You need to send your resume out to real jobs you are qualified to do. In your cover letter you need to state that you wish to work remotely, from your home office. LOTS of companies, especially in CA operate this way. They will want at least 100% markup (so if retail is $10 they get it for $5 - remember they often have to sell at a discount or on sale) so you need to calculate the prices you need to make this worthwhile. I wouldn t advise this unless you had previous experience or could hire a professional who knows how to sell wholesale.The second way is to buy in USA from a wholesaler and set up a nice retail shop. This is very expensive.The third way is to buy bulk wholesale and go door to door to merchants trying to sell your items - maybe put them in shops on consignment. Why do employers always get penalised in every way? -

I have an employee at the moment who has been very rude in how she addresses me on two occassions. For me to discipline her I have to write to her first to advise of a meeting that might lead to disciplinary action and she has to be given sufficient time to prepare for the meeting and she can bring a colleague with her. Then I have to have the meeting then advise her I will write to her to advise her of the outcome of the meeting then I have to hold another meeting with her to advise her of the outcome. If I m buying parts, and they are doing brakes/rotors, front and rear...how much should I pay them?

I agree with the other poster but you better make sure they know what they are doing, I wouln t have anyone touching my brakes myself, not even so called licensed mechanics, they are all cowboys.Also, you might not need to have rotors replaced but fluid might need replacing and bleeding, wheel bearings checked and general visual inspection won t hurt.I think $150 is plenty but you forgot to say what car it is, it might make a difference. Also when in there it s worth giving it a good clean, so that would reflect on price.But cowboys never clean anyways.

In a shop they get about $100.00 per axel (wheel) and I have never heard of them going to someones home,if they are what we call shade tree mechanics then $100.00 and no more then $150.00 should do.The reason is it should take no more then a hour and a half to do this.If they have a jack that can lift the whole front or back it can be done in less then an hour.I would caution you we are talking about the brakes,you know the things that STOP the car so make sure that the people or person who is going to do this has some experience.I would ask him how many brake jobs have you done.Why are you buying new rotors? If this is the first time for a brake job the rotors can be ground by any auto parts store.If the person who is going to do this told you to buy new rotors ask him why,because already I am having doubts about his skill level.I really wish you well Remember this if he is not a license mechanic and something goes wrong it will be on you.Brakes should not be left up to amatures.

In addition to the other suggestions listed here you could also volunteer in a church s nursery during service or in a hospital nursery that has a rocking baby program. This will give you more experience as well as contact with the parents and professionals so you can establish a repoire and be able to use them as references with their permission. One of my shift managers is a complete asshole. He is rude, yells at everyone for nothing, and takes his anger out on his employees. He is one of those guys who thinks because he is a manager, he is earning the big bucks and is the big shot, but in reality he is earning next to nothing and gets chewed out by the district manager on a regular basis.In a few years, when I graduate from college, I will leave this job, but I still have to deal with this guy until then. Multi Million Dollar Business...where to hide the file that says how we manage our business step by step? -

My father is in his 50 s, and has worked within his own self built company his whole life. I need some good honest advice.? -

I am a photographer and I offer my clients a disc of images with copyright authorization to print images rather than offering prints. Now, when I do a portrait session I take many, many images to avoid blinking/odd expressions/photo error/people not looking at the camera/etc... from the images I take I select only the best images from the session and those are the only ones I give to the customer. I do all the editing/cropping/retouching/special effects to the images the customer receives and I try to give the most varitey of the images taken from the session to the customer. For example for a 1-hour session for say 3 people I take between 100-180 photos and the customer recieves anywhere from 15-50 images on the disc. Anyways the advice I need is to the following issue...Customers are ALWAYS coming back to me and saying I know you took many more photos than what was on the disc, Where are they, I want to see them! Well its very frustrating becuase I do not know what I should say/do about it. I do not want to give a customer images that are not up to my level of quality becuase I do not want to make a bad name for myself or my work. I do not want to give a customer images of test shots or un-focused/blurred images or any other images with technically problems. I would not want to give a customer a disc with a whole bunch of identically images and so on... But I also don t want to make a bad name for myself becuase people get upset that I don t give them what they want... To tell you the truth some people are very persistant and do not give up. What should I do and how should I handle this. Sometimes I tell the customers this before the shoot but that doesn t make a difference. I should also mention that I am not charging people top dollar for portraits, in fact I charge $25 for the session which includes the disc and image rights. So its even more frustrating when I have spent 2-3 hours from shoot to finish and the customer want more more more... Don t get me wrong I am excellent at what I do and I am a professional photographer so I hope you don t think I am offering crappy images cause I only charge $25. So please help me. I appreciate all advice from the consumer end and business end.Thanks!!

