Please help me understand this....? -

As of January 1, 2007, the partnership of Canton, Yulls and Garr had the following account balances and percentages for the sharing of profits and losses:Cash $ 80,000Noncash assets 205,000Liabilities 47,000Canton, Capital (30%) 138,000Yulls, Capital (40%) 119,500Garr Capital (30%) (19,500)The partnership incurred losses in recent years and decided to liquidate. The liquidation expenses were expected to be $10,000.1) How much cash should have been distributed safely to partners at this time?2) How much cash should each partner have received at this time?

Since the non-cash asset value is over four times the total liabilities all but $10,000 of the cash can be distributed to the partners. The $70,000 should be distributed in the same proportion as the capital of each of the partners 30% each to Canton and Garr and 40% to Yulls).Hope this helpsJerry-the-bookkeeper

What is the best way to advertise your business on the web? -

I recently opened a small online business. I need to advertise so that I can get clients. I don t want to waste money on things that don t work.. so...What s the most effective way to advertise on the web and what s worked for you?

First good luck with your site.. There is many ways ... 1- Being here on answers.. you can go to your specialty category, and try to answer questions honestly (With subtle hints about your site and a link ??)2- emails.. go to the sites / blogs/ etc... which are about your subject of business.. know people from there.. and start making email ads.. you could send daily numerous emails to people whom you know interested in your products , etc...3- adding your site informaTION with business cards.. 4- Flyer s and business cards.. and you have to go to nearby colleges/ universities... etc... (And the near cities as well).. and pass them or hang them on the boards..5- Trying to contact other small business sites as well.. and make a deal with the owner of each site for swapping / putting each other site ads on each one site .. etc....And there is plenty more.. sure idea s .. yet you would have to pay me for consultation.. LOL.. Any help i will be more than glad.. Best wishes for you and your business.. have a great day ..

You can be active on forums related to your website or post comments to other post so other users will see your name and click on your profile. Post your website link to your profile so they can access it. It s one of the most effective things why people earn from selling pictures from flickr even if it doesn t cost much to buy photos. Check out this tutorial for that: http://websitecoaching.net/is-there-a-good-tutorial-to-making-an-ecommerce-website/

Use this company. They are HUGELY popular but also still pretty new, so their prices are still affordable, haha! I ve used them myself 3x they are super memorable catchy. Normal advertising might get you calls or clicks, but I ve found because of the memorable personal nature of the service they provide, actual dollars in sales are the result, not just calls or clicks. It s really cool because people remember it see it all over the web.Pretty girls (or guys) wear your website or company message on a t shirt all day, take photos of themselves blog about your company. Then they blast it on facebook, youtube, myspace, all of the social media sites, PLUS search engines over over all month.I ve used them myself 3x they are super memorable catchy. Normal advertising might get you calls or clicks, but I ve found because of the memorable personal nature of the service they provide, actual dollars in sales are the result, not just calls or clicks. The best way is word of mouth, now you can go about this by spamming which is never good so search forums related to your product, say your selling avon then message a womans health/beauty website owner and see if it would be ok to post your link to your website.make a myspace just for your company make a facebook a twitter profile ect. but most of all is word of mouth so advertise for free on forums and groups then bookmark it add your site to google search add alot of tags related to your product anything remotely close to relating...Good luck hope i helped

Holiday care, permit? Age limit? -

My friend and i are 14 and want to run a holiday FUn day during the school break, there would be one for the 2=6/7 yr olds at the adventure playground, including a mad-hatters tea-party and games with prizes. And another day for the older kids, at the movie theatre, then walking to the ice-cream parlour for an icecream. We will probably have one of our parents Comign, but maybe not.Do we need to get a permit or something similar or can we just go ahead

No permit or license required

If you sell sumthing brand new on ebay still in box and sealed in pics could buyer just lie and say...? -

that they just received an empty box???? im trying to sell an expensive game system (ps3) and it hasnt been opened even. well i wanna sell it on ebay which would mean all they would see in the pics is the box obviously since its brand new and not opened, but could they just lie and say they only received the box?? given that in the pic the only thing youd technically see is the box..should i just open it to take pics of the contents as a safeguard? or should i not worry about that? i only ask because its an expensive item and i know a lot of ppl on ebay are sneaky and dishonost..are sellers protected against this type of fraud? i plan on shipping with UPS and getting insurance and tracking #. i havent sold many real big things on ebay so im a noob and little nervous about an item this expensive. thanks

I d just use Craigslist honestly.

