If I have an online home- based business in Los Angeles, but most of my customers are...? -

... based elsewhere (New York, Chicago, Miami, etc) does that mean that I need to get a business license in the cities where those customers are based in order to be legit with Uncle Sam?

Your income is sourced to where you did the work. If that s LA, only LA can require a business license.

Can anyone give me information on becoming an independent personal shopper? -

My target market would be grocery shopping for the elderly.

Things I look for in a business are free or low cost to join, free or low cost to run, some level of training and/or support, a website or information on how to create one, and a simple duplicatable business success system. The company and people should support and train you because when you make money they make money. I really like businesses that can be run part time, from home, and online.

Well, the whole trick is how much people know about your shop and need your services. You need to advertise for sure, you cannot make a dime without advertising with fliers on a bulletin boards etc. It depends if you want an e-shopping store or a street store. If you want to be successful, you need a good mentor when you don t have the ideas how to improve your business. You can be a great grocery seller, but you definitely need to know how to manage the things outside the shop. You need to know the tricks that really works. Try the link, maybe it is what you are looking for.I wish you the best luck!BetterLif3

What to do about my boss? -

My boss has no people skills what so ever and is very common in her approach. I find the way she speaks to myself and other staff very rude. Although i know she is my boss, it is complicated as its a family company I work for and all her family are managers or directors. What can I do?

Basically you can t do anything, sorry. Rudeness and your other observations are not criminal offenses. If you don t like it, leave it. You probably should move on to a company with a better boss if you can. My opinion.I never had any problems walking away from a job where the manager or boss was a jerk and/or an idiot.

What can school dropouts do to find a living? -

Mc Donalds. These days you need at LEAST an associates degree to make a somewhat decent paying job or else it s food stamps for you!Join the army- they accept ANYBODY and you will make something of yourself. Heck youcould even make more than a nurse someday.GO ARMY TODAY

As a High School drop out I can tell you, Not one job I have ever had has ever checked. They all say they do but I have passed countless background checks for gov t and non gov t jobs. As long as your a hard worker, you have as much room for advancement as anyone else in any company. Go to school if you can, not for the degree, but for the lesson. But if you can t.. I make more money then most of my peers :)

That is a terrible idea. Students need a college degree to get a job. Otherwise, they are stuck with part time jobs such as Waiters and Flipping Burgers. Their decision to dropout have a significant impact on their lives in a negative way. So, go to school, and do well.

How do I ask for a raise in a small company? -

I have been working for a small company for almost 10 months now. When I was hired on i was told that in the future i would be getting commission for parts sold and a raise and have not gotten either.... How do i go about asking for a raise in a small company with only 4 employees. (Btw i don t get paid hourly i get a percentage of what i bill hourly.)

You make an appointment with your boss. Go over a written list of how you helped the company this past year.Give the list to your boss.State that you should have a raise.Be polite. Don t ask your Boss to decide as you speak with him/her.Thank him/her for the time and leave.

What are the fundamentals in running a successful Auto Repair Shop (beside good mechanics of course)? -

Thinking of starting my own business...

Financing: Having the parts on hand or an ability to obtain them readilyMarketing: Knowing your market, competition. Every business is financed by it s customer s money, so the name of the game is sales, and service.Insurance: Cover yourself from liability. Anytime you handle someone else s property with or without supervision, you put yourself at risk. Post disclaimers: concerning your policies on money back, warranties , or items left in carsSpecialize: People are looking for price/value of course, but they really want an expert. Be Up Front: Say what s so. Trust is your GOLDEN KEY Don t be afraid to turn away business that you do not specialize in. People appreciate honest, humble, and helpful communication. Difficult work can rob you of precious time and the ability to deal with many others in that time.Accounting: If you are a business man, hiring mechanics then you may be the office, but if you are the mechanic, wear that hat. If you plan to have a successful business and be busy working on cars, then you don t have time to deal with the compliance issues of community, state, federal, as well as tax accounting. Legal Insurance: Different from liability insurance. This is coverage to enable you to ask legal questions concerning your business, review documents, collections, and protect you from law suits filed against you. If you are under 10 employees, this can be gotten for under $50 a month. There is more: Suppliers agreements, Environmental Compliance, Employee Compensation laws, Zoning, Secondary Financing (very important to know where to obtain available funding after you have been open a while, should you need it. Hundreds of thousands of businesses open up every year by experts who know that product and service inside-out, yet 90% of these businesses close within a relatively short period of time and 90% of the remainder close within 5 years, due to mismanagement of finances, taxes, and unforseen challenges.Take advantage of free services available to anyone starting a business. S.C.O.R.E. (Senior Citizen Organization of Retired Executives) through the SBA (Small Business Administration)Other organizations such as United Way have work experience programs where they will pay you to train someone to do a job. The legal insurance available through www.RightsOfTheSouth.com also has new business support which includes free advice in growing your business and free websites to market it. There is a lot of help out there. Just make sure you are not investing with predators feeding off of your eagerness to start a great business. It doesn t always take money to make money. It takes IDEAS. I am a firm believer that there is no such thing as quality at a discount...Just discount quality. Just find a need and fill it and take time to examine all advice and get a second opinion.Look for what s guaranteed.

People aren t coming back to you because you are so good so regardless of what it takes to fix a car, always charge the max you can get away with.

How can an 11 year old make money or play a money making simulator? -

I know you need to be 13 to post, I write the question, my parent posts it.I enjoy the idea of making money, even if I don t make any, so a free money making sim would be fin.

Give yourself a set amount of (fake/imaginary) money say 2500Choose online 5 sets of businesses stocks to buy. You can get prices online by searching stock exvhannge, with the total of the stocks equalling the amount you have imagined. Then just keep a portfolio of how your stocks are doing. Then you can buy different stocks or sell stocks depending on how well your doing.Just update it say every week with the starting price you bought it for and the current price it is at then your total stock worth plus any spare money . You can then see how good you would be on the stock market!

You could go round knocking on people s doors asking if they wanted their cars cleaned , or you could get rid of some old stuff you don t want by selling it on ebay on your parents account, or you could ask if you could go to a car boot sale and ask if you can sell some old stuff there.

You could buy and sell on E-bay using your dads account or look on the internet for games ive played a few, burger town tycoon i think, just do a bit of research it will help when you start making some money.

I used to like playing this lemonade stand game. http://www.download-free-games.com/simulation/lemonade_tycoon.htm I guess you could check it out. :)

I have no idea where to go for my work experience. Any ideas? -

I am in year 10, and I was wondering where I should go for my work experience. I hate maths and science, so a week filled with them would be so awful. I like drama, singing, food technology (or home economics), and english. I have no idea where to go.

Right considering what you like doing - work around that so take drama the thing to do is ask around so ask at a theatre if you can go backstage and help or maybe help set it all up something like that? Maybe you could go to a radio station and help.. be a runner for a tv show, food you could ask to work in a restaurant, anything you like try and think of something from that.. do you like animals? ask at a safari park or vets im sure they would let you! xx

think of what you want to do when you are older. it may help. then you can get an idea of what sort of job you may be challenged with when you are at the age to get a job.

i think you should try working in a court, a court of law.you will love it. or maybe at a theater, or art gallery.

It depends where you are. If you include that, I might be able to help, because I have to sort out mine too :P
