I am a business owner that operates a machine shop. My electrical bill might force me to layoff 2 employees? -

They have families and kids. I am trying to cut cost instead of laying off people. Please help me. Is there an alternative energy I can use? We are Pacific NW based. Fuel cell is expensive. Solar energy is not an option; we hardly have sunshine in our area and it s too costly. Any ideas? Please help.

cut everyones hours.when the shop does better and them back.as for power even a generator has cost. sunshine or not daylight is all you need. just lights alone will save some. check with you electric company for links and info

first you need to determine what exactly is costing you high electric bills. Is it that there are outdoor lights or cameras or maybe even someone tapping into your electric box. You need to keep the light off in the bathroom until someone is in there. You need to get fans instead of using the ac, perhaps even better insulation around the windows and insulated draperies. Now about machines running...when done with a project one must pull the plug out of the outlet as electricity still flows when the machine is off. I m sure you don t want to invest in different equipment but maybe there would be equipment out there that somehow saves on electricity (like there are washers and dryers and refrigerators that are electricity savers). You could also eliminate a few pieces of equipment that you plug in often and maybe make do with just a few pieces of equipment. Maybe you could use sunlight more from the windows instead of a lot of lighting. Maybe the lighting you have could be directed directly onto what you re working on instead of all the lights across the ceiling being on. Maybe you could have sections of your workshop on separate electric lines so that only sections of the shop can be lit and not the entire workshop all at once. Figure out what is most wasting your electricity and work on that. ....then perhaps somewhere else you are spending could be cut so that you can have ample electricity. Where else could you cut? Can you reduce the phone bill, supplies, gas and transportation, can you somehow get more back from your taxes, how about delivery charges, and charge card interest or interest on other types of loans. Can you increase the cost of your product by a few cents or a few dollars and still sell what you make? How about a cut in the salaries so you can keep them working? Or what additional job could they take on or your shop take on to bring in more money? Is there anything you can sell that you don t need anymore?

How to open a pawn shop? -

What is best marketing technique for new small business without an office or retail location? -

Our company is based off of a guerilla business model, which has us starting out with having our office based out of an apartment for the time being. Because we don t have a physical location such as in a mall strip or office park, we cannot present ourselves with a place where clients can do walk-ins. We are strictly by appointment, but we want to generate steady traffic as a retail location might do. What would be the best marketing technique to use in our scenario, given that our budget is somewhat tight? I have heard that mass mailing is definitely an option, but have also heard that door hangers are even a cheaper route, but we may have to obtain a loitering license?

There is a book I am currently reading called: The lead generation handbook : how to generate all the sales leads you ll ever need-- quickly, easily, and inexpensively! by Robert Bly. So far it has been a great book. It talks about strategies for getting more leads from the marketing materials that you do use. I have a business myself doing home repairs and also do in home estimates. I have found sites that are lead aggregaters or generators. People looking for your service or product go to their website and then they send you their info. It costs money but at least for our work it is profitable. Door to Door is also very effective because we have the chance to remind people that they need our service by pointing something out they need when we speak with them at their door. We have tried to use door hangers before and it didn t work for our service, but that could be because of a poor layout and offering. Good luck!

I believe you will be violating housing laws if you operate out of an apartment and have people coming to your apartment. Additionally, lots of people coming to your apartment might get you reported as a drug dealer. You need to find another way to do your business - website, meet customers at a coffee shop, etc. Many people work from home but few have customers coming to their homes. The marketing method doesn t change. You just don t put an address in your ads.

If that is Not Possible, Put it on-line with any of 10,000 Proxy Servers with Pictures of your Product and a Contact Phone and E- Mail. As soon as you have made enough Money, Rent a Booth in a Mall or Kiosk somewhere, or even a Flea Market . I started this business with a 13 year old pick-up truck and a $500.00 Charge Card for Gas a few years ago. I now have 5 Full Time Drivers and a Gross Income of close to a Half Million Dollars $500,000.00 This Year. Never Bring a Prospect to your Apartment or Home! What is your opinion about free shipping for items bought online, especially on eBay? Please state...? -

...whether you re an online buyer, online seller, or neither. Thanks!

well free shipping normally means hugh upcharge on the product...atleast on ebay thats what it means. like for instance a honda civic carbon fiber hood is 500 dollars on ebay and freee shipping..i can get a hood locally for over 150 less. but....ebay still has better prices on almost everything else. free shipping can also be just another key selling point.

That its great because you are getting free delivery...

I think it s a good idea. It stops people from marking up shipping charges.

What can a 13 year old do for a home based business? -

My babysitting practice recently collapsed and now i am looking for another home business/way to make money that I can do from home or with limited to full work in the community. My options are open other than mowing lawns, housework, etc. I will be 14 in february and I am currently in 8th grade. Any suggestions???

I know this girl Nori who started her own web business at 14. She is 17 now and will never have to work a real 9-5 job in her life. Read her case study. It s listed below under Nori Evoy - Anguilla Beaches.com If anything, reading it will open some ideas for you.Good luck!

