Pretty hard, if you don t know how. Why not take a sewing class? You can check community colleges, trade schools or even craft stores in your area to find one.

Am I a victim of quot;Payroll Fraudquot;? Should I be treated as an Employee rather than an Independent Contractor? -

Unfortunately I had to quit my job today. I m working as an appraiser s assistant appraising Real Estate in NY. Although appraisers usually own their own businesses, in order for one to become an appraiser you must first apprentice under a certified appraiser for a period of 2 years with an appraiser assistant license. My employer has a firm with 4 people on his staff. We all have set schedules, and he requires us to do work a certain way. He offered to pay me hourly, rather than on a split fee basis. He claims on top of receiving my hourly wage, he will give me a 1099 at the end of the year. I was a little shocked at this since I am not the owner of the company, and have very little to write off as I stay in the office, and use his company car if I need to be on the road. My accountant feels he is being cheap and is trying to avoid payroll tax. I told him I wouldn t mind getting a 1099 if he were to raise my pay an additional 7 or 8% to cover my Social Security and Medicare withholding. He said this would not work, as it wouldn t be fair to his other employees as he is giving all of them 1099 s. As per the IRS website, it indicates that I would be classified as an employee who should receive a W2 based on my job description. Do I have the right to feel victimized? I feel as if he was trying to be a pushover for his own self benefit. I told him it wouldn t work for me, and I didn t find it very ethical based on the job description and his unworthiness to compensate me for the taxes imposed on me. What can I / Should I do?

First of all, let me thank you for doing some research about employees vs. independent contractors beforehand. It s nice to see someone serious about being informed!Since your boss sets your hours and work under his close supervision and control, you are not an independent contractor. Your boss should have been paying you as an employee. You can report him to the IRS. See the link for more information.

You can t offer to let him break the law. What you do is, you get IRS form SS-8 and submit it.The IRS will get his side of the story (but with that apprenticeship deal, he s going to lose).then when you file your tax return, you do so with a form 8919 and only pay the employee share of the fica/mc.Had you stayed, no vacation, no sick time, no insurance and no unemployment.

How much capital (approx.) do i need to open small coffeeshop in toronto? -

what are the rental cost (approx.) and renovation cost (approx.)? im intending to open somewhere in/near shopping malls or business district; thanks for your answers

Toronto is an expensive place...... and you will need enough money to get you through to the point where you will actually be making money - and you still have to pay your staff while you are starting out. So, you need enough to pay the bills and the rent and the salaries for about 6 months, and also enough to support yourself for a similar period - PLUS what you will need to renovate any place you might rent. Count on $ 60,000 - to me that s a realistic figure.

this is something that you will either have to reseach yourself or ask a property dealer or estate agentthe rental costs of a shop will depend on the area where you intend to open while the renovation cost will depend on the type of renovtion you want to get done and materials that will be used for it, it is my guess that it will be anywhere from CAD $ 5,000 to 15,000 - the rest you can check out by getting the estimates of what you want

All I do is sleep because im always so stressed out about how my family is going to make it. Everyday I browse online for an endless amount of time looking for ways to make money online. But there are SO many scams its only been making the stress worse. If anyone knows of any free methods of making money online (under 18) please share! Im desperate.. i would sit online for hours typing until there is no tomorrow if thats what it takes. any possible option please help! Thanks!!

This is really, really sad - I m sorry you have so much stress at your age. *hugs*I m glad that you can spot scams however, as obviously right now you cant afford to be ripped off. (I ve been there.)I m going to suggest a site to look at - it doesn t sell anything at all, ok? I know you will get flooded with scammy, spammy links here but please take a minute to look at the site. (I promise you wont be encouraged to spend any money, unless you decide to get your own website, in which case you would need to pay around $7 for a domain name - although if you do decide to start a website then answernode.com has a list of discount codes to save you money.)http://iearnmorethanyou.com ---- that has some free suggestions you could try; and I ll suggest that you send an email to the webmaster - she s very nice and she might be able to offer you some work of some sort, or some more personal advice. Please remember that things DO get better - if you feel like you can t cope then talk to someone. Chin up, I promise you that it will be OK.

You re welcome, sorry I can t do more - I don t know if you are alerted when there is a comment made or not on here, but if I can help at all I will. Email me if you want - alexispetrov[at]gma!l[dot]com (trying not to get flagged for adding an address, sorry for odd format.)Xx. Report Abuse

Only scammers are making any money online.

a few people do. The way your going to get most out of it without being scammed is to first download a web site making program, then make lots of pages and just talk about things you know about. It could be anything from fishing to farming, cameras to columbia. Make lots of pages that inform, advise and argue. Then put Google s java script ads on it (use pay pal). Then buy a domain name and upload it.lastly advertise for it.you will get very little out of it. chances are you may be paying more than you bring in for a little while. There are no real get rich quick schemes that work.
