How can eBay sellers afford quot;free shippingquot;? -

Some items sell for $2.00 with no shipping costs, how is this possible. A lot are shipped from Hong Kong to Canada with out shipping fees, that seems like it should be expensive and a lengthy process, yet they say it will be less 6-14 day? If someone could explain this please.

They are loss leaders or build it into the purchase price.........or..........sell your address and information you give them......scary........isn t it..........mail lists are really expensive if they are accurate...........

If it seems to good to be true, it probably is.

Help me with an online order from a store? -

I want to buy some items from a UK store, however when I place the order, it asks these information for my card;Card Type: *CardNumber: *Expiry Date (mm/yy): *CVC (last three digits on back of card): *Card Issuer(e.g. MBNA, Citibank): *Is it safe to give those information? I always bought from Ebay which it allows you to pay with Paypal instead. Help?

If it s a legitimate, reputable store s Web site, then yes, it s perfectly safe to give them all your information. On the other hand, if it s a site like CheapRipOffs4U.com, then maybe not.

How can I make money as a teenaqer with a tight schedule? -

You can start an online business if you are at least 13 years old.Things I look for in a business are free or low cost to join, free or low cost to run, some level of training and/or support, a website or information on how to create one, and a simple duplicatable business success system. The company and people should support and train you because when you make money they make money. I really like businesses that can be run part time, from home, and online.

Ebay Fees for Canceled transaction...? -

hi, im selling my car, and a buyer won the bidding. Now he says he didnt realize the transmission was manual and he don t want it any more.As far as i now Ebay refunds Final value fee, if we both agree to cancel it, which is fine with me.But on his email he mentioned that he knows there are ebay fees for canceling the transaction, and he is willing to pay them via Pay pal I dont know what he is talking about.Do i have the right to charge him, for changing his mind. or is he just wrong? Thanks for your helpful answers!

YES !!If you and the buyer come to a mutual agreement, than you canrequest a refund of the Final Value Fee.Log-in to your Ebay account and follow the necessary stepsto complete this reversal. Ebay will not refund the listing fees, so if the buyer is willing to reimburse you for it, than have him do so.Don t forget that you also have the option to submit a Second Chance Offer provided that there where other bidders.Good luck !!John Komatsoulis - Ebay Power Seller for 10 years

HI Ebay does not refund the Listing fee ( whatever you paid them to list the car)If its any signifigant amount, its very nice of him to offer that

Is it legal for a website to say its not responsible for items lost in the mail ? -

under their shipping policies, they use royal mail and say that you can pay extra for it to be sent recorded and signed for, but if you were to pay the regular postage, and the items get lost, they are not responsible. Is that even legal? Why should we have to pay more for the postage, if an item does not arrive, should they as a retailer take it up with royal mail instead of telling the customer too bad ?

Well it s perfectly legal for them to say that, it just has no basis in reality:As Masked Landlord points out, the contract is between yourself and the seller, nothing to do with the courier, the seller is liable for breach of contract. If you want further reassurance distance selling regulation in the UK says that you have a legal right to receive your goods from the seller in a timely manner, usually interpreted as 30 days... no exemption like unless they get lost in the post or unless its the courier s fault, in which case you ll have to sort it out with them !

Yes, its legal.Once they ve paid for postage and the items have been dispatched, then its the responsibility of Royal Mail to deliver the goods. By paying extra for a recorded delivery you have an extra guarantee (from Royal Mail, not the vendor) that the goods will be delivered, and a better chance of tracking them down if they do go astray. If the disclaimer was clear on the website and you were given the option to buy the better service from Royal Mail, then the vendor really hasn t done anything wrong. Sorry.

I disagree with the other posters. If you pay a company a p p charge, then you are paying them for the delivery of the goods. If they do not deliver them, it is their responsibility. Who they choose to sub-contract that to is up to them. There are 2 contracts in this scenario1) You Seller2) Seller CarrierThere is no contract between you and carrier, so you have no rights in that respect.According to the Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumer Regulations 2002 the goods remain at the sellers risk until they are delivered to the consumer.

no its not illegal, same when you go to a post office and send something out, you have to pay that litle bit extra for it to et to its destination 100%

What would i have to major in, in college if i wanted to run my own boutique? -

im kind of stuck, i not sure if i want to open my own up scale boutique or if i want to open up my own photo studio. What would be my best shot at success? what would i have to major in to achieve my dreams? please help!much love -kaytee 3

First off you do not have to have any degree to open you own business. However I would go with a business degree. I m a business consultant, and just about every business I go to has a owner that is very knowledgeable in their trade or craft. However they have no ideal on how a business works or how to run it. Any person that understands how ANY business works will always do better then someone else that just knows about the trade or objects the business supplies and not how the business works. They may be great with camera gear or know all the latest dress styles, but if they do not understand labor/material costs, or overhead costs, and some basic accounting or marketing skills then they will FAIL

It would be good if you majored in business administration, marketing or entrepreneurship. That way you ll learn how to run your own business. Most businesses fail because the owner had no idea what they were doing.

What type of business should I mark my business to operate as? -

I m almost done with my business plan. I m stuck on something. I don t know sould I operate my business as a Corporation or Sole Prietorship if I m planning to run a photography and graphic designing business with employees I m planning to hire which will include a secretary, assistant, graphic designer and a beautican. Please help I m planning to open and start at the beginning to 2010.

First off, let me congratulate on your business venture. I m so excited for you because of the strong passion I have for business and hopefully you will gain one to. I wish you the best of luck and I hope to quickly here from you about the success you are having with your company. From personal experience this will be a task you won t regret, but at the same time please understand that it will be challenging. Now to answer your question on if you should operate a business as a corporation or sole prietorship, you first need to understand the difference between a corporation and a sole prietorship. If you chose to go the sole prietorship option, than a question u need to be prepared to answer is are you willing to put up personal assets for the sake of your company. In other words, if things go wrong with your company are you willing to put up your house or car. Yes you will be able to gain all profits but if things go wrong you are the only one responsible for all aspects of the business as a sole prietorship. With a corporation you will have to pay more and higher taxes. On the other hand all debts will be divided amongst all owners. I personal would use the corporation option because it is less risky. Again I wish you the best of luck and hopefully I answered your question. If you have any other questions pertaining to business, than don t hesistate to send me a email.

Hi L Ant,It s an important question. Do you have anyone else involved; a spouse? Have you defined an exit strategy? Is your investment from savings or outside sources? What kinds of local tax or building incentives will you be taking advantage of? Other govt incentives?A corporation offers some additional protections from some liabilities, but you will have to bring additional people into positions of ownership. Minor, perhaps, but it is certainly a consideration. Talk to your accountant, and your attorney. Try to think of what might go wrong, and what advantage/disadvantage each form of ownership would provide. Then, try to estimate the risk involved.Examine the differences in rates for your liability, worker s comp insurance, see if those make a difference.Good Luck!