You have alot of options. What are your skills? hobbies? interests? You should focus on finding and filling the needs of your potential customers, not on your needs for money. Trust me, do what you love and the money will follow. Do you have a library near you? Check out the following two books... Fast Cash for Kids by Bonnie Noel Drew and The Richest Kids in America by Mark Vincent Hansen. You will be amazed!!! You can do so much besides outside and inside chores if you put your mind (and energy) into it. Don t let your age be a handicap... be the best at what you do. What about teaching computers? writing about personal interests? making crafts? cooking or baking??? What s wrong with washing windows or laundry/ironing? recycling or selling thermostats/energy light bulbs??? Oh, the list goes on and on but the more you say no to an idea, the more you are limiting yourself... and your income. What do your customers want/need??? That s the answer for you!!!

i agree, i hate spam they are so annoying!!well i am trying babysitting now but other ways i have found money is a ask my parents for an increase allowance if i do more chores, which has worked i now get $5 extra every week! which adds up to alot at the end of the month :)another way i tried once was selling cupcakes in a friendly community, but they was overseas so there were so health laws and conditions. but i made about $35 from thatlasty i sold my creations and a sunday market. i make earrings and although i only sold 1 ($5) i took on the advice that was given to me and now i am trying to improve on them and sell more maybe some other time :)

Purchased Jersey on eBay and packaging damaged? -

Hi, I purchased a Jersey through eBay and paid $10 for the shipping. When it arrived today it came in an ordinary paper envelope that had rips on both sides exposing the jersey. The jersey was a bit wet but not damaged. I was just wondering if there is anything I can do? I paid through paypal so I am insured. I just think its wrong that the seller gets away with that kind of packaging. Any suggestions/previous experienced welcome. Thanks

file a complaint with paypal and tell them you want your shipping money back.

Check what the shipping specs were in the original listing, and make sure that the seller followed them. Aside from that though, if they didn t specify what type of packaging or envelope it would be sent in, this is one of those live and learn experiences. I guess just be thankful that there wasn t too much damage, and be a little more proactive with your future purchases. I know proper packaging seems like common sense...but that s not something you can always count on :(

Anything you can do about WHAT? You said yourself the item was not damaged. Just be happy with your new jersey and forget about your pointless complaint. You ordered an item, you received an item. The seller got away with nothing.

it probably isn t the Seller s fault - probably damaged in the post - BUT...the jersey is not damaged...why make such a fuss - sounds like you are making a mountain out of a molehill!!

Give them neutral feedback, telling that your package wasn t shipped well.

What are the home-based businesses (that can be run from your own home)? -

If you want a home business that is scaleable - i.e. make it bigger with the same effort - I d avoid getting into handling hard goods (for example eBay: good, quick earner but it s hard work to make a living off). Why not start a website, and earn passive income from that? If you ve got a specific skill, knowledge or passion you could monetize your website with adverts and promote products related to your website theme. It can be run from wherever provided you have an internet connection. The trouble with working from home is you need to be engaging in companies trading, and being online gives you the entire world to play with. Have a look at this resource: http://www.how-to-build-a-website.co.uk/make-a-website-now.html

I have run businesses from home for the last 22 years, some as self employed and another as the Production Director. What I would forget is running a traditional manufacturing business, as there you are responsible for everything such as making, selling , delivering, as well as all the office work. The big problem is if you are doing one of those jobs at a certain time, then the others are not being done. For the last 10 years I have been working in partnership with a major international company, a world leader in its field with some really exciting products and services. The job is really simple, all I do is acquire customers for the company, which is very easy thanks to the latest products, and at the same time I am also helping and showing others how to do exactly the same. The income potential is substantial and the beauty of the business is that the parent company does all the day to day administration which normally takes up so much time. There is one thing you must remember however, this is a business and you must have the drive and determination to be successful. What I like about the parent company is that they go out of their way to make sure that people like me are successful and have the opportunity to create whatever level of income we want.Douglas

I am in a business that is just $25 to get into. You will break even after the very first sale. It will have you earning a residual income.I am also on the #1 team in the company. My team leader is a very successful internet marketer and he provides training that he has invested thousands of dollars on. He provides this at no additional costs. I wont tell you how much he is making off this little $25 business but you can check out this VIDEO PROOF here. You can email if you are interested. What agency deals with dentist offices whose billing practices seem shady? -

Smilecare in Jacksonville Florida turned in a claim over a year and a half late and billed twice for the same procedure. The bill has been turned over to a collections agency at this point.

The state insurance commission, or board labor/wages. In Tallahassee, FL last I knew. I know some hosp can bill up to a year later, don t know why they get away with this, cause they start sending over due notices withing 30 days or so. Keep copies or dispute it in small claims court.

If you never paid for the service they can bill you more than twice. If you paid anything toward this charge/service, and they didn t reduce the amount you owe, then you should call the better business bureau in your area and register a complaint. While your complaining - explain why you haven t made any payments.
