I work in community care starting most days at 7am last shift 9-930pm start again 7am is this legal? -

You are legally entitled to 11 hours rest in any 24 hour period and cannot be required to work more than 48 hours per week. You can exceed this if you wish but your employer cannot enforce it. You may have been given an Opt Out Agreement to sign which effectively waives this law but you can retract your consent in writing if you wish.Acas can provide you with any information you require on the Working Time Directive - http://www.acas.co.uk/index.aspx?article or other employment issues.

legally, you should have 12 hour break, so if you finish at 9-9.30 you shouldn t start until 9-9.30 the next day. usually in community care, and other caring professions as well as catering and hospitality you will have signed a contract agreeing to work whatever hours. Even if you don t sign a contract, after 3 months (might be wrong on the 3) you are considered to accept the terms of the employment contract, even if you haven t seen it! for further advice try ACAS...they are up to date on the legalities

I worked in the caring profession for many years. One of my responsibilities was rotas. Whilst i tried to avoid back to back shifts, it wasn t always possible. However, on the rare occasions it presented difficulties for the staff member, a chat to me usually resolved the problem by swapping with someone else.Rather than looking at the legality issues (I am sure the shifts are legal), if you have difficulties, why don;t you chat to your line manager and see if a solution can t be found. An amicable solution is always better than confrontation.Incidentally I loved my job, the residents were great - I teased them and was teased in turn. And when the day staff went home, I still had jobs to do and was invariably on duty before the day staff arrived.

Legally, as long as you have 8 hours between leaving and returning it is legal. I worked those hours for 14 years.

What if I am sued in small claims court and dont pay? -

What happens if I am sued in small claims court (under $500) by a business and I don t pay? Can they put a lien on my property? I am 61 and on disability social security

they can do anything the court and your state s laws allow -- attach you bank account, etc. that the disability check went in there isn t a bar to that unless the judge refuses to issue the order.

In a small claims court judgment, if you don t pay, the winner of the court case would have to take you back to court for enforcement of the judgment . 85% of all small claims court winners never get the money awarded by the court. If they do enforce the judgment, then the court can attach to your property, but disability checks are exempt from attachment, levies, and garnishments.

They can more than likely hold you in contempt of court because it was court ordered based on the judgement that you pay. See if you can work out a payment arrangement. If you just ignore it, its only going to get worse and become more of a problem. Technically yes, a lien can be placed and the IRS can also withhold any refunds come tax time if you have failed to comply with a court ordered settlement.

How old do you got to be to pawn ? -

i need the money today, i am 20 but don t know how the hole pawn shop thing works. someone who know give me answer

You should be old enough to enter into contracts. At 20 years old, you are now considered an adult; but depending on where you live, they might have local laws saying you have to be at least 21 to enter into certain contracts.

You have to be 18 to pawn something. You will be required to show ID in which they will write down all your info, or make a xerox copy of it.Take your stuff to the pawn shop. You will be given about 1/3 of its value in cash.If you do not return the items within a specified amount of time, they keep your items. You can also, ask them to buy it outright - also 1/3 of value./

Any Self Employment Ideas Anyone ? -

Hi all, Any Self Employment Ideas, ( offline, not related to the WWW.) that i can start from home at little or no cost? Please Advise.

i think small shop under a big complex with xerox machine and 2 to 3 std phones and one fax will fetch u good money i know that with little of recharging of mobile phones

That s a a huge question. I mean first you are being unrealistic when you say start from home at little or no cost. That s every person s dream and if it was possible, there would be no joblessness. The reality is being self-employed COSTS. You have to make an investment in the business. People think being self-employed is easier than being employed and actuall its harder because you play all the roles (janitor, accountant, marketing, president, secretary, etc.) and you have to keep the business afloat and take ALL the risks. No matter what idea you come up with you STILL have to sell it to the public so people can buy your product or service. Marketing and advertising costs (big time). Even if you said, you are going to clean peole s houses for a living. Well guss what...you have to sell yourself and gain people s trust for them to hire you. That s work. You have to purchase supplies and business products. That s costs. So the first thing is to change your mentality about being self-employed. There is no such thing as a get rich quick or get employed quick plan. You first have to decide what it is you have a passion for and then see how you can turn that passion into dollars by offering it as a service or product. don t chase money because believe me your motivation will sour real fast when the challenges of running a business come upon you.I know a guy who has a mobile car detail business. Again you will need some start up. He has his truck, a huge water tank, cleaning supplies and he goes from corporation to corporation washing people s cars in the business parking lots while people are at work. He makes great money just at our office alone. But it s work.so first sit down and decide what it is you have a passion for.
