How much money will I need to start this business? -

I want to open a semi small smoothies and fruit store

I d guess about $200,000 minimum. Rent and security deposits, deposits for utilities, furniture, refrigerators and equipment, wages, licenses, advertising. And if your business is like most, you will probably lose money for the first year or two, so you need working capital to keep you going until revenues start to pick up.

How to make a retail job day go quicker? -

I work in a retail store and it always seems that the day just drags and drags on forever. I don t wear a watch, and there are no clocks around besides the ones on the registers. I m always looking for something to do, or someone to help. But it never fails, 5 hours seems to turn into 10...anyone have some ideas?

Don t worry, Christmas is coming up and you ll soon be busier than ever! Seriously though, when I worked in retail I would clean everything possible when I got bored.

Why am I the only hourly employee? -

I work as an accounting, administrative, and general assistant at a 15-person architecture firm. In a recent meeting, I was told that I am the only hourly employee at our firm because I don t make any important decisions or supervise any employees. That s just fine... but why am I the only hourly employee? Out of fifteen people, there are also five draftsmen who do not supervise employees or make any decisions; an executive assistant without authorization to supervise or make decisions; and myself. Surely these other employees, who don t make decisions or supervise others, should be hourly too?It just seems unfair that I am the only hourly employee, when others are clearly not in supervisory roles. How can I get my boss to salary me?

Under the Fair Labors Standards Act (FLSA), employees are defined as either exempt or non-exempt. Exempt employees are guaranteed their lowest wage (salary) for the given work week where as non-exempt employees are paid hourly. The job duties of the traditional learned professions are exempt. These include lawyers, doctors, dentists, teachers, architects, clergy. Also included are registered nurses (but not LPNs), accountants (but not bookkeepers), engineers (who have engineering degrees or the equivalent and perform work of the sort usually performed by licensed professional engineers), actuaries, scientists (but not technicians), pharmacists, and other employees who perform work requiring advanced knowledge similar to that historically associated with the traditional learned professions.Professionally exempt work means work which is predominantly intellectual, requires specialized education, and involves the exercise of discretion and judgment. Professionally exempt workers must have education beyond high school, and usually beyond college, in fields that are distinguished from (more academic than) the mechanical arts or skilled trades. Advanced degrees are the most common measure of this, but are not absolutely necessary if an employee has attained a similar level of advanced education through other means (and perform essentially the same kind of work as similar employees who do have advanced degrees). Some employees may also perform creative professional job duties which are exempt. This classification applies to jobs such as actors, musicians, composers, writers, cartoonists, and some journalists. It is meant to cover employees in these kinds of jobs whose work requires invention, imagination, originality or talent; who contribute a unique interpretation or analysis. Long story short, exempt employees may perform over time work without additional compensation whereas the law requires the employer to pay OT for hourly workers. In any traditional architectural office, it is highly likely that management and technical personnel are required to work 5-15 hours of OT/week. In that sense, you have an advantage over your co-workers.

How can I find a better job in data entry.............? -

I would assume since you say better that you already have a job in data entry. I also assume that you probably do the data entry in an office since very few are able to do so from home. What i would then suggest is that you look at what makes your current job less enjoyable than what you want. Once you identify that start going to other business that employ data entry clerks - you should have an idea of the types of business to start at since you are currently in it. Then ask for an interview, let the hr person know your skills, and why he should hire you. Don t forget to ask questions that help you know if that company can give you a better job than you currently have. If not try another and another until you find one that fits.

What is the difference between a business loan and a grant? -

I am interested in starting my own business and was told to try and get government grants because they do not have to be paid back and if that fails then get a start up business loan? whats the best thing to do?

Seems fairly self-explanatory to me. You would always want to take the deal where you don t have to pay the money back. However, check the fine print - are there other strings attached (you have to locate in a certain city, you have to spend it in a certain timeframe, or you have to hire x number of people) ... always check the fine print - even if you go with a loan that you have to pay back.

Hello,I am steff by name, I live in uk , just a few weeks ago I was in search for a loan of $ 60,000 Dollars, as my family was running out of money for feeding and my education. I was scammed about $7,500 Dollars and I decided not to involve my self in such business again finally A colleague of my introduced me to a loan firm due to my appearance and doings. How do i reply the rigght way to a craigslist job offer ? -

what do i do and how do i do reply to a job offer on craigslist.com there are a few really good offers adn iam having a hard timee..helllp !

you have to beware of jobs that don t show the company name...I have read that some people post jobs just to get your resume and use it for there own personal use. A company will realize that you do not want to e-mail your references and you will give them to the company in person. I would only send in a vague idea of where you live and not your exact address, if you have one a cell number and not your home number

There are a LOT of fraudulant ads on Craigslist. Keep in mind that the Craigslist staff DOES NOT verify these ads. A lot of people are being hurt and scammed through jobs ads on Craigslist. Before you continue looking for a job on Craigslist read through http://www.howtobeatcraigslist.uni.cc/ where they explain all the job related scams you will find. There are identity thieves and mental cases all trolling around Craigslist posting ads and looking for someone to hurt. Be careful, and be informed.

Some of the jobs on Craigslist are frauds.Only consider jobs that are local to your area and the interview is in their location.Do NOT respond to personal assistant positions.

this is good time dont think so much take good offers. all the best

Independent contractors pay issue? -

I m an independent contractor who s having a bit of a problem with being paid on time. Company I work for have a guide line of 30days til the contractors to be paid from the invoice submit day. But I have waited over 50 days in the past and the communication is so poor it s not even funny. They don t call me back or e-mail me back when i want to check the status of pay. I always come to find out one person didn t do a job they were hired to do and I always have to somehow catch them on the phone alive to follow up the status. Is there any rights to an independent contractors as far as pay?

Small claims court. My dad used to get paid 6 months late and was only happy if it helped his taxes. (One of the checks came in after he died and lo, we didn t have to pay the 15.3% self-employment tax since he was dead already.)Apparently this *is* a common problem. I have used contractors in the past that billed me and at least one told me he wouldn t have had Christmas if I hadn t paid on time--because all of his other clients stalled until after New Year s.
