What is the best/most common free/low cost inventory management app? From parts to finished products as well..? -

I have a small biz and we build electronic devices and soon enough we have about 500 different items with 10,000pcs or more of each and they go into products and inventory is a nightmare!!! How can I make life easier with everything on a single database and the software will know to convert items to finished products when i enter they are ready? Thanks!!!

Which accounting software are you using? Typically, accounting software will have an inventory module. Check if that provides close to the features that you are looking for.Alternatively you can look for a Business Suite (also known as ERP). There are a variety of ERP software options available in free open source software. Making a good selection will depend on several factors. However, I am going to suggest one free open source manufacturing ERP solution for you to evaluate.PostBookshttp://www.xtuple.com/postbooksPostBooks is focused on manufacturing. It has the following modules of interest to you - Purchasing, Product Definition and Inventory. For example, in the product definition module you will set up how many of which components make up each product.Automation World did a review earlier this year:http://www.automationworld.com/blog-5096This software can be downloaded free of charge. However, you still need to budget for installation, training and support. The PostBooks vendor offers licensed and supported premium versions as well.

How can I go about opening up a small boutique in the Atlanta area? -

I have a strong desire to open up a fashion boutique. Right now in my life, it doesn t have to be a high end boutique, but I would like to know how to go about things. How do I began to get loans, items for the boutique, help, business letter, etc?I would like to have 1) wedding consignment boutique and/or 2) a fashion boutique. Please Help!!

I would set up a time to visit the Small Business Development Center and Business Consultants in Atlanta --through the Small business Administration. There are lots of resources there that can help you. They will help you even research to determine if it is a viable idea; just because you think it is a good idea, does not mean the target market is there; help draw up a business plan; guide you toward loans (however in this economy --they have been sparse). I would focus on one of the two ideas above----make that one successful. I would also suggest you read Michael Gerber s E Myth and E Myth Revisited. I would also look on the internet and find boutiques in other cities and talk with the owners to find out what challenges and successes they have. Some will be willing to talk with you, some may not.

Companies to Offer Client Financing Options? -

Hello all. I would like to open up a new avenue to attract more clients in these hard economic times. Does anyone know any GOOD companies to use for financing options? I would like to sell my services to those who have a steady cash flow but not enough to purchase a project in full upfront. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Depends....what are your services?

Looking to purchase wholesale...what do I need? -

Hello there, Im just looking for some information about starting a small business from home selling items on eBay. I m looking to find out what kind of licenses/permits/# s I would need to purchase from various TRUE wholesale suppliers that require you to have specific licenses and such. I am from Ontario, Canada, so if anyone knows about the laws and regulations in this specific province, that would be great! Thanks

Maybe in Canada it is different, but in the UK I just went there with the van, a wad of cash and maybe some headed company papers and my documents and said: I ll have a pallet of that, two of those and maybe 25 boxes of this and let s hope they make me enough money to come back for more... Next time I d go there with two vans and double the money and expect to pay 5% less, if not... I was on to the next one.And that was my license.

um,it is still a difficult problem for me to open up a business,I am learning about this too.My friend teach me that one of the most important thing is to find a reliable wholesale suppliers.Hope it also helped you. The sources he gave me are:http://www.ebay.comOrhttp://www.DHgate.comOr http://www.ebay.cometc. Hope you will make it a successful business.

Docking a salary employee? -

I have an employee who was salaried every 2 weeks, he worked one full day, did not call or show up the next, then came in for 2 hours to get his paycheck and then quit, can I legally pro-rate his pay based on the actual hours he did work for his last paycheck? I would take his salary amount divided by the number of days he works, then divide that by how many hours a day to determine his hourly pay rate.

You should be able to do this. However, it is best to contact your local Department of Labor office, or a local attorney specializing in this area to ensure that you are correct. Don t rely on the words of strangers on the internet. You can start your search for the Department of Labor here:http://www.dol.gov/

That depends on your state s labor laws and your contract with the employee state.Consult your state s Department of Labor to find out what you can legally do in this case.

How to open my store on EBAY? -

I m trying to open a store but it s not seem to be working.I have accumulated 8 positive feedbacks. What are the conditions, I seem to be missing something.I have my business number and Tax paper in my hand if ebay needs em.Any wise ebayer out there can help me out?

I would recommend establishing yourself a bit more. You don t need to have any tax papers to open an ebay store. But you need to have 20 feedback or be ID verified(i think its $5)http://ebaysellerreview.blogspot.com/

Do you really need an eBay store? The pros:Lower insertion feesThe store sign might give some buyers a sense that you are a good sellerThe cons:Monthly feesHigher Final Value FeesLess visibility (store listings don t show up on search unless less 10 regular items are displayed, so don t expect nearly as many views)So, unless you have an inventory with 100 s of items that don t sell quickly (and even then I am not sure it would be a good idea), I strongly recommend against it. Ebay Stores was an idea that never really worked all that well. Then, they decided to lower insertion fees to $.35 for most regular items and now Ebay Stores is now superflous.
