called me a c**t/b*tch 2 times as well. Do I reply back to this guy or ignore him? I started to write a smart *** email back but I think he would enjoy that too much and I dont him to contact my boss/company (even though I d have the upper hand). What would you do?

Customers like that are a pain. You ve done enough in terms of responding to his nonsense e-mails at this point. I would print off copies of his e-mails and your responses and keep these on file just in case he contacts your boss. That way you have supporting evidence of what a problem he has been. As I m typing this, I m thinking that in your place I probably would e-mail him back and be so polite that it will really yank his chains. Say something to the effect that you re sorry he is so disappointed that you are unable to reduce the price on the gloves, but the price has been set at XXXX and you are not able to change that. Suggest that he might want to look for the gloves on other web sites and see if he can find a price that he finds suitable for his budget. Thank him for his continued interest in your merchandise and wish him a happy holiday season. I think here as in most irritating instances, it s better to take the high road and not ignore him and not be rude to him. Being rude back only encourages him to keep bothering you and ending off on this note puts things into perspective and having this last e-mail in the file will show your boss that you are competent and able to deal with problematic and non profitable customers. Take care and keep smiling! Don t let one bad customer ruin your day, you can t give him that power. Now, go to your happy place and have a cup of tea!

You should ignore their emails and report them to ebay. Profanity is considered a trading abuse and will be investigated by ebay. Here is the link to the page on ebay s website that explains it.http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/report-trIn theory the customer is always right, but when the customer steps over the line and becomes abusive, it is time to stop the communications.Good luck.

Forward the emails to ebay as harassment.

Can I ship an envelope as first class mail and claim it as a package? -

The problem is I want delivery confirmation but it says the envelope has to be more than 3/4 thick in order to get delivery confirmation. Can I claim it as a package instead so I could use both? Would thet not ship it and return it to me? Any advice? I don t really want it to be bulky since it s just a book and I m trying to save on shipping.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!All you re going to do is screw up, and it ll cost you more than the normal postage!

A book is a package because it is not a flat document. If you want to save on shipping, send it Media Rate.

Im 13 and i always wanted to have my own business [READ DESC]? -

ok so get this im 13 i have always dreamt of having my own business so i was wondering how BTW:my parents does not support me with this idea so please dont include them

Without your parents support and approval you could end up losing more money than earning. I would encourage you to do research because it s alot easier to spend money than it is to earn it. Check out the book Fast Cash for Kids by Bonnie Noel Drew (library) to show that your intent is more than just a phase. The library is an awesome start as you learn about accounting, marketing, taxes, and everything else that goes with having a legal business. Another book to read is The Richest Kids in America by Mark Vincent Hansen. You can get this from the library also. Did you know there are teens and tweens literally making millions of dollars? You could be one of them but be upfront and mature with what you re doing. Hiding things from your folks is neither.

At 13 you are not old enough to enter into any type of contract. That is essentially what any type of business is, a contract between two parties. So having a legitimate business without your parents support will be difficult. You can t purchase liability insurance, which is a must for any business these days. I don t want to discourage you, but your chances of starting a successful business without your parents help is pretty small. I would keep doing research into what types of things interest you and keep working toward your goal of being a business owner. Sorry I couldn t be of any real help. Good Luck!!

Just keep searching for what you are passionate about. At 13, there isn t much you can do but gather ideas about what you are interested in. Get a job in areas that you like and learn skills that you are interested in. That way you find out more about yourself and open doors to new places. When you get a job make sure you save a lot. Don t go out spending it, if you save money that means that is less money that you will have to borrow from the bank and a whole lot of other crap. Saving money right now is the most important thing. You can be successful, you just have to know what you want do. Also check out this website www.sba.gov.

Can an employeer force you to clock out and go home early on a scheduled shift? -

I work in a fast food chain, when business is slow the managers try and make the employees go home early to save labor. If I am scheduled until 4:00, am I entitled to stay until 4:00 no matter how busy or slow we may be.

YES it is not considered force though. However, not knowing where you are in the State of California lets say you showed up to work and it is a very slow day, and after 1 hour the manager wants you to go home. NOW in that case, by law he has to pay you for a minimum of 4 hours.

