Why dose ebay charge you fees when its not their stuff your selling? -

Because you are still using the service.

As a website that shows your advert to millions they do have a right to charge, even if it is a little high, the fact is you just won t get the same coverage anywhere else. The naughty bit is that you not only get charged 10%(private sellers) on selling but another 3.9% and 20p one off charge per transaction by pay pal which is, cough cough, owned by Ebay, that means when selling something against such tight competition you really have got to get your calculator out!!

It s called capitalism .. you are not forced to use their service (unlike the BBC = communism) and thus you do not have to pay their fees.If you don t like the eBay/PayPal system (and lots of people don t) choose a different auction site....Fact is, even after fees, chances are you will make more on eBay that the other sites ... why ? because eBay has the biggest collection of ignorant buyers (willing to pay well over high street prices) on the planet ..

Yeah, they re taking the piss - Charging Fees to list , taking a percentage off the final value and having a paypal cut too. Daylight robbery. And they won t even let you charge for P P on some items. They don t want anyone to make any money except for themselves.

Ebay is like a jumbo classified section in your newspaper. They provide the place for you to advertize to millions of potential customers. Newspaper and magazine classified ads are not free either even though it is YOUR stuff that you are selling.Beverly

i sold summat for 28.00 they took like 2.80. eveyrtime u sell something they take 10 percentu sell something for 4.00 they take 40pu sell something for 2.40 they take 24p

Because it s a business and trying to make a profit. A real life auction house charges commission as well.

The same reason shops pay rent for the premises they use!
