Avon Vs. Mary Kay. Which is better to sell? -

I m thinking about selling Avon or Mary Kay, but not sure which one to do. I ve used both products and like them both. If you sell any of them let me know your opinion, The pros and cons, start up cost stuff like that.

Please think before you join either. Both Avon and Mary Kay are Multi-level marketing companies (MLMs). Statistics show that 99% of women lose money in all MLMs. I used to sell Mary Kay myself and I have a mother in law who tries to sell Avon. I guess the worst of the two evils is Mary Kay. I say that because for the following reasons:1. A Mary Kay Lady will tell you that you only need $100 for a starter kit. This is true, however in the days following signing your agreement you will be strongly encouraged, manipulated, guilt tripped in any way possible to buy a large inventory package. This is where women get themselves in trouble, and wind up putting thousands on a credit card. You don t have to buy the inventory but the shipping cost for lots of small shipment will severely cut into your profit. Beware--recruiters will do whatever it takes to get you to buy that package. They make a commission! 2. It takes a lot of time to make any money. Don t expect to get rich. It sounds great because you make 50% of whatever you sell right? Say you sold a $100 order to a customer at a home party. You would get $50. That means in order to make $20,000 a year you would have to find 400 people to buy $100 of product. From personal experience this is very difficult. Most people aren t willing to buy $100, and you begin to run out of people to sell to. The way Mary Kay would recommend getting over this is talking to strangers in grocery stores, malls, and anywhere you go. The market is saturated with people desperately trying to sell these products. Besides...20,000 is hardly enough to quit your job over.3. Since Mary Kay does its business through parties. You would have to go to hundreds of woman s home in a year! Mary Kay promises you will get to spend more time with your family and spend time at home. This does not happen because you will be at people s homes, Mary Kay meetings every week, or prowling the mall looking for people to sell to/recruit.4. You only can make a good amount of money by convincing others to sell Mary Kay too. Actually you can only make money if they buy inventory so you can make commission. This means you have to convince all your friends, family and coworkers to sign up and put thousands on their credit cards for inventory they probably won t sell very much of. I m sure a lot of people will disagree with what I ve just said. Some pf them will claim their life is fantastic because of the Mary Kay way. But if you need more proof go to http://www.pinktruth.com/ There you will find lots of women burned by the Mary Kay industry. These women include professionals, and people who worked hard at selling but still got the short end of the stick. As for Avon, I can t say from personal experience what it is like. They don t make you buy inventory, or guilt trip like Mary Kay does. I know that you probably wont make a ton of money.Best of luck!!!Edit:: People may offer you more information in their answers. It may be a way to get you to sign up under them in order to make a commission. Just be careful! =)

I wouldn t do either one because both have way too many reps to compete against for business. I would look around for a company that is newer, has fewer reps and is more up to date with the current trends. I would look for products that are made from natural ingredients, green (made from renewable resources like plant based oils instead of petroleum-based) doesn t do animal testing of products, etc.I d also take a look at all of the fine print and look at the costs, compensation plan (profit margin) and sales or purchase quotas to keep active status or to be able to earn the maximum profit margin.Good luck!

Hello, I sell Avon and my neighbor sells Mary Kay. Avon costs $10 to start which includes everythig you need to get your business started.Mary Kay is way more expensive to start. Avon products are also more affordable for customers. If this has helped you at all and you are interested in starting Avon. Contact me at sherine4avon@gmail.com and I can get you signed up with a rep in your area who will be your mentor throughout your avon career. Good luck in whatever you chose.

I think Avon is better because of the economy Avon s prices seem to most reasonable at this time.It s also only $20 to join online and Avon mails the kit directly to your house.Customers aren t spending as much as they used to but they also seem to have the money to purchase Avon products which aren t expensive at all.Personally for me it definitely has been worth while. I was laid off a month ago and this is my only source of income. I have been able to bring home about $300 every 2 weeks is just a start since I am now full time looking to increase that income. If you are interested in signing yourself up online just visit http://www.start.youravon.com and use reference code lynettebledsoeIf you have any more questions please feel free to email me directly

I have not been with either company, but am in direct sales. As far as companies go I like Mary Kay better. Mainly just because I like the founder and her story.Avon has a wider variety of products.

You can only obtain legitimate work from home positions from brick and mortar companies. You want to send your resume out to companies hiring for positions you are qualified for, but include in your resume that you have a home office and you wish to work remotely. Include how you have your home office set up and what equipment you already have in order for you to perform your job. These jobs are just going to advertised as jobs, they would not promote them as work at home because they would hear from too many unqualified people.

How much does a cleaning business make on average cleaning for a Factory? -

If I were to start a cleaning business, and I were to have a crew cleaning a factory of some sort, how much should I ask for in the contract between the Factory and I? We all have expierence cleaning.

I was working in cleaning 2 months ago into bakery was medium size but I heard the contrat was about $10,000 monthly who my boss keep it(sub-contrator) and we were working 2 persons in the month we together we did about $1,200 because we worked on night 4 hours every day.