I dont know, i usually dont use ebay, but maybe you could weigh it first and put the actual weight on there. An empty box would weigh a lot less than a box with a ps3 in it. Personally, I feel its safer to buy things sealed in the box, I feel more comfortable that way as a buyer, and I am pretty sure other buyers would too, that way they can t blame you for messing it up then selling it.

Yes take a pic of the contents. Get insurance on it when shipping it. Get a delivery receipt.

ok YOU have one thing to seel on FEEEE BAY what happens after YOU sell it ?tumtum dee tumm YOU lose money 3 ways e bays massive listing fees E bays after sale fees and the pay pal fees of 30% + .30 cents for the transaction OK now i ssume YOU already have this E bay account already and can list as BUY only at set price if NOT your going to have to put it up fr auction !Then YOUR requiredto sell it to highest bidder but i think YOU take it down if YOUR min price that you posted for auction isn t MET still YOU have to PAY for that auction = MORE $ you lost HELLO ? Our salon has a credit card machine. Owner wants to charge us $1 per client + 5% of our tips. Is this normal? -

We have a credit card machine at our grooming salon. We work on straight commission and tips. There is no hourly wage. We earn a percentage of each dog that we groom. There is a tip line available on the credit card slip if clients feel that they want to leave a gratuity. Most of our customers do leave tips. The salon owner says that the machine and the tip line is costing her hundreds a month so she wants to have us give her $1 per client plus 5% of our tips. Is this normal at other pet grooming or human grooming salons? I know you can t give me an exact amount because it varies on the type of business, volume etc., but generally how much does the tip line cost and what is the average cost for a credit card machine per month?

Yeah, 5% is way too high - though it depends on the credit card that you re using -- I believe traditionally Amex takes the biggest percentage of each sale. There s also a rule, it was a MasterCard rule that you weren t allowed to charge customers more if they were charging. Now this doesn t apply here since you re not a customer, but the intent there is that they didn t want the use of a credit card to be perceived as a disadvantage compared to cash. In your boss s own way, that s what he s doing with you. I don t think it s specifically against their rules, but it goes against the intent. And as another poster suggested, it s not your fault people want to charge. It s your boss s decision to have the machine and he s done so because it s a sales advantage (or rather not having one would be a disadvantage). The $1 per client is bogus. Most POS vendors charge very little per month - if it s hundreds, they should find a different one. It s the percentage that s the big part, and if it s 5% it would only be because he has a bad credit rating or is considered a risk.

No, it is not really normal and is illegal in some states. Tell the owner that you are willing to renegotiate your contract but that what she is asking for is not reasonable. The credit card companies charge between 2-5% of the total transaction. A $1 fee per client transaction may be way more than that 2-5%. Sound to me like she is trying to get more revenue from you.

Credit card companies charge the owner of the service a fee for every transaction. On the plus side you may potentially get more business because a lot of people carry cards instead of cash. On the down side you have to pay all of the fees associated with accepting credit cards.

5% is too high. Maybe around 3%. I think merchants pay Visa and mastercard about 3% for the transaction.is she shuts down the line her customers will go away. that would be foolish way to save money. If you have any say in it tell her you will not tolerate it.

It kind of sucks for you, but also your boss needs to do whatever she needs to make sure her business is profitable. That said, you should confirm her exact expenses so you are not paying more than she pays. This shouold reimburse her, not be profitable for her.Her credit card fees can be set up various ways. Many charge a small fee per transaction ( a few cents) plus a small percentage. I usually see around 3% but it varies. Sometimes there is a flat monthly fee as well.My suggestion is to agree to split the percentage for the services and to agree to pay the percentage on the tips, BUT you should confirm with her what her fees actually are per transaction.

Who created the Hansen Rule Curve use by the New York Thruway Authority? -

who created the Hansen Rule Curve use by the New York Thruway Authority? In other words who signed the agreement?

The Hicks-Hansen IS-LM Model:I think NYTA signed up for it as part of an accounting program with Hanson and his partners. The Hubbert curve was put out by,Hubbert, M. King. If I rember right Hanson had a partner or more. The result is that time goes into a Curve, and the curve has the elements to use as time advances. The points of the curve indicate unequal margins.
