New buying type scam through PayPal? I dont wanna get jipped? -

Ok. so on eBay, i posted my e-mail selling my iPhone. a few people side e-mailing me saying they would but it through Pay-Pal. But i know there s a scam involved. they re offering 450 dollars, plus 80 shipping. And yes, they are in the States. I ve gotten a few accidental checks, where they would write and extra zero and as to cash, than wire the money back. Which, I m not that dumb. I ve always known Pay-Pal to be really secure, but how would this bite me If i agreed and took a payment for giggles?:T man this iPhones been trouble. lol

YOU might be the one who winds up getting ripped off - 1- you better get tracking, insurance and signature/delivery confirm and do not ship until at least a week and the payment says completed, to make sure you don t get ripped off - I would also tell the buyer- the phone is as-is / no returns - anyone buying a used cell phone over the internet is an idiot to begin with

Sounds like the only one who will giggle will be the one offering to buy your phone.

Is 53 U.S. dollars a fair shipping charge for three small items being mailed from Austria to New York? -

My mother left a disposable camera, a little photo booklet and a cell phone adapter in a hotel in Austria. The hotel will mail these to NY for a shipping charge of $53 US dollars (35 Euros). I was shocked by this price. The items put together cost less than that. I m almost afraid we re being ripped off -- but then I ve never had anything shipped from Europe, so maybe it is fair. Anyone have any experience with this kind of thing?

Wow. That sounds really expensive. I would tell your mom that you can give it to her next time you see her OR send it to someone in the USA that you know that is closer then New York and have them send it to ur mom. Like I live in Ohio. If i wanted to send something to California but i didn t have enough money then i would send it to Wyoming (I know someone who lives in Wyoming) and i would ask them to send it to my mom for me.

Sadly that is a fair charge...my sister is studying abroad in Scotland and it cost my mom around $40+ to send my sister two of the smallest flat rate boxes from USPS. It s not fair that they are allowed to charge that much, but unfortunately that is realistic.

Why would a big business act small? -

I am only looking for a couple reasons why a big business would act small.

Often times a large business creates divisions to be able to address certain issues that are problematic with one big entity. One reason is customer service. If a company has multiple locations but all the commands have to go through the big cheese or one central office. There will be a lot of work at one location creating a backlog. This slows down the activity and also slows down response to customers. Let s say a client wants something done but the business has to get approval from the manager first. The client would have to wait. The manager will have hundreds of approvals to go through and he would not know the full needs of each client. It simplifies marketing strategies. Different divisions of a company act like small businesses and have control of marketing within their area. If you have a national advertisment for one product that is targeted at one type of audience, you will be missing a lot of customers whom are not part of that audience. But if you have a town that has a fair each year, the branch in that town can sponsor the fair and use that as a more affective marketing strategy (direct marketing).Smaller businesses or divisions have less overhead as compared to one huge conglomerate. The division will be able to better manage their products or services with specific action to meet the requirements of that division. Minimal / consice information is sent between divisions and the headquarters simplifying communications, documentation, logistics, legalities and financial processes. There are a few more reasons but generally speaking, small business is the best way to interact with customers / clients while big business is a more efficient way to make money. When both are put together it s the best of both worlds. Hope this helps you out. Good luck
