How can I go about opening up a small boutique in the Atlanta area? -

I have a strong desire to open up a fashion boutique. Right now in my life, it doesn t have to be a high end boutique, but I would like to know how to go about things. How do I began to get loans, items for the boutique, help, business letter, etc?I would like to have 1) wedding consignment boutique and/or 2) a fashion boutique. Please Help!!

I would set up a time to visit the Small Business Development Center and Business Consultants in Atlanta --through the Small business Administration. There are lots of resources there that can help you. They will help you even research to determine if it is a viable idea; just because you think it is a good idea, does not mean the target market is there; help draw up a business plan; guide you toward loans (however in this economy --they have been sparse). I would focus on one of the two ideas above----make that one successful. I would also suggest you read Michael Gerber s E Myth and E Myth Revisited. I would also look on the internet and find boutiques in other cities and talk with the owners to find out what challenges and successes they have. Some will be willing to talk with you, some may not.

How much does it cost to rent out a room at club sugar in Milwaukee Wisconsin? -

OK so my sweet 16 is coming up in 15 days! Sooo excited! I want it all to be perfect, but I want to know how much it would cost to rent out a room. If it is, say $5,000 do you have any other ideas? I couldn t have it at my house! My school is huge, and my house is just a little it to small for something like this.

Opening kids shoe store Looking for names? -

Opening a kids shoe store in Boston. Would love your ideas on some names. We are hoping the name could have something to do with Ducks or make way for duckings.

Why ducks? How about Little Piggies as in this little piggie went to market, etc.)Piggies are cuter than ducks :)

Splish splash shoe store little duckling duck in little puddles yellow feathers ugly duckling it would give the little fellow some claim to fame to have a shoe store named after him , I would not like the name you suggested you said it would be nice if it had *duck * in it and we were all scratching our brains !!!

What kind of permits do I need if I am starting a home business in CA? -

I am thinking of opening an in-home braiding/extension studio where I will be selling hair products and accessories. What kind of licenses/permits would I need (other than a cosmetology license which isn t required in order to braid hair in CA). I don t plan on having any employees or business partners, so I think it would be considered a sole proprietorship, but for the strangest reason, there seems to be least amount of info on ventures like these.Any info or advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated!!!

Go for it. My suggestion would be to call city hall and ask them if you are within their city and you want to open your homes doors to start a business of braiding hair. How can you make it so it s legal in every way. City hall knows and since you didn t state your city, I can t tell you the answer.

You need to get a federal EIN, and a state sales tax permit. There may also be other industry specific licenses you need. Check your state laws for specific permits. It s also a good idea for tax and liability reasons to incorporate your business. An LLC is the easiest way to do this. A sole proprietorship creates some major liability and you end up paying more taxes than through a self owned corporation. There are a number of online businesses that can help you set this up. You may want to consult a local CPA who can explain the specific tax benefits.

Whats a good business idea, two 16 yr old students looking to make a little money? -

please help, would like to start a business, something to save money for uni, and for a car! Help please ! Thanks

interview your neighbors, out to 1/2 milefind UNMET needs and see which ones you would like to fillthis is what all entrepreneurs, PT or FT must do!

A good idea is a new one. Not a recycled internet idea. But as a general rule buying/selling has poor operating profit margins, services have greater profit margins. Sell your soul to the devil. Or work to your strengths, what do you know like?

try organising kids parties, i did it and it earns quite a bit, plus u get free food and cake.....n play stupid funny games.or u could do the usual, get a job in a clothes shop, or delivering papers.....n pizzas

I would look at your hobbies. If you can turn a hobby into a business it makes working fun.Do you have any special skills? any hobbies?

i heard about the 16 year old who made 17,000 in 3 months as a prostitute. not recommending it just telling you the news.

How about making home made cards? could be good with Christmas and Eid coming up.

spray dirt up cars, then set up a carwash

Can anyone help me find information about Bed and Breakfasts? -

I m doing research for a business class. I need to know on average how much money a Bed and Breakfast near a moderatly visited mountain ski area would make a year? If anyone knows first-hand or a website that might have that kind of information that would be great. Since most B Bs are run by only a few people and not traded they don t post their numbers. Thanks!

Google it, Tara.

The figures would depend on a number of factors. What you need to do is create a model and go from there. How many rooms? What is included? How much does it cost to keep a guest there one night? How much will the guest pay for that night? What is the rate of occupancy year-round? Peak season? Summer? What does moderately visited ski area mean? You have to define your terms. The few people that I know who run B Bs had a good bit of money before opening their establishements. The business operate in the black but are not enormous money makers. Most people who run B Bs do so for the lifestyle; many of them have come away from high-pressure stress jobs to become innkeepers. In other words, while a well-run inn would make a profit, the average B B more than likely comes out just better than even each year. There are a number of books on how to open and run a B B and lots of websites:http://www.spitzerhouse.com/Articles/Inn(check out the links at the bottom of the spitzer page)http://www.businessplanworld.com/plan.hthttp://www.openabedandbreakfast.com/http://www.amazon.com/Financially-Succes

Most B Bs don t make a profit. Most operate to help pay some of their bills. They are Hobby Businesses.
