Can I start an online business as a sole proprietor as a minor? -

Can I start an online business as a sole proprietor as a minor?I m 17, Thanks.

I don t think there is an minimum age. You can shovel snow or mow your neighbors lawns for money (ok I realize these examples aren t online) and that could be seen as a business. If you re the only one operating it then it s a sole proprietorship.Make sure you get you re parent s OK before you do anything. There are a lot of scams out there--be careful. and you don t want to put a lot of time and effort into something just to have your parents shut you down.If you re interested I m doing now is free to sign up and has different components that you can join or not join if you choose. Some components are free and some aren t (those that aren t free have a free trial period). The free ones have a more limited earning capability but can be used to build capital for the ones with more substantial earning potential. The free component can also be used as proof that money can be made online before committing to options that require a monthly fee. You can make a little bit of money in a short period of time but to build significant income will take time and effort, it s not easy money. See my source for more information.

Well first off, the law is hazy here. A minor can buy but not own, of course I speak of large investments like houses or in this case a business. So, you won t be a business in the conventional sense where you register as one, but there is nothing stopping you from starting one. Confusing I know, the gist being just go ahead and start one. And of course, be careful of all those online scams that only take your money. I suggest going to WWW.BISAFFILIA.COM where they teach to make a profit with no start up investments and no sign-ups. And detail the finer points of what an affiliate program is and how to properly use them. Good Luck

What do i say so confused!!!!!? -

im going to a surf shop for an interveiw...what should i say if they ask me So wat do you do if a person is yelling at another customer or you and swearing / carrying on?? or If you catch someone stealing something

Your best answer is, I will follow the policies you set down. This is your store, and I am your employee. Unless you want me to do something else, here is what I would do: You have every right to refuse service to abusive customers and ask customers to leave, but that is not the best way to handle the situation. Use the line, I am sorry, but I am going to have to ask that you leave now. Please, come back when we aren t as busy. If possible give a coupon for a small discount to the person you ask to leave. They might be a jerk, but they might be happier when they come back with the coupon. After they leave, give the same discount to the other customer. Repeat behavior is not acceptable. The person yelling at customers will not get another coupon. The owner can refuse to let them shop there again.Customers who yell at you can be differed by saying I am sorry, am not meeting your expectations. Let me get the manager/somebody else to help you. As for thieves, you have the right to detain them until the police get there. The owner will have to decide whether or not to press charges.Armed robbers get whatever they want-you do not endanger yourself or customers. Write down everything as soon as possible regarding the robber s description and get-away vehicle and call the police.

I have found in my retail experience that most customers just want to be heard and acknowledged. If there are young ears around, stand up for them and ask them not to swear. Then ask the customer what it is that they want? or how is it that we can remedy this situation? . Most of the time angry customers just want to tell someone about the issue, or get a refund on an item. If you are rude, condescending, or short with a customer you can lose that customer and everyone they talk to in the future... If someone is stealing you cannot touch them. Tell a manager or loss prevention associate, they are prepared to handle these situations. It is not stealing until they get outside the building. If they put something in their pocket, it is still in the store so it is not legally stolen yet. Also, just watching someone or working near them will often make them stop stealing or even put the item back before leaving. If you have a manager or loss prevention associate there on site but they cannot make it to the door which the perp is exiting, just follow the person out and tell them to stop and come back into the store. Tell them why and keep them there until a manager comes to remedy the situation. Just don t lay a hand on them, they can actually sue you for it.

Answer to yelling person, Excuse me, can you please lower your voice, or I may have to ask you to leave thank you.Answer to stealing person,I would stop the person from leaving the store, and follow any procedure of theft that you have, I am willing to learn. Or stop them, charge them for the merchandise and charge extra for stealing, take down their information, report them and tell them to never come back.

Tell them 2 stopTell them to give it back

What impact do you think the current economic crisis is having on small businesses? -

What can small businesses do to help get through difficult economic times?

Small businesses will generally suffer unless they grow a niche clientele. Storefront businesses and ones with high overheads will be at greater risk as costs and taxation levels increase. However there are so many new great ideas out there, a shifting economy, and low borrowing rates that opportunities are good for a well researched business.

