What major would I want to choose in order to run my own record label? -

I m a college freshman right now and have a multitude of options available to me.

You should consult your academic and/or career advisor(s) for more formal advice. If your school is worth its salt, they should give you this advice for free, as part of your tuition.But, if I were your advisor, I would suggest double-majoring in business (the universal major if you ask me) and music.

In the current marketing Tech-Boom, are business cards considered ineffective?? -

I sell video games/systems and have been trying to figure out the best way to market myself.

You can print business cards for free.

You could list your website on the business card.Also, have you tried hosting video game tournaments? Like Guitar Hero/Rock Band nights, Halo nights, COD nights, etc.Or contacting local schools (high schools and colleges) and offer to sponsor something or advertise in their sports programs (programs, in this case, meaning the printed guides they hand out/sell during games)?It all depends on how big your marketing budget is.Good Luck!

I ve owned a successful internet company for the last 12 years.I never once used a business card.BUT....It wouldn t hurt to print some up. You can probably get 500 for $20Your best marketing strategy would be to make sure your website shows up on Google and Yahoo.

i think people still look at business cards. put as much info as you can on them, phone no/website etc. vistaprint usually have some good offers on, not sure if its just for the UK though.

The second someone asks you for a business card and you don t have one, you ll know the answer.

Want to open a consignment shop or a retail store.... need advice? please? -

Heres the deal... My aunt is a shopaholic... we have 4 huge storage units and about another 4 bedrooms filled with clothes and houseware stuff - ALL BRAND NEW with tags and they are all brand names..... We need to sell all of it to get her out of debt etc.... ebay would be too tedious and we just want to open a store for a few months to get rid of it all.... any ideas on how to begin? thanks in advance!

Best way , and better than opening a retail store for few months .. Retail store will cost you rent, preparation, attracting traffic, signs, etc............... which will probably exceed more than $15.000-$20,000 for only couple of months..so best way .. start making a plan for a yard sale (and make it every 2 weeks).. you need a very careful and clear plan first, about all the steps.. 1- you need to pick the place (better to make it in a alot of traffic area) ask your church or a near relative who have place like that.. this is better than making in her yard if there is no high traffic) 2- Decide the date.. (Dates) for how long etc.... 3- Make fliers (Print them even copy print on staples or office depot) it will cost at most $50.00 for 1000 flyers.. and then you have to start pass them 2-3 days before the yard sale .. and on the days of sale as well.. 4- make a classified ads on your local newspaper , runs for a week / 3 days.. the costs no more than ($20.00-$50.00).. 5- don t forget to put your flyers on the boards of restaurants, churches, etc..... you will find that your total costs with all of that would not exceed $200.00 with all those ads and preparation.. less than 1% of the costs of store and etc.. Plus you could start it this weekend or the next .. not like the store which will need 3-8 weeks to make it ready .. hope this help,Good luck and have a great day ..

Do the posting in local news paper, Publish classified ads through internet, Submit your store listing in google local business, Submit your business information on shopping sites. How to let the customers know which of my store he bought from? -

Hi, anyone any ideas about this problem? i have 5 online book stores now, just different store have different policy. so every time when my customers got their books, they are confused about which of my store they bought. what can i do in the parcel to let them know this clearly? i decided to put a card which listed all of my store names in every parcel. how about i write something in this card like this dear, the following are all my stores, you can check in these stores to see which store you bought from me is that better? When I sell something from one of my stores, I include a card with their order saying which store they got the product from. The card is printed with all the names of 3 of my stores and what type of goods are sold in each, each store name has a box next to it and I make a check mark in the box in bright red ink showing which one they bought from. The card also has a message thanking them and asking them to keep the card for at least 30 days in case they have any problem so they can easily contact us to help solve the problem.That way they know where their money went and are able to check out the other 2 to see of there is something in them they might be interested in. Have gotten some really good feedback from customers by doing that as it is easy and they don t get confused.

When they purchase the item the confirmation email should state which store it was bought from. There should also be a seperate barcode numbering system for each site or something in your website software (algorithm) that defines and assigns the data to a specific website. The database will then send the confirmation email with the correct store named. As long as your policies are listed on each website legally your ok. BUT in BOLD somewhere where all can see on EACH website you should list all the websites and state that EACH WEBSITE HAS A DIFFERENT POLICY SO PLEASE READ. That might help angry customers calm down or limit them.Easy answer? Just make a universal policy thats cohesive to all your sites needs. When someone SUBMITS the order for transmission a popup should cover the screen and explain that:THIS SITE HAS 4 OTHER SISTER SITES. THEY ALL HAVE DIFFERENT POLICIES. PLEASE REVIEW THE POLICY FOR THIS SITE. CLICK HERE TO COMPLETE TRANSACTION OR CLICK HERE TO COMPLETE TRANSACTION AND HAVE THE POLICY FOR THIS SITE EMAILED TO YOU.Good luck..