I undertand what you are saying, everyone wants to take pride in their work. Maybe you can consider this.What you consider top quality probably is because your the professional. However, customers love to have a choice as to what they want.You may want to consider selling them two discs. One is the photos you choose, the other is the rest of them. Charge them for the other disc, customers will pay for the choice. You may find by using the give them a choice approach you gain better relations with your customers which only helps your business.Label the disc you choose Photograhers suggested photos .Hope this helps you to come up with a plan.

What type of business cards to use - coated or not coated? -

I am starting a wedding planning business and working on my business cards. Are there any thoughts on using glossy coated or uncoated business cards? I have a friend who used coated and I can t use pencil to write on it but I can use pen (in case the clients need to write something or I do). Thanks for your input!

You can get UV coating on one or two sides. I think UV coating is very elegant, however you typically cannot write on them. However, if you need to write on them, perhaps you can have them UV coated on one side, and the back side can be still glossy, but uncoated so you can write on them.I ve used Reduced Printing (www.reducedprinting.com), and they print on thick glossy paper. Last time I ve used them I used coupon code google25 and saved $25 but I m not sure if it still works. They have good quality, I do recommend them.

I agree with the some of the other comments. You want to go with the trends of the industry you are in but also not be too hesitant to stand out. You could go with having one side glossy and the other plain so that you can use the other side. Both sides don t have to be covered in gloss so that you can write on the back (though some consider it bad etiquette to write on business cards). Just check with the printing company you will use. One other option is to use Spot UV (UV is another term for gloss in the industry). You choose places or spots on the card for the gloss to be on, like over text or a picture, so that the rest of the card is plain. That way you can use the rest of the card.

I dont like the glossy so mine are just made from paper stock. Follow your industry though. What do most of your competitors use? Don t skimp on the qualtiy though. They are a tax write off and usually very inexpensive overall. Check out VistaPrint.Com for decent quality and affordable cards and marketing materials.

Only use coated cards if you have a picture on your business card, as this enhances the color. It s best to go with the classic paper (heavy and professionally printed of course.)

My GM yells at employees in front of customers. Is this professional behavior? -

I ve worked at this restaurant for some six years (ever since high school, I m now in college). There is a high turnover rate; however I ve seen nearly every employee/GM/Supervisor come and go. I ve got to say nothing grinds my gears that being yelled at OR seeing somebody else go through that same punishment. I believe that it is utterly unprofessional and not to sound Dwight-like but, a sign of weakness--not leadership.So, my GM (who everyone hates for being inept) has yelled at employees over nothing (like staying 3 minutes over their time to help- today s example). What is worse is that this makes the environment uncomfortable for the staff and the customers; especially since they re in the same room. I ve been there six years and I know my way around and I ve got to tell ya, I ve never seen anything like it before; it utterly offends me. Especially because these are just kids, neneophytes with less that 4 weeks on the job. They don t know everything yet. At this point I just don t know what to do. I was about to speak up to her about it, my superior, but thought that I should give it a day or two to think about. Should I tell her boss? Bother him about it? This just seems so unprofessional to me, ya know?

Your GM is an inept idiot. It is very inadequate to yell at employees, especially in front of customers, which leaves a horrific impression of the place. It is appropriate to call the employee in the kitchen or office, in order to reprimand. Your GM knows he is not capable of handling personnel or even the restaurant. His actions are the result of a complex stemming from ignorance and lack of authority. Besides, his yelling can also be considered harassment. Sooner or later he may find his match , who will address the issue with the Department of Labor.
