What is the most efficient way to market an online subscription-based site? -

My partner and I have a new subscription-based site we re going to be launching shortly and are researching the best ways to reach out to the online communities at the onset. We understand it s a bit of a process to market but also understand the impact a solid viral campaign can have. Any thoughts on the best way to attempt to launch such a campaign?

I would certainly start with the social networks, as I discuss over here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index? Beyond that, think hard about how you can teach what you know. Does it make sense to give away some of the information on your site? I m a big fan of building a following as an expert in a niche. If you re generous with your knowledge, consumers hunting for additional information usually will be willing to pay for perspective that is more specific to their situation. All of this should link back to your own company s site, where visitors can find the most information (regularly updated, please!) on the subject area.If you have a budget for online marketing, you can then use those funds to bring additional visitors to your site. I think search marketing, when smartly done, can be very effective, especially if you test smartly the key words that will get you noticed by search engines. Piecing together combinations of words -- oil-based paint risk, historical military data, etc -- can make your search ads efficient.Lastly, you might consider an email newsletter. If the industry changes enough (and most do), there could be significant value in you keeping others informed on what s going on, neatly delivered to their inboxes (opt-in, of course).

What type of business cards to use - coated or not coated? -

I am starting a wedding planning business and working on my business cards. Are there any thoughts on using glossy coated or uncoated business cards? I have a friend who used coated and I can t use pencil to write on it but I can use pen (in case the clients need to write something or I do). Thanks for your input!

You can get UV coating on one or two sides. I think UV coating is very elegant, however you typically cannot write on them. However, if you need to write on them, perhaps you can have them UV coated on one side, and the back side can be still glossy, but uncoated so you can write on them.I ve used Reduced Printing (www.reducedprinting.com), and they print on thick glossy paper. Last time I ve used them I used coupon code google25 and saved $25 but I m not sure if it still works. They have good quality, I do recommend them.

I agree with the some of the other comments. You want to go with the trends of the industry you are in but also not be too hesitant to stand out. You could go with having one side glossy and the other plain so that you can use the other side. Both sides don t have to be covered in gloss so that you can write on the back (though some consider it bad etiquette to write on business cards). Just check with the printing company you will use. One other option is to use Spot UV (UV is another term for gloss in the industry). You choose places or spots on the card for the gloss to be on, like over text or a picture, so that the rest of the card is plain. That way you can use the rest of the card.

I dont like the glossy so mine are just made from paper stock. Follow your industry though. What do most of your competitors use? Don t skimp on the qualtiy though. They are a tax write off and usually very inexpensive overall. Check out VistaPrint.Com for decent quality and affordable cards and marketing materials.

Only use coated cards if you have a picture on your business card, as this enhances the color. It s best to go with the classic paper (heavy and professionally printed of course.)

If it has all the info on it the clients don t need to write on it. Why would they? You don t want it to look cheap so get it coated.

I would definitely go for the coated ones. They give a much more professional and classy impression, and that s very important in your line of business.

As has been said get hem uncoted and save money as most of them will be bind.

How long do I have till I have to pay for a item on ebay? -

I accidentally purchased an buy it now item on ebay without checking the price. How long can I wait till I pay for this item?

Most sellers give you 7 days to complete your payment. eBay policies allow the seller to file an Unpaid item dispute on the 8th day - http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/unpaContact the seller to explain all of this. Who knows, they may even let you cancel the transaction. That s up to the seller of course. Just be really polite, good manners go a long way :-)Good luck!

You should contact the seller and explain that you cannot pay right away and ask for more time. Also, maybe he would agree to cancelling the transaction, but you have to act right away. If you don t follow EBAY procedure and don t contact the seller, eventually he can open a dispute against you and then it gets worse.

If you are the winner of the bid on this item, you ll have up to 7 days to complete your purchase, if you don t the seller will report you, and ebay will contact you.

usally about 3-4 days. That s the standard waiting time before they can file a Non paying bidder on you.

Look again at the listing. It will say when payment is to be made.