Small businesses are being hit the hardest by the current economic crisis in my opinion. Most have to lay off many workers if they had any and are having to put more time into their business by themselves which is leaving them less time with their family s.The only way I see that small businesses can get through these difficult times is to batten down the hatches and cut spending that is not essential even if that means having to let go of employees and do more of the work themselves. The more expense you can cut the better chance you have of making it through this,

Economic uncertainty is hard on businesses, but not on small/home business owners. There are huge opportunity because of people want to be buy things for themselves (to make them look younger and healthier). I am with the Freedom Project. We are a teaching and training company for home business builders. We are in business for over 53 years. We train all people at all experience levels to build a home based business with a #1 health and wellness company in the US. We are global in seven countries. We are truly a home business because all of our work are done at home (with a computer and telephone). Very little investment with huge franchise and business opportunity. Unlike others we don t do direct sales, carry inventory, home parties, or have to write or accept payments. All of it is done my the supplier company. We offer great travel incentives and opportunity to earn rewards toward a fully paid vacation. We have positioned ourselves to be in front of all trends. Time freedom, Financial freedom, Family, Friends, and Fun! learn more at www.waltz123freedom.com

It s really tough to say. Naturally, it s probably easy to say extremely tough however, there are some small businesses that are financially stable. They may want to cut all unnecessary expenses. Those that are really not needed but wanted as a minor luxury item.

Regardless of the economy, small businesses are going to be gone in the future anyways. Wal-Mart is going to own everything.

Based on the current tight credit market for small business what other avenues can we look to for help? -

We need the ability to run our businesses positively without the constant hammer of insecurity around finances and operations. We still need the safeguard or cushion of credit to maintain peace of mind and progress successfully. Any suggestions??

These are indeed brutal times to grab credit. The Small Business Administration has been expanding its loan-guarantee programs, but still banks have been tight in getting the cash to the small companies that so desperately need it. The result is that many entrepreneurs find the spigot shut off. Frustrating indeed. Here are a few thoughts for getting a capital cushion:-- All is not lost in loan land. There is talk these days that Goldman Sachs and Warren Buffett might create a new lending vehicle aimed at helping up to 10,000 small businesses. We ll have to stay tuned on that. But for now, there is an SBA loan that is lesser known and might be open to you. Called the Micro-Loan Program, it generates loans of up to $35,000 for businesses and certain nonprofits. The average loan is $13,000. But the best thing about the program is that it sidesteps banks altogether, with the lending being managed by community-based nonprofit organizations. You can learn more about it here: http://www.sba.gov/financialassistance/b-- As the stock market has stabilized, and even rebounded handsomely over the past few months, I m hearing increasingly of a rise in friends and family investments. Typically those investments are made in return for an ownership stake, but they can be structured as loans too. I ve been on both sides of those deals, both lending money and borrowing it from friends.-- Suppliers and customers are often a great, untapped source of capital. They have a vested interest in your financial health, and with the economy improving you might chat with the largest ones about extending credit.Hopefully, one of those solutions will be right for you.

depending upon what your business is...Equipment leasing for acquisition of new equipment. Get the equipment you need today and pay for it over a number of years. 100% financing allows the equipment to pay for itself. If you send out commercial invoices and your clients are taking more than 30 days to pay, you can sell those invoices and get cash for them, its called account receivable financing or factoring.A year ago when banks were extending credit and lines of credit this wasn t so important. You could pay your bills using the line and pay the line when your customers paid you. Now that lines have been reduced or closed businesses are finding it harder and harder to meet expenses because their A/R has increased. Factoring can save you interest on credit card charges and save you money by being able to take advantage of discounts offered by your suppliers. If you need more info on any of these.. please feel free to contact me. I provide both the above services.

The obvious things would be to trim the fat off the edges of your operations, and curb excessive spending both through the company as well as personally on your behalf. start saving more into your companies account... depending on what your gross is vs your expenditures, this may or may not make a lot of difference. You ll probably shoot me for saying this but.... as the company owner, (if you re an LLC) you could take a little less for yourself for a few months as well in order to grow the stockpile a little bit... Do whatever you have to do to put more money in your company bank account. Always remember that your BUSINESS funds are more important than your personal funds. obviously you ve grown used to a certain lifestyle, but it s better to lose a little bit of your own pay than to have to fire a few employees and temporarily ruin their lives. especially in this economy where it s difficult to find real work. Lots and lots of business owners are greedy like that. they d rather lay off employees than take a cut in their own paychecks. As a business owner myself, i think that s B.S. the other option of course is to invest MORE money into the company -wisely- in order to MAKE more money........ highly calculated risks that will bring a return are preferable. Advertising, sales, adding new products or promotions are all things people seem to forget about too. rather than spending a little bit on advertising and getting their names out there a little bit, they d rather......... again........ fire someone to make up for the money they don t have. either way, i have no idea how much of this really pertains to YOUR situation, but.... i hope it s a good start ... good luck

Try credit cards, honestly. Sites like findbizcards have a great portal for small business owners. Look for cards that will give you a 5k-10k limit. This way, you can always have a backup in the back of your head. Good luck.

