I am a graduate student in a Master s of Science program in Counseling Psychology, and I m pretty apathetic about my ability to generate some decent cash flow in this profession within any reasonable amount of time. I ve flirted with the idea of opening a business for the last 8 or so years, but have never come up with a good, solid idea. Low overhead is key, as I have little to invest and want to start as small as possible. Any ideas for me? Any resources you could suggest to get my mind working in opportunity mode? My strengths are in customer service, psychology/human relations, communication, etc. I have owned one business before, which put me through University-- Aquarium maintenance and consulting--but it has since gone under. Any ideas would be great. I live in Marin county, which is densely populated with college educated political liberals and independents, and a high percentage of self-reported health-conscious folks, if that helps any. What can I market to them??
I m also hoping to follow the footsteps in becoming a successful entrepreneur. As you should already know 90% of businesses tank in the first year alone, but this should not discourage you if your motivated and equipped with the right mind set. Starting your own business is not just about having a dream. There are real steps to ensure your business a successful start. So what are all of the things you should consider when launching your new brainchild ????? You, like every new business owner, must have asked yourself at one time or another, what kind of business entity is best suited for my particular operation? For most entrepreneurs, the answer lies within two specific questions.- Legal liability: How can I get the best protection from general business liabilities that can threaten not only my business assets but my family s assets as well?- Tax considerations: How can I get the best tax breaks out of the business entity that I select? Remember that once you have established your business the most important thing is promoting and establishing your identity , make sure to realize and ask your self questions such as, what am I really good at? What do I and my company do better than anybody else? Am I correctly focused on that core competence? The key here is to get started and get going. People are different, so start anywhere you d like, it won t matter. You ll fill in the rest when it s needed. This way you ll be able to see results quickly, and that will help you stay motivated as you do your planning. Hope i could Help Good luck
