Can a PO Box in another town be my business legal address for my home business? -

I wanted to start a home business (selling junk on the internet), but I live in Philadelphia which has a business privilege tax. 6% tax on all profit. Plus Philadelphia has a 2% higher sales tax the the next county over. So, I thinking of getting a PO box or UPS Store Box outside Philadelphia and using it as my business address. Would this be legal?

ah....no. Your physical address is your business s legal address, doesn t matter where the mail is going to. When you fill out your tax returns at the end of the year and IF you claim a home office/storage deduction, it s going to ask where the office is located. When the PA state tax commission gets a copy of your federal tax returns, the jig will be up and you have to pay the difference plus penalties and interest.Keep in mind that that 6% is on your profit, not gross sales. Once you deduct the cost of your junk, the shipping, supplies, home office deduction, mileage, internet, losses, insurance, etc and so on, you ll probably see that the tax isn t that bad after all :)

EBay item ended and payment has not been made and its been over 24 hours? -

It was clearly mentioned in the bid that if payment is not made within 24 hours of winning the bid, the item will be up for a second chance offer for the next highest bidder. The 24 hours are up and what are my options. What are my options to exercise the second chance offer? Can I deny the offer to the winner since the 24 hours are up. Once again, the item description CLEARLY mentioned that payment is due within 24 hours. I don t want my funds to be stuck for 7 days and then file a complaint and keep the whole thing hanging.

First, I am glad I don t bid on your site. I have many 100s of bids in my record and not one other seller has ever demanded payment within 24 hours. Second, if you have it listed as payment is due within 24 hours and you did not get it, then you need to email the winning bidder and inform them that since they have not done as the bidding instructions said, you are cancelling their bid so they will not be getting the item. Then you notify the person who had the 2nd place bid and tell them that the winning bidder defaulted so if they want the item they can have it for their last bid. If you want to be sure every base is covered, contact ebay and tell them you want to cancel the transaction on that item with the one who did not pay on time. You don t have to give a reason. They will contact the highest bidder and tell them that you want to cancel and then they will have a chance to agree or disagree and give their reason for not paying. This just happened to me but it turned out that Paypal hadn t notified the seller of the payment I had made so she thought I didn t make it. We were able to straighten it out when I could provide the transaction numbers.

Selling Sims 3 to a Pawn Shop? -

If I went to a Pawn shop and sold the Sims 3 in mint condition. How much would they give me for it?

About half of what they think they can sell it for. If they have similar games on the shelves, divide that price by two.

Do you need a business license to do freelance cake decorating? -

My cousin just got out of pastry school and she s been doing a couple cakes a month for close friends and family. She charges supplies plus a little bit more for a small profit. Does she need a business license for that?

It depends on what you mean by Freelance. If you will decorate cakes as an independent contractor for other cake-decorating businesses than no, you don t need a license.Depending on the scope of your business you may want to protect yourself though. A DBA, or Doing Business As, would let you conduct business under another name (Awesome Cakes), and get a tax ID number from the federal government so that you don t have to use your social security number. If you thinking of a bigger business, you may want an LLC to protect your personal financial assets from you business debts.Good luck with the cakes!

As long as it stays family or hobby size its a super gray area. The instant she advertises (Business cards, brochures, web-site), she best have a business license, a licensed kitchen and insurance.

Can i place late avon orders? -

i want to place about a $50 order in a previous campaign. i know there is a $7 late fee and im fine with paying that. how late can the orders be? there have been 2 campaigns since the one i want to order from. would i still be able to place this order with my avon rep?

We can backorder 2 campaigns back. My Campaign 21 order is due tomorrow, so I can order back to C19. I would then have one week after my order due date to place a C19 order before those prices are no longer available. If you catch her before her order is due there shouldn t be any reason to have to pay a late fee. However if she has to place an additional order there (within the week s time limit) then there would be an additional fee. Hope that makes sense :)

you can but the orders will come late. i dont shop with avon anymore because after ordering late they never sent me my items and they still took my money and charged me a bunch of fees and after calling them and sending them emails they would not respond and neither would my avon rep so it was like wtf is this. and honestly its not worth it because i could buy make up at a department store for the charges they gave me and be happy.hope this helps you.

Trademark name question - If quot;Peachquot; is trademarked can I use quot;PeachGoddessquot; - or is that a violation? -

NO - I don t actually want to use that - its just an example.

If your PeachGoddess will not result in loss of Peach s earnings, then it will not be a violation. I have here a link that might be helpful to you. Please check it out.