If I sell an item on ebay, and then give a refund (with paypal), do I get my Final Value Fee back? -

Partial refunds cannot be used with a FVF credit. If you have to give a full refund (remember to use the refund button so you get your paypal fees back), you have 2 choices:mutually agreed to cancel that requires the buyer to agree before you get the credit--so educate them first.unpaid item dispute...this doesn t require the buyer to agree but dings thim if it s isn t their fault.

No, you would have to file a claim through eBay and the buyer may get a penalty in order to get the FVF back

About the business account? -

why it is so hard to open a business account? why the bank ask so many questions like my company s annual turnover? what my company s exactly going to do? how my company is going to make the money? I mean, it s my commercial secret, why I need to tell them so much details?? I went their place to have an account and they can make money from it. someone please tell me why the banks are so picky about the business account.many thanks

The government makes them do that. Its so the government can make sure they get the taxes due to them.

Does it look better if i walk in and apply for a job or apply on the internet? -

I have applied for like a million jobs online with minimal response! My friends tell me to walk around and hand resumes in but i have no confidence! What should i do....Help

It looks like everyone is unanimously saying to walk in . I however wouldn t automatically say this. I own a business and I prefer that they do not come in to give me a resume. I prefer to receive the resumes via email and then invite qualified candidates in for an interview. I say this as a warning only though. It really depends on the type of job you are applying for. If it is at a big company then it is unlikely you would even get to see the person who is doing the hiring. If it is a small company then your chances are better and if it is a really small company then you might even be able to make a job for yourself. For example ask yourself what do I like to do? and what am I good at? I hope you are looking for a job that has to do with your answers. That will make you more confident. If you are good at something and think you can help someone else make more money by doing it then you could go in to their office, not just with a resume, but with a plan. Tell them how you believe you can make them money (or save them money) and then ask for the chance to do it. That would impress a business owner. They want to hire people they can trust, who will take ownership of their position, and help a company grow. I ve never had anyone contact me through my profile so I don t know how to do it. If you have any questions about my answer please feel free to ask. I m happy to help.

Look. someone has a stack of applications that they have to go through. You show up and if they choose you they can forget the others. Act enthusiastic. Don t worry about self-confidence--this is the way you will build yours. By taking care of business instead of acting like a little baby. Internet only is good for non-local applications.

In person, most definitely! If you show up in person you can have the chance to show that you are sure of yourself and your answers. Just practice in front of the mirror, it sounds stupid but it works. Plus, I think if you apply in person it shows that you care enough to actually get up and go there. If you apply online it just looks like you stumbled across a link and said oh look, maybe ill try this . Good luck! :]

Walk in with your resume. It is harder for them to ignore you if you are standing there in person. Plus they are getting a first look without committing themselves. If you are too shy to walk into a shop or restaurant then I am sorry for you.

in person..this way they can see how you carry yourself and how you answer any questions

BUSINESS NAME FOR FLOORING PLZZ HELP !!!!!11? -

i would really appriciate it if you people give me some ideas for a business namee (hardwood flooring) i dun wanna include the owners namee just any namesssssssss PLEASEE THANK YOU

Any names that are suggested here may already be owned by another party and/or may be trademarked so I wanted to go a different route...Here s a few things to keep in mind:1) Keep your industry, your clients/customers, your advertising plan in mind. 2) The more unique distinctive a name, the higher the chances that the name is legally available for use. And the higher the chances of obtaining the trademark.3) Think of your business as having a personality. What kind of image do you want your business to portray? Specific brainstorming tips:Think about what you want but more importantly, think about what you DON T want. If you don t want a 3-word name, don t bother with those. If you don t want non-English words, don t bother with those so on and so forth. What are the types of names you like? Think about words in their simple forms, e.g. adjectives, Latin roots, mythological names, etc. Compile a listing of the types then seek out resources, such as books or sites, which specialize in those types. Here are some links where you can do some preliminary name checking:http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?f=te -- USPTO C Preliminary Search of Federal trademarkshttp://www.statelocalgov.net/50states-se --Go to your state s Secretary of State page to see if they have a searchable database of business nameshttp://www.hoovers.com/free/ http://www.thomasnet.com C Must register (free) to search their databasehttp://www.nameboy.com C Domain name searchhttp://yellowpages.superpages.com/yp.adv C National yellow pages; leave location blank to search nationwide However, please be aware that this is merely scratching the surface of what s out there. Only comprehensive research will tell you if the name is truly available. But, these links are free a great place to start, so I d try them out first. This entails searching the pending registered Federal and State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files. Then, if clear, you can decide if you would like to file for a Federal or a State trademark. Hope that helps! I wish you much success happiness in all your ventures!
