Nature of business question? -

I was wondering for a school project, what is the nature of business of a house swapping business?? For example: http://homeaway.comThanks! :)

okay i ve never heard of a house swapping business. i visited that website but just skimmed though it. it looks like if people have additional property they can post it online to that website so people looking to vacation can rent your stuff. the nature would be like tourism. pretty good idea if you think about it. people need money these days and if you ve got the goods in the right place(s), you can make a little extra on the side. but of course leasing it for the long term would be ideal as it would yield a consistent return.

Can a Plaintiff go after my LLC if they sue me personally? -

I know that if someone sues an llc, they cannot go after the personal assets of the partners - beyond the value of the respctive llc, but if someone sues a partern can they go after the partner s interst in the llc?Let s say for example that one of the partner s runs over a pedestrian on the sidewalk and they sue him for more than the coverage limits on his auto insurance. Could that plaintiff then go after the defendant s stake in an llc in which he is a member, or is this protected?

Yes, they can attach any $ going from the LLC to the partner. Also, there is the legal concept of piercing the corporate veil ., which means that the LLC could be at risk, depending upon what actions have been taken by this partner

Business in property management? -

I would like to open a business as a property management(maintenance) llc , more specific taking care of vacant homes.... is there a market for this? i would like to start small and build a solid list of clients. any opinions or advice would be very much appreciated. i come from a real estate sales background.

There may be a market for it, it depends on where you live. I live in the Aspen CO, area and there are a lot of vacation homes here. Here there is a market for property management Companies. I personally do property maintenance for a property management co. that manages rentals for property owners. If you want to try to break into the market. I would advise getting a liability insurance policy and going to vistaprint.com and having business cards made. Don t quit your job until you have enough clients to replace your current income. It s a lot of word of mouth and can be a tough nitch to get into. Another note, most property management companies don t do their own maintenance work, they hire it out. It can be a conflict of interest. For example, if your getting paid to manage the property and do the maintenance. Your client could accuse you of claiming there is a problem and pocketing the repair money. The company I contract for always gets 2-4 bids from different companies and turn those into the owner and let them decide what to do.

As a person involved in property management - you know that there are many fine specialty magazines that are sent to RE Agents and brokers - those are your clients. Go to your local Real Estate Brokers Licensing centers and look for publications that you can use to advertise your special services. Also you can use your yellow pages effectively by sending flyer s to RE agents, keep your rates out of the flyer s - that s something that you reveal when they call for Information and details of your services.

If you have just a bank card is that enough for an ebay account or do you need a credit card? -

A bank card is good enough for Ebay, yes.

If you mean a Paypal account, you need a debit card, credit card, or bank account to go with it.

How to start a business, reatail store..? -

My best friend is thinking of starting his own retail store in Sydney. He is going to sell hip hop clothing, sneakers etc.Is there a course he can take to learn all the basics of starting a business? Is there any advice you can give? Its only going to be a small store he will have one full time worker, plus himself and someone who works weekends. Obviously some one will have to do the accounts once a week or so..

Look for the book In Business For Yourself by Bruce Williams. It is a good introductory guide to starting your own company. There are several books on the subject, but for beginners, this is one of the best.Talk to your local Small Business Administration, or Ministry of Economic Development, or your local Chamber of Commerce for advice on getting started.Good luck.

It s a lot of work, you say one full time worker and someone to work weekends....expect to put in twice as much time as you have planned out already. Hard work and determination.

Do you know a site that gives Office Space Solutions in the Philippines? -

I wonder what site could you recommend that specializes on office spaces in the country. Offers affordable yet high-quality spaces.

I suggest you visit bizeen.com, it s a business community website for entrepreneurs here in the philippines. You will be able to find different merchants there, and it s a great place to seek any products or services you would need. I would recommend that you create your own profile (its free) so that you can also participate in the forums and ask anything you may want to... also by having your own profile you will be able to promote your own business, brand, and product.... it s like your own business website where other people can easily find you.

I can recommend you a site that solves your problem. Try this site that gives solution to your office space. You can find here many services either a lease office space or temporary shared office space. Check the source for more information.

After selling an item on ebay how do you go by shipping the item? -

I just sold an item on ebay they paid me already through paypal, do i have to print a shipping label online or can i just say the item has been shipped and pay for it at a UPS store and enter my tracking code later? And on the Pay-pal screen to confirm the payment can i click the item has been sent then send it later that day?

I agree with the other answerer that you should take to someone to ship it this time. A UPS store can pack it, address it/label it and all that. You just need to take the item, the address and some money to pay for shipping and their services. If you want to save some money you can pack and box it before you do.If you intend to do a lot of eBay selling in the future, though, look into how to ship yourself. From PayPal, you can set up accounts with both USPS and UPS. At both those carrier s websites, they offer a lot on info on how to box an item for shipping. Do a search of the eBay guides for tutorials on this, too. BTW, the general rule of thumb I use is that if it s small and no more than 1 lb., I ship it USPS-- either First Class or Priority and if it s heavier, I ship UPS. But you have to be very careful to keep it both well packed and small enough you re not charged extra for larger dimensions.

Deep in thought gave you the best answer. It will save you a lot of time though if you learn how to print the labels at home. FedEx Ground and USPS can be a lot less expensive than UPS so check that out. I ve had more items damaged by UPS than the other two.

Just take it to the UPS store, give them the address, pay for it, then e-mail the tracking number to the winning bidder.I always wait till I get home to confirm the item has been sent.

How do people make money on websites that dont sell any product? -

I ve always wondered that, like craigslist, or gossip sites, or where people just talk, how do the people who start the sight get rich?

I don t think all sites make money, (I m think craigslist). But blog sites like you mention probably make money by through advertising. If you can generate enough traffic to your site advertisers will pay a lot of money to advertise on these sites.

They can rent advertising space because they get a lot of traffic. Craigslist does charge $25 per ad in the big cities.