Unable to answer due to total lack of details. What you would do is to make an est of the number of hours it will take to clean the factory. Then multiply the number of hours by your billing rate, and that is the est for your cleaning fee.

Can you really make money selling wholesale merchandise on ebay? -

I saw the story on CNN of a doctor who made $120k in a year selling wholesale clothing on ebay. I want to make some extra money to pay off the student loans and save for a house. Please respond with your personal experience.

Well you don`t need any websites to tell you how to do it, the whole secret is to buy stuff cheap (and I mean CHEAP very cheap) stuff that people want. That`s the ONLY way because the #1 reason people go to ebay is to find bargains. For example if you sell a pair of pants for $100 bucks forget it, nobody is going to buy, but if you can sell them for $10- $20 and you have a lot of them to sell then you can make money. But basically you have to steal those pants which is what a lot of people do. A lot of that stuff on ebay is stolen merchandise. For example you`ll find a brand new Xbox 360 for $80 bucks when they go for $250- $300.

Well, it is good if you can find a lucrative unknown niche that has a lot of buyers and very few sellers. The good thing about Ebay is that you can start out small to just test if you will do well. I have made money in some categories, but have failed with Nintendo Wiis because the competition from the sellers is too much. There are different ways to get wholesale products. You can go to garage sales, clean out your own unwanted products, or sell new wholesale products. See http://www.iwanttosellstuff.com for a list of good wholesale sources.

a well , i haven t heard about that doctor but it s possible to make even more than that ,however a person can sell $300.000 a year but the profit is not more than $40.000 for example,it s all about what you are selling after cost + ebay fees + ebay fees + ebay fees + paypal fees ...+ any program you may be using.(i am speaking base on my experience, my sales can be $20.000 to $25.000 a month , but my profit is about $3000,but also there are seller that makes a lot lot lot more than that ,so it s really up to your deals and prices.the cheap you sell the big you compete. the only thing you need is to find is whatever and i really men whatever anything from toys to cars.just get it cheaper ,find bulk deals ,liquidationsif you are really looking for a real profitso that s the secret of ebay ,no one can tell you how to make money ,and no one will show you where they get their cheap stuff . so it takes time and time looking in the web mostly, find wholesalers and suppliers and good luck

yep ebay is really a nice place for anyboby who wants to make money.but you have to have the method.there is a principle, you get something with CHEAP prices.and sell it with a afforable price.so you need to find the resource, and then you must make people believe in your goods .it will take a period of time, but if you have patient and perseverance .i think you will make it :Dbtw, let me offer you a wholesale website.http://www,ebsilk.com hope it helped good luck !

In the continental US does location have any impact on a mail order/internet based retail business? -

Tax benefits aside does location matter?

sometimes. your actual shipping costs can be reduced if you ship from a location close to most of your sellers. if you charge a flat rate for shipping, your profit is increased.

Help with Special Effects? -

I ve been doing some special effects work like masks and stuff for some local people around my town and i had someone come up to me and asked me to make teme a mermaid tail like the ones on H2O Just Add Water i have a general idea of the design but i dont know what to make it with it also has to be swimmable if some one could help me that would be great :)

If it needs to be swimmable, then you probably want to use neoprene, the material used in wetsuits. A couple of scuba fins trimmed and fastened together would work well for the end of the tail, and provide a comfortable place for the feet.If you re on a budget, you can find used wetsuits and fins very cheaply on eBay. You could cut the inside seam on the two wetsuit legs and sew them together. The seam will need to be very strong, though, getting into a wetsuit is not easy, even one leg at a time. Better get the biggest wetsuit you can.

That would be a major project and you probably don t want to deal with the safety issues here either.Imagine someone swimming with both their legs bound up in a cloth mermaid tail and they drown because they can t keep afloat. You would be sued for sure.

hi, i am more into visual effects. however a friend of mine is into you kind of animation, and perhaps if you mail her she might be able to help you... her mail id is colouredge@gmail.com her name is sapna.

How long should I allow a customer to pay me? -

I have a customer who owes me a total of 1495.00. They have invoices outstanding since May, June and July. They told me that they would pay me early September, but not had any payment yet. I have emailed them with friendly reminders for the last 3 weeks and they have not replied to any of my email asking if they are making payment. Should I take legal action to recover the money? I can get a free debt recovery letter sent out as part of my business account with Barclays. They are not a large customer - but are a local company that I have done business with for quite a few years as the business was set up by two of my old school teachers - so I know them personally. They were taken over last year and they have always been late paying since they were taken over. I know that if I send them a debt recovery letter that I probably won t get any more work from them. I need the money from them as I owe it to the Inland Revenue - who are chasing me for the money (I owe them 1500 - which the outstanding amount will clear off), saying they will take legal proceedings if I do not pay them within 7 days. The only way I can pay the Inland Revenue is if I am paid my outstanding invoices.

