Where can i get a grant for a small business? -

i want to start a clothing store in a small town but i don t know where to look or even start... i know this building that would be really good but i just have to fix it up and get the stuff... i want to do it online... can any one help me

all online sites which promise you a grant .. is a scam ..... The grants are only for big companies or mainly for who could improve and has already Research department to improve.. No Grants .. You have to look for other ways to do your business and start it.. this is the real truth.. Naked Truth.. you could just try to start saving.. plus try to convince some one who has money and who can trust you and the idea.. to either lend you the money or go for share in your business..Sorry to say that .. just trying not to waste your time.. Look for a place where it need little fixation and the other stuff.. Good luck and have a great day ..

Be careful with online scams. If they ask for money up front for educational money for grants - run and run away fast.Grants only exist for certain busineeses that are desperately needed in certain areas.Ex: A daycare in the projects. Grants are also given to teachers that work in crime riddent areas.Unless you are running a goodwill or a non-profit thrift store you will not get a grant. As I said, scams are rampid, be careful./

Starting a business at age 15? -

I have the opportunity to start a business free of rent at age 15. It would be a ceramics painting party place, and I would be lent the money to start up. Do you think this would be too difficult at my age? What sort of tips would you have for someone who was starting their own business?

Wow! When you have your parents backing you at your age, you must be a very special person. They must see your ability and feel you are ready to start learning all aspects of running a business. What a great opportunity. As for tips: understand every aspect of your business including setting up a financial plan, how to give the best customer service and always look for new ways to expand and market your business. Decide where you want to be with the business in 1 year, 3 years and 5 years. A true entrepreneur has vision not just skill. Also, contact your local Small Business Administration (SBA). They have all types of workshops and information to help better your business.Good luck! I can t think of a better gift than the one your family is giving you.

You are able to become a confident sole-trader if you are able to take risks and if you are good at working independently, if you have a good feeling about starting the business up then go for it but you have to be aware that you are entitled to unlimited liability (meaning that if the business can t pay for itself, then you can have your personal possessions taken off of you) If you have the determination, belief and motivation, anything is possible! Good Luck!

while I started several biz before i was of legal age, they were watched over like a hawk byparents --with my blessing. This was ages before the iinternet.YOU cannot borrow money legally from anyone......and you may not make any agreementsor contracts with anyone for 3 more years.for now, stick to car washing, animal caring, errand running.

Will business do great for retailers this quot;Holiday Seasonquot;? -

Probably not as great as they hope to. That being said, there is a pent up need out there. That was proven with the Cash for Clunkers bail out plan.Once the right incentive was offered the crowds flocked to the showrooms. So if the offers are good enough the masses will respond.

How can I make quick money? -

I need to make some quick cash to attend a bartending school 650$. I should make that money back within a week of working. But I am jobless and need to at least pay for the school, what should I do??

Get a job, vagrant.

There is only one thing to do---get a job doing anything at all, save $650 and then pay for your study. How much you ll earn as a bartender or how quickly you ll be good for the money has nothing to do with getting the tuition money together. If the course of study is important to you, you know what you have to do.

Things I look for in a business are free or low cost to join, free or low cost to run, some level of training and/or support, a website or information on how to create one, and a simple duplicatable business success system. The company and people should support and train you because when you make money they make money. I really like businesses that can be run part time, from home, and online.

Our salon has a credit card machine. Owner wants to charge us $1 per client + 5% of our tips. Is this normal? -

We have a credit card machine at our grooming salon. We work on straight commission and tips. There is no hourly wage. We earn a percentage of each dog that we groom. There is a tip line available on the credit card slip if clients feel that they want to leave a gratuity. Most of our customers do leave tips. The salon owner says that the machine and the tip line is costing her hundreds a month so she wants to have us give her $1 per client plus 5% of our tips. Is this normal at other pet grooming or human grooming salons? I know you can t give me an exact amount because it varies on the type of business, volume etc., but generally how much does the tip line cost and what is the average cost for a credit card machine per month?

