How do i start creating my new product? -

i have a great idea for a new invention that is not out in the market. the question is where and how do i start. where can i get a patent, the material to start designing and what not.

I m in the same boat as you and I have ONE SUPER BIG bit of advice that I am told OVER AND OVER again...DO NOT use one of those Patent Companies that advertises on TV or the Internet. They are ALL big, fat scams. Getting a patent is hard work and costs a lot of money so don t waste a dime having a company that says they will Solve all your problems steal it from you... You will need it for the legit process.Patent:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PatentDirectory of Intellectual Property Offices, maintained by World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)http://www.wipo.int/directory/en/urls.jsUseful links, Your guide to intellectual property information and services on the internet. , maintained by the European Patent Officehttp://www.epo.org/topics/ip-webguide.htList of patent related topicshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_pat Patents: Frequently Asked Questions, World Intellectual Property Organization,http://www.wipo.int/patentscope/en/paten

My warehouse staff currently operates on 6 units PC for items data entry. All PCs are 10 yrs old. Problems we? -

encountered are mostly a.Sudden blackout ( stop ) b.Hanged c. Figures inaccuracies d.Unprintable. Is changing a new PC is the ONLY answer ?

All PCs are 10 yrs old They are 5 years past their expiration date. Of course you re having problems. As programs are updated and improved, they require more advanced technology. You can, however, restructure your network by investing in a server system and using Citrix, a terminal services based system. With Citrix, the user logs into the server from the local terminal and runs the programs from the server, not the local machine. Since the local machine is only used for video display keyboard/mouse input, you can use older. slower machines. And upgrading the programs is easier (and less time consuming) because you only do it on the server. This link will help you find a qualified company in your area about Citrix.http://www.citrix.com/partners/locator

Do you need small business insurance? -

I have started a very small company with the 3 owners that is just simply computer repair. I have not even looked into insurance. Is it really needed for such a small operation? Thanks!

The question is... can you afford the risk if you don t buy it? (i.e. self-insured). Let s say you try to fix a computer but something went wrong and you fried the computer. The owner sues you for damages. Can you afford to pay? Or let s say you hired someone who decided to break customer s password to access the customer s stash of celebrity naked photos (hey, it has happened). Celebrity sues the employee, AND your company, AND all the officers/partners in the company. Can you afford to pay the damages or even just the court costs? And ask yourself realisticly: can you define and risk and, secondly, can you AFFORD the risk?

If they re salaried employees, you need to get workers comp insurance. Business insurance is an important item- it s there to protect you against things that as a small business, you can t afford to pay out.

Is my business allowed to use the same name as a nationally known business in a different industry? -

Say I want to name my business Jupiter Computer Repair but there s already a national brand of shampoo called Jupiter. Is it legal for me to use the name Jupiter since we re in completely different industries?

Yes. And I doubt the name Jupiter is (and I doubt can be) trademarked. And no one would confuse your business with a shampoo company. If they do, well, they are just stoooopid.

Starting a sole proprietorship with a partner/supplier in Peru, how do i share profits and avoid tax problems? -

Hi all,I m starting a business and i have a business partner (very trustworthy) in Peru. We re going to be in retail essentially importing quality handmade clothing and misc from Peru to the US. Establishing this as a sole proprietorship, i have to declare the profits as personal income . The problem is i have to share the profits 50/50 with my partner. How do i declare that 50% that goes to my partner in my taxes....wont the IRS audit that? What efficient way is there to share the profits, declare my taxes and have everything be legit? One more thing, Since my partner is my supplier, he will send the goods here to the US. Do i have to pay any tariffs on Importing those goods?Any help will greatly be appreciated.

Might be a little dicey if you go to deduct the profits you are sending to Peru as a business expense. Not sure that is going to fly.I think you will need to either form an official partnership, so the partnership return can show the distribution of profits, or another form of business (LLC, S corp, C corp) that gets different tax treatment than a sole proprietor. All three of these can deplete cash at the end of the tax year so the LLC/Corp is not taxed, and you are only taxed on your half at your personal rates.

Try:http://www.esources.co.uk/You will find all the verified wholesalers you need there.

Try this one, I have sourced things from there.http://www.alibaba.com/You can search or ask if anyone does the product you want, but they may want to sell you more than you want though. I have told them how many I have required and most of the companies will do it to get your business. Good luck

Hi try looking through yell.com online and see who is listed in there it is a good place to start takes a little bit of time phoning round but maybe worth it

Do you have to pay the business if what they give you is bad quality? -

say your business hires a sign maker to make something for your main store. you plan with them and tell them what you want and he shows you a drawing of what the final product is and you approve.then when it s done and you see the final product, it s vaguely similar to the plan but the quality and layout/design is bad.do you have to pay them?(your business won t use the product because it isn t good enough, either)

No. Although a contract is in place (even if it s just verbal) there is an implied level of quality that needs to be met. If they fail to reach this standard then legally you do not have to pay. However, they may seek to force you to pay through the courts, in which case it will be tested as to whether your refusal to pay was genuine or not. If the court finds that you have not been genuine then you can expect to be stung for the cost of the work, as well as legal fees and maybe even punitive damages. But provided you ve got right on your side, then you ll be fine.