Let s put it this way, a customer who doesn t pay his bills is not a customer worth keeping. If the Inland Revenue take action, you won t have a business for this customer to come back to anyway.Get tough about this. Companies with limited cash flow only pay up when they are forced to or when it s easier to pay and shut you up than keep making excuses. In all probability they are counting on the fact that because you know them personally, you won t push too hard for payment.Rule of Business no 5: He who shouts loudest gets his bills paid fastest. If you are shy about asking for money that is legally owed to you, you need to consider whether you should be self employed.

There s little chance you ll get paid in 7 days, but maybe you could go down there and insist on a check. If they refuse, sue them.

Are those work-at-home jobs really legit? -

I need some extra income and it seems everywhere I turn there are those ads promising to pay you thousands of dollars are those real jobs or just scams? has anyone tried it yet?Real answers please.

Hi, Sweetie. Some of them actually are legit.Do your homework. How long has the company been in operation? How many locations does the company serve? Are they listed on the BBB? Are they listed on the Stock Exchange? Is the company recognized by Forbes or other recognized professional magazines or companies that are well known? If the answer to any of these questions is no, then it probably is a scam. Do your due diligence because there are actually more legit home based businesses than many people realize.I ve tried a few that were real but I never made much money. There is one I m involved with now that pays me real money. The website is below.I wish you all the best in your search,mrsdianwww.princegroup.webs.comLifeMadeRich@mail.com

There are many work at home jobs out there that are legitimate. I have been in your shoes. When you google legitimate jobs or even work at home jobs, you see all these ads that are too good to be true. You just simply have to know where to look. And just because a lot of these people tell you that they are scams, they maybe not be a scam. Because half of these people probably have never even bother to find out for themselves. I mean there are many that are legit. Simply do your research. For any company that you want to work with, you want to find out how long they have been in the business. Do they have a good reputation, i mean you can t satisfy everyone but yet do have have plenty of good reviews, like hundreds and thousands of review. Do they have product or service that will last for a long time, you don t want to get involve with something then few months later they vanish in the thin air. Good luck in your journey, hope you find that legitimate work at home jobs you are looking for. I am simply involve with one. Come by and find out if its for you. I was skeptical just like everyone else out there when it comes down finding something legitimate. What more can you ask for, working for a company that has been around for 10 yrs and they are in the Inc. Magazine. How legitimate can they be. That is HUGE!!!

The only work at home job that s been legit for me and many others has been surveys. While it s not necessarily a job , it s something you can do until you find real work and it s been very, very helpful. You can easily make enough to make your car payments and pay other monthly bills. You won t get rich, but it s still a nice chunk of change. Here s where to start, so you can get right to where you need to go... http://www.free-survey-list.com

How good can they be if they have to advertise so much to suck people in? Real jobs get filled before you ever hear about them.

scams all scams. as you can see from your first answer lol

All SCAMS!

all scams sweetie, you will soon see by the answers you get

Grand Opening Giveaway Contest Question? -

In a few weeks I will open a new business and thinking about doing a special Grand Opening promotion like giveaway a few door prizes. My question is will I break any laws (North Carolina) if I make customers do a minimum purchase in order to enter this contest. Due to the nature of my business, it s does make make a huge different to one customer who spend says $50 and get the same chance as a non-purchased customer. So I was wondering may be if I advertised that a minimum purchase had to be $5 and the customer who purchased $50 worth of good would get 10 entries and have more chances.

Not legal. That woudl be a lottery, not a giveaway/contest. Lotteries are considered gambling. Look at other contests/giveaways - all say no purchase necessary Check the NC website for specific information on information on gaming (gambling) laws.

Can I make a decent living as a Mary K consultant? -

it depends if your really good.. my mom did mary kay and it didnt support our family very wel... the moral of the story is... if you do marykay you should also have a thing on the side...

We know nothing about you.My wife tried it and it just turned into a hobby with a little extra income. To make it as a full time job you end up putting in MORE hours than working the normal 9 to 5.In this economy I know MANY Mary K reps that were pretty high up the ladder that have quit. Buying make-up is not a priority in a bad economy. If you get into it and try it, then you can decide if it can turn into a real job or not.

you would have to have MANY 100 s of active customers - it will take quite a while to get that many and if there are any other MK consultants in your area who have been doing that for awhile, your chances of building a big client base are very smallHow often do women buy cosmetics?how long do they last?what is the avg profit margin % selling MK cosmetics?

Before you start your MK business, you gotta know how to market online and especially your target market.Your primary target market will be... Other MK salespeople!! So you ll NEVER run out of prospects. The SYSTEM will make you the money, MK will be just an additional income stream. So get your system, promote it with far less financial risks. You can get a free video report here, worth $197, view it before starting MK!http://www.mlmdonetherightway.com

Same as Avon. Give it a try. All these tings are about intuitive and drive. Its different for everyone, and there are no guarantees. Try it out part time and see how it goes.

Some people do make a very good living as Mary K consults. It does, however, take a lot of hard work and some very long hours.

You can if your a good sales person, know a lot of people and aren t shy.

I don t think so, economy is tough, not alot of $ for extras out there

that depends entirely on how hard you re willing to work at it!
