Cant add handling fee on eBay? -

I ve posted an item and I cannot edit the handling fee! Why? It just won t let me enter in a number. It does not erase the $0.00

Well if you have posted the item why do you need to edit the handling fee on the invoice? You send the invoice before you get paid therefore before you post the item? Anyway too alter the postage you use the + and - tools on the invoice to add or subtract, so in your case use the + symbol to add the postage you want then click preview to make sure its right before you send the invoice. You cannot alter the invoice after the buyer has paid.

If it s on a sold item you CANNOT edit the handling fee. If it s an item that is currently running and there are bidders on it, you CANNOT edit any of that. If it s running and has a flat rate for shipping you cannot add an additional handling fee. If it s calculated shipping you can to to revise and click change under the handling cost and a new window will pop up to change it. Make sure there is an actual price in there including dollars AND cents, then click to save. If it s not working after that your best option may be to cancel the listing, edit the changes you want and relist. You may also be able to change browsers (Firefox / Internet Explorer) and try changing it under the different browser. Sometimes there are glitches between eBay software and different browsers.

Ebay have changed the rules on p p costs. For many items such as media (CD s, books etc.) you can t charge for p p. This makes it almost impossible to sell items that are 99p or less. If you build the p p costs into the starting price then you will incur an insertion fee. If the item doesn t sell in the first two attempts you will loose money.

Contractor up front money for a job. How much should I pay? -

Having a home remodeled pretty much from top to bottom. New cabinets in the kitchen, new carpet and lino throughout, paint all the rooms, new plumbing and wiring as needed. I have 3 bids on the project at this time and each are asking for different amounts down and as the job is completed. Is there any (standard) when it comes to paying a contractor as the job is completed? The entire project is 19,000 and it looks like for the most part that materials are running around $9,000...Thanks for the help ..

The payment terms for such work will generally vary as you have noticed. Usually up to 1/3 upfront is somewhat standard, but there are no hard and fast rules. You may see all material cost as being paid upfront with a couple labor payments, or on something like your project which is fairly large the work broken down into phases with the phase materials being paid prior to starting the phase and phase labor being due upon completion of the phase. Contractors will have their own terms that work well for their business and the way they work. If all the payment terms proposed work for you the choice should be based on the reputation/quality of the contractor. If you have a preference of one contractor and their payment terms don t fit with your budget you might try working something out. Good luck.

For a big job like this, it s not unusual to have to pay about 30% up front. But you should NOT do that until you ve checked out the contractor with the better business bureau and your state s contractor s board (if there is one), and checked some references, AND have a real contract to sign.

For this kind of a job I would ask for more than 3 quotes. And you might want to consider an escrow service, I would be very cautios with making a big down payment.By the way, if you want free bids, I use the renov. experts - they have local contractors that they pre-screen so you only get estimates from those who made the cut.You can contact them to get free estimates for your job. If you want, here is the link I used - http://best-offers-online.com/estimates

No more than 2/3 the cost of the materials.

We have built several houses and have done extensive remodeling, first and foremost check out the contractor and his references. Go look at his work. Find out if he is licensed and insured. Better to pay a bit more for good work than to have someone scam you and run off with your money. I would pay no more than 25% of the material cost. If he is a reputable contractor he has accounts where he buys his materials, therefore his bills are not usually due until 30 days after the purchase. Then pay him progress billings based on the amount and quality of the work done. If something is not right do not pay him until it is made right. Have your expectations in writing. If it ends up in court, he will win, unless you have a detailed document that proves what he was suppose to do and for how much. If you are not satisfied, take pictures. This is extra work up front on your end, but it is far better than having shoddy work or someone who just leaves with your money. Any professional will work with you - doing an entire home remodel for $19,000 seems fairly low. You mention plumbing and wiring as needed, before you proceed make sure they fully explain costs for any as needed project. Wiring and plumbing can get expensive, take your time, do it in writing and try to be available daily to answer his questions and check his work.

If your place of business is coming up short in the cash drawer, can they take that amount out of your check? -

I work for a small business and they have been coming up short in the cash drawer. The boss has confesed that he has forgotten to take money for payments and such. Well now we are $600 short and they are saying that it will be taken out of our check. Is that legal?????

In most states, no. But if you don t pay them back they can fire you so it is a bad situation to be in.

It s better to ask this question in the legal category, and say what country it is in.

Multi Million Dollar Business...where to hide the file that says how we manage our business step by step? -

My father is in his 50 s, and has worked within his own self built company his whole life. He s a stress a holic, and combined with his knowledge/experience, and an idea that I came up with, we created a business. My husband fine tuned the computer end, while my father works with the attorney and handles most of the finances, and I created the business, but using their expertise, we have created a multi million dollar business. It could not have been done without the three of us. We all work closely together on everything, and for 5 years have managed to not but heads. We travel a lot between the three of us. If something were to happen to my husband and I, my father would not know the first thing about our end of the work, to which took us 5 years to filter through. If something happened to my father, myself, and my husband, absolutely NO ONE would know how to begin, manage, or carry on what we do. Although it is all simple for the most part, we have not shared the details without anyone else. My mother (my dads wife) does not have the slightest clue/desire to see how things are ran. So its not that we dont involve her, my father just provides for their household. So I have written out how to do our business step by step. It kind of worries me, almost in a way, just having the information written down, and not just in our heads. So my question is, I kind of want to give my father a copy of this disc, that way in case something happened to us, he could have a computer literate person help him figure everything out (yes he s old school, he s never even used a computer, its not a stubborn thing he just doesnt have a need for them). I dont want our attorney to hold the disc because I dont want him to have access to it either.Any suggestions?? Should I give it to him on a disc, and have him hide it somewhere in his garage?? Hide it in my house and tell him where its at?? Also, I dont want it to look like I am some spoiled thing, I am not. I have worked for 6 years, with minimal pay, have gained over 150lbs, im having weight loss surgery because I spent so much computer time figuring out this business and getting it started, and my father has had a company, but it took so much money to run the business we never had anything extravagant growing up, just normal family style living. So finally during the last portion of his life things are looking up. We re actually just barely starting to see the cash come in, but I know from here its only going to skyrocket. Advice?? Thanks, (hope you re still awake after reading all of this)

You should consider safety deposit box but even this may have draw backs as to whose nameyou put it in if the holder of the box is the deceased then It may take a good while to retrievethe disc. With the information it contains I don t think it would be a good idea to store it in thegarage or around the house and it may accidentally get destroyed. Put it in someones namethat is a trusted family member. You were wise to write it down and hope all goes well - maybe someone will add suggestionsin addition.

how to hide anything.