Yeah, 5% is way too high - though it depends on the credit card that you re using -- I believe traditionally Amex takes the biggest percentage of each sale. There s also a rule, it was a MasterCard rule that you weren t allowed to charge customers more if they were charging. Now this doesn t apply here since you re not a customer, but the intent there is that they didn t want the use of a credit card to be perceived as a disadvantage compared to cash. In your boss s own way, that s what he s doing with you. I don t think it s specifically against their rules, but it goes against the intent. And as another poster suggested, it s not your fault people want to charge. It s your boss s decision to have the machine and he s done so because it s a sales advantage (or rather not having one would be a disadvantage). The $1 per client is bogus. Most POS vendors charge very little per month - if it s hundreds, they should find a different one. It s the percentage that s the big part, and if it s 5% it would only be because he has a bad credit rating or is considered a risk.

No, it is not really normal and is illegal in some states. Tell the owner that you are willing to renegotiate your contract but that what she is asking for is not reasonable. The credit card companies charge between 2-5% of the total transaction. A $1 fee per client transaction may be way more than that 2-5%. Sound to me like she is trying to get more revenue from you.

Credit card companies charge the owner of the service a fee for every transaction. On the plus side you may potentially get more business because a lot of people carry cards instead of cash. On the down side you have to pay all of the fees associated with accepting credit cards.

5% is too high. Maybe around 3%. I think merchants pay Visa and mastercard about 3% for the transaction.is she shuts down the line her customers will go away. that would be foolish way to save money. If you have any say in it tell her you will not tolerate it.

It kind of sucks for you, but also your boss needs to do whatever she needs to make sure her business is profitable. That said, you should confirm her exact expenses so you are not paying more than she pays. This shouold reimburse her, not be profitable for her.Her credit card fees can be set up various ways. Many charge a small fee per transaction ( a few cents) plus a small percentage. I usually see around 3% but it varies. Sometimes there is a flat monthly fee as well.My suggestion is to agree to split the percentage for the services and to agree to pay the percentage on the tips, BUT you should confirm with her what her fees actually are per transaction.

Should a Entrepreneur have a outside specialist set up a Accounting system for their Start-up? -

or should they do it themselves? Please help me explain

You can do it yourself with Quickbooks and Peachtree if you are pretty organized and you have a pretty good understanding of accounting. However, if it s not something you feel comfortable with, it s probably be in your best interest to hire someone on the outside to do it for you.

Not necessary until you have revenues. You ll have time for reporting purposes, especially if you don t pursue incorporating until well after your initial day of business opening.People start business all the time and get hung up on this subject, so it s good that you bring it up. In the beginning of your period of enterprise, you ll have countless concerns. Suppliers, inventory of supplies, equipment for packaging, maybe manufacturing, securing patent protection, continuing research and development work, hiring, organizing the work area, securing funding for the start-up period...all this can be organized later. What you must do, on the other hand, is be absolutely certain you keep fastidious records of all monies spent for various purposes. You should have little trouble coming up with reasonable names for purposes of your own understanding of how your business operates as it morphs into a larger, more nimble operation. An example of this is something I developed for myself in businesses I launched. Instead of the usual ledger and business terminology, I referred to all money I put in as seed,: a reference to seed capital. Eventually I abbreviated it to S: and never had difficulty in recognizing what I was talking about. Accountants later came along and inserted more professional terms. It was more for them than for me.Many business how-to s are out there at nominal cost that offer ways to set up your books. I never went that route, preferring to build things up to something deserving of organizing and associated accounting expenses first. When I began to generate income, I went to a CPA with one thing in mind: Make my business visible and acceptable to the IRS so I could report as required without fear. Many will probably disagree with me but I ve done it this way all my life, never ran into difficulty. I never cheated so I didn t worry about getting hurt by regulators. My books were mine and they reflected exactly what was going on. My main concern was that I was able to see the organic goings-on of my creation without difficulty.People new to business often forget they are the most important ingredient in their operations. How they relate to what they re doing is all that matters. How others approve or otherwise? It s best left for those others to worry about while you get out there to do what you want to do.Have at it and leave the worries to the worry warts.Len

How do you explain professional attitudes and behaviour at a workplace? -

I will look into this.

are you asking what they are? or if one already knows them, how to communicate that? ???

Does an employee have to report you working for them? -

I work for someone answering the phone, basically i sit there in case someone comes in while he is gone doing a job. I am paid cash but was wondering if there is away around this. He is concerned that he can get in trouble and I need the money......Someone said he had to pay out a certain amount before having to report it......Any input??

In the US the limit is $600 or so.A payroll service will process payroll for really small companies and avoid all the fuss and possible fines he/you may be looking at.
