What is the cheapest way to register a name of the company as a trade mark name? -

Fairfax is partly right in his answer to you, but is quite wrong when he/she stated a company name cannot be registered as a trade mark. If you are a business and wish to register your company name as a Trade Mark you CAN indeed do this. Think about Nike or Coca-Cola or Apple . They are all company names and registered trade marks.Anything that anybody wants to become a registered trade mark must however be registrable. The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) have trade mark examiners who take certain things into consideration when deciding to accept or reject a trade mark application. These considerations are laid down in The Trade Marks Act 1994.However, if it is your company name, and it is a name you use in trade then you shouldn t have a problem registering it. It currently costs ��200 for a trade mark application; you can get the ball rolling by visiting http://www.ipo.gov.uk/types/tm/t-os/t-os-forms/tm3-introduction/tm3-servicesfees.htm in the first place.It should be noted that you do not have to register your trade mark with IPO to gain protection. As well as registered Trade Marks there is also the option of unregistered trade marks. These are indicated with (TM) after the mark. A registered trade mark uses the (R) symbol. You do not get the same criminal protection with an unregistered trade mark, but you do still have civil protection. The IPO site contains further information on this subject.To answer your question directly, there is no cheaper option, there is only one option, and that is direct with IPO. You are confusing two quite seperate things. A company name must be registered at Companies House, whereas a trademark must be applied for at the Intellectual Properties Office.You cannot register a company name as a trademark.

There is no insurance through paypal if you are not ordering with ebay. you can dispute it if you dont get your merchandise, but its a long process.
