Help i am in a mess with my financial books for our small business,? -

the problem is that i have not been carrying forward the total of each column. I never realised you had to i only found this out through a new accountant, i have no bookkeeping experience whatsoever i cant believe our current accountant never told us or even contacted us to have a word about bookkeeping i always presumed i was doing it alright. We are using the new accountant next year so iam stuck with carrying the balance through 12 months worth of books and i have to do it because the accounting bill will go down. The problem is i am not sure of what colunms i have to bring forward any advice would be appreciated.

Difficult not knowing what business you have. in the catering trade I had a large account book. At the top of each column I wrote. food, electric, gas, water rates, rent, wages, paye, etc.You put a date on the left and what you have paid under the appropriate column, when you come to the bottom of the page you add it up in pencil - just say Food 300, then transfer that figure to the top of the next page and carry on down to the bottom, and so on. At the end of the year you have the final figure without having to add up every page. Hope this makes sense.

I run a micro business and have no problems with bookkeeping. I keep monthly receipts in an envelope.Using the headings given by Inland Revenue i total all expenses for each heading for that month and record on the outside of the envelope. That is expenses. I also record income for that month, again under different headings if more than one source of income. Keep running totals. At the end of your tax year, deduct expenses from income and that is your profit (or loss)Feel free to come back for more info if required.

Your best bet instead of manually keeping track of information is to purchase a copy of Quickbooks Accounting program. This program is easy to use and easy to set up, it does most of the setup for you, however you would need to plug in your starting balances. You might also want to find an independent bookkeeper that would help set you up for a minimal cost.

You ll be surprised how easy it it to set up your business bookkeeping with QuickBooks, and to add your income and expenses weekly or more often, if necessary. Check your previous tax returns to find out if you owe additional tax because of your errors.

What kind of trade would you suggest for me? -

I am not an academics person, but am interested in a good career that makes some decent money yearly.people have reccomended i learn a trade. I don t even know what jobs have to do with trade I am interested in video games.....i am a 17 year old senior....i don t think trade involves fun and games though...so what trade job would you reccomend for me?

I would recommend the trade of finishing highschool and hoping that the economy get s better. Most of your trade industries aren t doing real good because no-one wants to spend money on the unecesary improvements. Let s take tile setting for instance. Do you really need that new marble or granite floor? Probably not... Can you live without it, or perhaps for now go with some real cheap alternative that will hold up until you feel more comfortable spending the extra money to get that great floor? Probably.Honestly, if you want to get into a trade though... look for a family friend that owns some kind of business that is willing to hire you on to do grunt work... pay attention and pickup everything you can and then see if that is something you can see you self doing... Maybe you know a landscaper or carpenter or roofer... something along those lines... Best of luck to you sir.

A trade is a specialized career usually that is hands on.For example: carpenter, mechanic, electrician, plumber, construction worker and so forth.Don t be too concerned about money or glamor though. Getting into a trade industry can pay off in the long run. Most of those industries pay extremely well after you put some time into and as you become more skilled. It won t happen overnight though. To give you a personal example, my brother is in the trade industry as a heating and air conditioning technician. When he started he didn t make much money but as he became more skilled his hourly rate increased. After 10 years in the industry he now makes over $25.00 per hour.If you are interested in the games industry then take a look into it. There are many opportunities for designers, programmers and such. Talk to your counselor or visit a couple of game company websites to learn more about the industry. When it comes to picking an industry don t feel that you have to choose 1 and stick with it. Try getting a couple of part time jobs or talking to people in the industries to see if you like it. Take you time and think about what you like to do. A job is always easier if you enjoy what you do.

i think it all depends on how innovative u can makeup ur business ...... intrnet usage is mostly seen among teens and college going ppl.... so if their number is reducing, there must be school kids remaining. Propogate some uses of internet and also u can easily make business by attracting them with Video-gaming. Start new Affordable basic courses for idle women, house-wives.....above all these suggestions, U must try to create Opportunities for yourself, Be Innovative. Do more publicity at watever u do...... Or U can relocate to some city/town if u r not satisfied. But werever u move to, Ups and Downs keep coming ur way. So, U must learn to deal wise with them...... :)GOOD LUCK ! (hope this helps u..)

Hi Ashleigh, A License is mandatory for all barbers and hairdressers, and requirements vary by State. Training from vocational schools as well as private academies is usually available. Length of training varies, but most programs are completed in less than one year. During the training period, practical experience in hair cutting, coloring and processing is mastered, as is health and safety procedures and basic business practices. Upon completion of training, candidates are then eligible to take the State Board Exam offered by the state. The exam usually consists of two parts, written and practical; some states require an oral examination. Good Luck with your class and endeavors.

How to undertake a successful Internet business? -

I have completed my MBA program just two months back.I really like to do internet business but i have got very little knowledge about Web designing and hosting. Please help me, how can i really excel in this kind of business?

Well virtual reality means ALMOST as good as reality. So dont make it so confusing. Put it in real world terms and that will get you a long way toward knowing what questions you need to ask.MBA excellent.Internet business = businessWeb Designing = carpentryHosting = real estateSo its as if you are saying that you want to start downtown business but dont know carpentry and real estate. True, it helps to know those. But if you dont then what do you do? You hire someone. It can be anyone from a high school kid to an expert (with pricing to match). Both have little to do with business knowledge. Think of web designing as shop layout. Important yes, but not something that YOU have to know.Something else you might run into:SEO=marketing (search engine optimization). The same basic rules as if it was real world marking apply as far as doing it yourself, buying it, or hiring an expert. Also the same on internet and real world. Dont expect to make money doing nothing. It happens but only about as often as it does in the real world. Basically, put in chore time and make chore money. Put in half time and get a halftime paycheck. Fulltime = fulltime pay. Double time to make the big bucks. Anyone offering anything else is likely ripping you off. As for WHAT to do, Id advise picking a subject you know, or want to know. Something you feel you can sell. Anything that makes your buddies cringe when somene mentions it because you tend to get carried away with the subject works well. Whatever xxxxxx is, post a new question asking how you can build an internet business about xxxxxx.

You can start off using a free website and deciding what you wanna sell. Get the shopping cart etc. Start making the money and take a class on html. Better yet they have site that teach you html and other good stuff like that to create a custom website. When it comes to business ( ad I assume your mba is in business) apply your knowledge to make money. This is not to say your gonna be a millionaire by selling ice water to Eskimos or by convincing the devil its to hot at his place and to buy an a/c. If your that convincing great, use it to your advantage. But that s how I would start.Good Luck.

Am I required to have a business licence in every state that my business opperates in? -

I live in Cheyenne, WY and operate a photography service. Since Colorado and Nebraska are both very nearby, I would expect to also do business in those states. Am I required to have more than just a Wyoming business license?

Yes, if you are crossing the state line to work. No, if they drive to you.
