How can you find out if a name of a business has not been used? -

How much trouble will you be in if you use a name that is already in exsistence?

There are businesses that do have the same name but they are usually located in different cities and/or states. Each business name has to be registered though and you will have a business identification number or what is called a FEIN number. (a tax identification number). This is sometimes your social security number if you have a very small home business for example. You cannot use a trademark already in existence. Ex: You can use the name McDonalds (if it is your name )but you cannot associate it with golden arches or similar colors. You can use different variations of names or think of something creative, a name pertaining to the type of business you might be starting. For example, I had a cleaning business (offices, homes, factories) My business was called Mighty Brite Cleaning. Try thinking outside the box.Call your local Department of Revenue. They will provide you with all the instructions you need as far as getting your business name established. It is not very difficult at all.

Using the name of an existing business or someone else s trademarked property can get you sued (and every cent you made under that name can be claimed by that party, plus interest, penalties, etc), or can get you thrown in prison for a number of years plus fines (violation of trademark and/or copyright laws).Do NOT use someone else s trademark, service mark, or registered business name.Have your Intellectual Property attorney do a trademark and service mark search. Check with the Secretary of the State office in your state capitol. There will be a corporate registration office within your state s Secretary of the State office. Check there for name availability, and if available, you can reserve your name for a fee while you incorporate or form an LLC, etcCheck available domain names for your website. If the website using your chosen name is taken, that biz name is taken somewhere, too, perhaps in your country, perhaps abroad, but you would want to get your domain name wherever you are. Also, you would not your good name sullied by some crook in some hole who s using your tradename for their crooked website. So you have to do google and other web searches, domain name searches, as well as various governments business registration offices.

What are your thoughts on Ebay and Paypal? I used to use them years ago, I was ripped off so I quit.? -

Craigslist is cool, but people are cheap and rude. Ebay and Paypal rip you with fee s and pretty sh*ty service, but you get what your items are worth! Tough call.... Also, ebay forces you to accept Paypal now don t they?

they dont force you to, its just strongly encouraged . since they are the same company they do rip ya, and as a seller there is hardly any protection for you.

Unless you have local pickup option, you have to use PayPal now (no checks, MO s, etc.). They were supposed to have other competing payment processors available, but don t know if that has happened yet.eBay and PayPal do not rip you off with fees; they charge for the services they provide as any business would. Since you were last there, they have instituted many new protections for both buyers and sellers. A lot has changed. If you don t make insured and confirmed/tracked shipments an option but rather require them on all transactions, you have the protection you need to prevent bogus did t get it claims. You don t get bad checks or forged money orders.Specify complete terms in the auction clearly, including any return policy so they know up front (if you allow returns) that they will be responsible for the return shipping costs, you must receive the item back in good condition and won t refund until it arrives, and you will only refund the purchase price and not the initial shipping costs. You re still going to have the hopefully rare misunderstanding but these things will happen.Or, just stay with Craigslist and put up with the bargain shoppers. I ve found after years on both eBay and Craigslist that people tend to reflect the attitude I approach them with. There will always be the unrepentent jerk out there, but I don t let that keep me from moving on.

I ve used eBay for buying and selling and so far have not had a bad experience. All buyers and sellers seem really friendly and the benefit of Paypal is that you don t have to give out your bank details to any of the people you trade with. I would highly recommend eBay.

When im babysitting should i ask the parents if they have a gun in the house? -

Yes. That s a great idea to ask, because what if they kids find it? Anyways, I know in California it s a rule to have a safety lock on guns. But yeah, I think you should ask.Answer mine?http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhGqE12.nxr94psT65E8bETsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20091202202238AAEQCYE

Indeed you damned well should, those horrible little mobile shite generators can be quite nauseous at times and if they start screaming whilst you are having a quiet moment with a beer and pizza then it is only right and proper that you defend yourself against the little swines. Either that, or throw them outside for a while especially if it is snowing, that will teach them to shut up for a while.

Guns seem a little bit extreme to me, you point it, you.ve got to use it or risk a complete breakdown in respec, a large hungry lame dog would be just as effective at ensuring the little ones stay in bed that your evening is guaranteed the absolute maximum in undisturbed quality time

That s always a good thing to know, yes.

How do people on ebay get thier cell phone ect. products to sell so cheap? -

I go on ebay and buy cell phone chargers and such and I just want to know where they get the stuff at and be able to sell it so cheap? Do they buy like thousands of dollars worth and make profit or how does this happen. I see that people from Hong Kong sell alot of things like this.

either buy in extremely large bulk or stolen goods - either way it makes it very difficult for the average person to make a buck

How much commission do you get payed working at a Future Shop in Canada? -

Explain how paypal works when have sold an item? -

Paypal works as in between the buyer and the seller. They collect the money from the person who bought the item from you. They then take their fees from the payment and deliver the rest of the money into your paypal account. They work like Visa or Mastercard to arrange the payments.

Assuming you re asking about selling an item on eBay: You ll get notified by eBay that your item has sold and you ll be given contact information for the buyer. After you ve received your payment, you package up your item and bring it to the Post Office and mail it to the buyer.