Do you have a union contract? If so ask the shop steward. If not, he is the boss.

Of course they can! You aren t entitled to anything.

How can the chamber of commerce help me? -

As far as helping make my business official so people don t think its a false company or a rip-off,and obtaining all necessary licenses.

Your best bet is to call or stop in and see them instead of asking here. COC s are like snowflakes.

You need to speak to an CPA firm they can file the necessary forms for you of course at a fee. You should know basically what licenses you ll need in your line of profession. But they will help with all the state and federal filings. Please do not listen to your barber as I hear many times.

Why am i trying to save a domain name for 10 dollars on yahoo small business but it charges me 35 dollars? -

Hey, $35 is Yahoo s regular price. You need to go with http://www.IdomainU.com where $9.99 is the regular price for the very same domain name. And don t worry, it is fully loaded with features.

I would like to start a website for my new business, where do I start? -

I m not sure whether to start the website using a program or paying someone to do it for me?

That ll depend in some factors, like business needs and personal preferences. Is your business needs a simple, but presentable website to start with? Do you think you are going to need some programming involved?Such as an email form, quizzes, polls, documentation search, surveys, etc.You can try to start buying some software/templates, but you ll still need the hosting server, the web address, and how to set it all up.If you never used a program to do anything in the subject, I would advice you to make a list of what you want in your website, and prioritize them. Also google free hosting server , open an account and try to mess around with it. At the least you ll have a better understand of your needs.Good luck!

You can start out with Free websites.YolaWeeblycheck net for others. These are easy to create websites if you are IT Literate. They are free and you can publish them within hours. Check out mine below, so you have an idea or go to Yola and weebly and check out others. They can also be set up to accept payment on line - which I have also done. If you are happy with it, may be later you could upgrade to a domain.Best Wishes

I want to start my own business, do I really need to finish college? -

Im a junior in college and I am HATING it. I don t like my major and cant find one that fits what I am interested in and I just cant stay motivated. I love to paint and have made a small name for myself painting children s furniture and bedroom accessories. My dream is to start my own business painting. The only problem is I cant do both. I cant go to school AND try to start my own business. So my question is; should I stay in college and finish or pursue my goal of starting my own business and finish college at a later date, if at all?

its highly advisable that you finish college first as is the case with anybody. but no, you do not need to finish college to start a business. Microsoft, Dell, Apple and I believe Oracle were started by people who did not complete their pursuits of higher education. your real worry should be whether or not your business venture would be profitable. selling art is hard, painting, even harder.

I too am a junior in college and starting an online business. If you paint cool stuff sell it on etsy.com. You can do both - you re almost done. Just finish up with whatever degree you are working on and do what you love.Trust me, I didn t finish college the first time around and now I m trying to get it done when I m older....no fun.

You quit now, it will haunt you for the rest of your life. so, dig in and make it like as if this is your business.

In my opinion...College degrees are only helpful if you plan on working for someone else. Thats it.To work for yourself, you do need knowledge in alot of areas...but this is attainable online and in bookstores and from your personal experience...there is much material available that is extremely current and authored by people who are out doing it and being successful at it (speaking about whatever subject or skills you are looking at)College is ultra structured, and the information isn t always current....most grads green from college have to sort of be retrained anyway when they get in the workforce... molded and shaped so-to speakA college degree by no means automatically increases your chances for success..but knowledge IS essentiall.People who think otherwise about college degrees are just drones....who work for someone else....for a pittance of a wage.(shrug)

Is there a time limit on filing a suit in small clams court?, amp; how does it work?.? -

i bought a car from my cousins friend. it took me several months to pay for. i took the car back to the guy because it as leaking oil. he then informed me i needed a new engine. while the car was at his shop it was vandalized beyond repair. is he lible?.

in CA, 1 year SOL, if you signed some paperwork for the repair, could argue it was a contract, then a 3 or 4 year SOL (statute of limitations) And if you go to small claims, the whole cousins friend part is a waste. Could have bought it from Ed McMahon, it does not matter. Be to the point.

Your comprehensive insurance should cover vandalism. Call your agent.
