I haven t used the travelocity name your own price but i have used the priceline name your own price. It works really well and you can actually save a lot of money. I went to London a few months ago and I got a nice hotel there for $49 a night when the hotel was actually going for close to $200 a night. I would highly recommend priceline name your own price. The only thing is the bid is binding after it has been accepted, there s no turning back so make sure you put in a price that you can actually afford.
Well run, successful, business s make profit. In a corporation, the profit is distributed to the shareholders. In a partnership, the profits are split between the partners. In a sole proprietorship the profits go to the owner.
Emample: As a Real Estate Broker/OWNER I can hire dozens of realtors to work for me. I get a % of their commissions. As a business owner you can expand your business as large as you wish.increasing your profit. As a worker you only get a set wage.
Hi thereWhat you have to keep in mind is that the owners is only selling you the business, not the goodwill. Now that means that they may have some very regular clients whom frequent the bar/restaurant on a regular basis, this may change as soon as they leave, clients go with them should they decide to open a new establishment or just stay away and visit the competition down the road. You have to be sure that you do have the personality and confidence to attract new customers and keep the regulars. The most important question I would say ask the owners if they do intent to retire or move out of the area because they may want to open another establishment two blocks from you. There is a clause that you can work into the buyers agreement which will prevent them from doing that it is called restriction of trade and you can stipulate a radius which would prevent them from opening a new place down the road. Ask them why they are selling if it is not for health or retiring reasons as this might give you a clue, there may be new developments in the area that you are not aware of and this might influence your business ie new road or the shutting of a road or a new development ie shopping centre which could have bars and restaurants and therefore will stiffen your competition. Also have a look at their accounts or books this will also be a good indicator as to why they are selling as for at least 5 years financial statements and compare them then year on year.Hope this helpedRegardsElize
there are many accounting ratios that you probably are unaware of which can prove the financial soundness of a business. You can learn this by carefully going over the books preferably with an accountant (money well spent) or if you can t afford one go to your local college book store and buy a used accounting book
My suggestion to you (and maybe you ve done this) is to spend time in the bar. See how busy it is on various nights of the week. And get to know some of the customers. What do they like, what would they change? That might get you some additional insite as to the general condition of the place and changes that might need to be made (which may cost some additional money).
Think about the things you are good at and ways you can make people s lives easier. Try to go beyond the 10 pounds itself in your thinking in ways that you can serve to generate money by adding value. What are your resources, ie internet, phone, try brainstorming ideas without censoring yourself to see what comes up. Think in terms of making people s lives easier through adding value.
That seems like a good idea and something that you have an interest and talent in.The most important thing in a new business is a marketing plan - that sounds hard, but it is really just answering the question, How will I get people to use my services? To keep your budget low, I would do just three things: (1) get business cards, (2) print an advertising flyer explaining your business, and (3) put together a binder with pictures of things you have done to show people who are thinking of hiring you.The harder part is figuring out how to get your flyers out to people. So you should think about this. Will you give them to friends to start with? Put them on bulletin boards at local businesses and schools? Give some thought to this.Other than marketing, you have to think about how people will pay you. I would not accept credit cards for awhile, until you get established. Have customers who want to pay by check make the check to your name, not a business name. You will also need to buy supplies and equipment that you are renting out. Make a list of what you need and how much it costs. Go online and search for stuff to get the best prices.Good luck!
First off, drop the word party . If you want to make money, you ll need to put together events (party makes people think of birthday parties and such) The next step is to build a website to build your brand - I suggest using WordPress and buying a nice template (it ll take you a week to learn to build a site and will cost you under $50). Next you ll need to put up some photos (this is gonna be tough if you haven t done any events).. try to find some generic stock images that convey what you plan to offer clients. As you do more and more events, try to do deals with pro photographers who shoot the events so that you can use their photos on your site (and buy a digital camera and take a class at a community college so that you can take some of your own photos after you deck-out a venue). Next you ll need a price list and a printed portfolio to show your clients... you may want to try and request some materials from other similar businesses in you area to establish a reasonable price point for your services.... for a catalog of products, you can grab images from the website of a supplier (such as my company, eventdecordirect.com...i can send you images without the EDD watermark if you d like). Now here s how the business works: you hand out your cards, brochures and such to friends and family and ask them to get the word out. This will produce your first clients. Once you sit down and get an event scheduled, you will take a deposit and use it to start purchasing your inventory (obviously the deposit may not cover the entire purchase price for everything, so you will likely need some of your own money to get it going). You will continue to do this for a few years as you reinvest your money into building your inventory....after a few years, you will find that you re doing events which use items you already own...this is when the profits start to flow. Continue to socialize and get your name out. Tip: Many of the networking strategies used by real estate agents can work for you. This is the basic model. There are many more things you can do such as custom-creations, pay-per-click advertising, search engine optimization, advertising, and much more. (contact trafficbrick.com after a couple years and we can discuss these methods).Hopefully this helps =) Good luck and have fun!!
Any names that are suggested here may already be owned by another party and/or may be trademarked so I wanted to go a different route...Here s a few things to keep in mind:1) Keep your industry, your clients/customers, your advertising plan in mind. 2) The more unique distinctive a name, the higher the chances that the name is legally available for use. And the higher the chances of obtaining the trademark.3) Think of your business as having a personality. What kind of image do you want your business to portray? Specific brainstorming tips:Think about what you want but more importantly, think about what you DON T want. If you don t want a 3-word name, don t bother with those. If you don t want non-English words, don t bother with those so on and so forth. What are the types of names you like? Think about words in their simple forms, e.g. adjectives, Latin roots, mythological names, etc. Compile a listing of the types then seek out resources, such as books or sites, which specialize in those types. Here are some links where you can do some preliminary name checking:http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?f=te -- USPTO C Preliminary Search of Federal trademarkshttp://www.statelocalgov.net/50states-se --Go to your state s Secretary of State page to see if they have a searchable database of business nameshttp://www.hoovers.com/free/ http://www.thomasnet.com C Must register (free) to search their databasehttp://www.nameboy.com C Domain name searchhttp://yellowpages.superpages.com/yp.adv C National yellow pages; leave location blank to search nationwide However, please be aware that this is merely scratching the surface of what s out there. Only comprehensive research will tell you if the name is truly available. But, these links are free a great place to start, so I d try them out first. This entails searching the pending registered Federal and State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files. Then, if clear, you can decide if you would like to file for a Federal or a State trademark. Hope that helps! I wish you much success happiness in all your ventures!