I wanna start selling things online. TIPS? -

I want to sell things in the electronics department. maybe like cell phones or phone skins, computer stuff etc. How do i start and what do people often look to buy in electronics?

what do you want to sell online? electronics / books / apparels / home appliances or kitchenware?then do you intend to use any online billing?put a website and share the site details in online blogs, make sure the traffic is increased day by day in your website. for this you have to use appropriate search keywords and you need to categorize your website accordingly and finally you see to that its listed in top 10 searches in google search engine. ALL THE BEST

The best thing to do would be to sign up for an affiliate account on Amazon. Then you can post affiliate links on the web. Don t do it on yahoo though. What I would do is find something to sell from Amazon, say a phone cover. Then I would write a review article about it on a site like Snipsly.com. People search for phone accessories. They read your article. Click on the affiliate link, buy the product. You get paid. But it s not quite as easy at it sounds. The cash wouldn t be flowing hardcore unless you had a lot of traffic.

I suggest to visit www.priceminister.imp.ma maybe it can help you

How much should I charge to install a ceiling fan? -

I m Going to install a couple fans for my buddy, I been doing electrical for a while but I m just getting into side work. what would you charge for 2 fans?

If you re doing it alone, it can be a pain the *** some times depending on the size of the fan and how nice it looks. The nicer it is, the harder it is, usually. I would do it for $100. (If he s your friend.)

I d charge by the hour. For a friend, $40 per hour.

What are some ways that a new business owner can make sure that they have work-life balance? -

Owning and running a business takes so much time and energy and its very hard to leave work at work, especially in the start-up phase. What are some ways that a new business owner can make sure that they have work-life balance and don t spend 24 hours a day thinking about (and working on) their business.

All i can say is good luck with that. My aunt has been a business owner of the restraunt of which i work, and it is very hectic for her, always on her feet from 8am - 9:30pm, trying to get everything in order. It really takes a toll on her family life. I would say take at least 1 day off to rest relax and spend time with family. Maybe hire on some help or have a trusted family member help you with accounting and placing orders for products, opening and closing, things like that would help. Although i d handle the money myself as much as possible. Take some business classes as well if you havent already, they help a ton.

First of all, maybe it s time to bury the work-life balance phrase once and for all. The image of a teeter-totter or a scale needing to be in perfect balance is a total non-starter for me. I wouldn t bring this up unless I felt that terminology was an impediment to a healthy flow to your work life. To use Marci s writer s life as an example, I don t think it s rational that she can be balanced -- her friends are part of her work life and her work is integral to her friendships. Why would she even want to balance that? With that as the backdrop, I think the real issue we re talking about is leading a more fulfilling life by keeping a reasonable relationship among the differing elements of our lives. In other words, can we be good spouses, good parents, healthy community citizens and great business owners at the same time? I totally believe we can.Beyond the counsel that Marci has already given, I have a few thoughts on how to do that:-- Focus on one thing at a time. Nothing is less effective for managing time than attempting to multi-task. Just ask your kids, who are asking you the same question three times while you re staring at your computer screen trying to answer an email from that pest of a client. I solve this by trying to segregate my time -- this chunk of time is for email (by the way, that doesn t need to be more than three times a day unless there s a crisis); this chunk of time is for 100 percent focus on my wife; this chunk time is for connecting with customers, etc. Be intentional about this and don t fudge.-- Realize that your business is yours. That means the midday workout can happen without having to seek permission. You can leave at 2 p.m. to see your kid s school play. The great thing about running your own company is that you have the freedom of flexible time. Use it without guilt. Maybe it means you can t watch House later, but what s more important, the show or your kid s play?-- Train others well. For people in retail businesses -- especially restaurants -- the hours can be especially brutal. You have to be there before the 9-to-5ers go to work and you have to be there afterward as well. Without others you can trust, you re never going to make this process work. The good news is that there are plenty of great people looking for work these days. Save your sanity, hire a winner.

You ve hit on one of the most vexing issues for all entrepreneurs. When you work for yourself, you re often doing something you d choose to do even if it weren t called work. Still, the healthiest entrepreneurs seem to have natural ways to unplug and step away, which is both appealing to people who are close to them and good for the business; after all, we often do our best problem-solving and creative thinking when we get some distance from work. I ve worked for myself for more than a decade and I have had an especially difficult time separating work and life because I work at home, I do the type of work that can be done anywhere, and I spend a lot of my off-work time with writers, the very people I work with. After a few years of boasting that I rarely needed to unplug, even I realized that my brain started to get tired and fuzzy when I never gave it a rest from what it does for work. So I created artificial constraints to make sure that I regularly took time off. Here are three that work for me.1. Create your own sabbath. Designate certain days or periods of the day when you won t work. For many people, this means shutting down after dinner or at least one day of the weekend. If your business doesn t operate on that kind of schedule, you ll need to devise something that fits your own situation. 2. Build regular exercise into your week. Several mornings a week, I meet a friend for a walk in Central Park. We walk for an hour and a half and it takes me almost 20 minutes of travel time each way, so I give up a big chunk of time to this commitment. But it forces me to socialize, to get good exercise, and to have a few mornings when I don t roll right out of bed and onto the computer.3. Schedule real vacations. Research shows that mental rest is the very thing that leads to aha moments at work. http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/your In a small way, this happens when you take a shower and suddenly solve some problem that was gnawing at you all day. In a bigger way, it happens when we physically step away from our day-to-day routines for a while. Any other entrepreneurs have work/life rules you live by?
